Hi, I'm new to this website and am not really sure if anyone will be able to help me, but I will describe my skin with the hope that someone can.
From the age of 12 until around 18, I had really weird acne -- little skin-coloured acne bumps covering my entire face, pretty much. I have never known anyone who had pimples like mine. Anyway, they cleared up when I reached 18, but were replaced with large black dots all over my forehead, nose, and cheeks. I have always assumed they were enlarged pores? Or could they be blackheads? And around my nose piercing, there are little white dots. Are these whiteheads?
Also, the texture of my skin changes in certain areas. My forehead often looks shiny and almost scaly-looking, making it look like I have little cracks or wrinkles in my skin. My skin also looks and is dry very often -- especially my forehead -- and flakes often when I put my mineral makeup on, despite being moisturized prior to.
Here is my skincare routine:
Morning: splash face with cold water
apply emu oil to damp skin
Evening: use the oil-cleansing method to wash face
occasionally, I will use witch hazel as a toner
apply emu oil to damp skin
then Lift it Firming serum from sheermiracle.com
I exfoliate every week or so, just by putting Dr. Bromner's castile soap onto an exfoliating glove and scrubbing very very gently in circular motions.
I get the occasional pimple or two every now and then, but they are always tiny and clear up relatively quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions -- first, what my skin issues are, and second, how to remedy them?
Help me! Problem skin.

i think what you have are blackheads (black dots)
Try a bha product or mandelic acid (theres a thread on it in this website somewhere)
Regarding that scaly texture on your face... i have the EXACT same thing, and i think what it is is seborrheic dermatitis. Basically your body produces too much yeast/sebum and thus why your skins always oily and has that weird texture.
Only thing that i know of that can reduce sebum output is accutane
btw, did you ever take oral antibiotics for acne... and did your acne first start when you started using skin products?

No, I never took oral acne medication, just topical ones. And I think my acne was a hormonal thing. I was reading the thread about mandelic acid and am considering buying some.

I used neosporin cream to try to get rid of pimples (DID NOT WORK), but I noticed the areas I put it on I had zero blackheads, where as before the area was covered in them. I applied it daily for like a week or so. Maybe that will help ya.
