I use a topical retinoid called stievamycin and the one I use it 0.025%. I've been on it for a little over a year and had quite good results from it. But in the last little while my skins been getting worse. I think this was due to something I introduced into my diet but it got me thinking, if you use a topical such as this for an extended period of time doe sit start to lose it's effect?

Will using a stronger version help at all or will it just irritate my fairly sensitive skin?

thanks in advance

I haven't heard of steivamycin, but if it's a retinoid, best results are seen with longer use. Retinoids take time to do their work - so a year is optimum time for a retinoid. I would guess your skin is reacting to something else that you've added into your skincare routine or diet. Can you pinpoint anything else that you've changed?

Oh okay, thanks alot for the comment, that helps me a lot in trying to figure out exactly what caused this. The only thing I've changed is my diet - im weightlifting and as such im eating more and added some things to my diet. I removed what I'm pretty sure caused this and Im waiting to see if this subsides. I have been icing it and although it helped reduce inflammation there are a bunch of new zits that I think were caused by irritation from the icing. My diet is 100% clean now I think, there are no obvious triggers in it. I doubt that my eating more calories could have caused a breakout this severe

I mean it could simply be a random flare up of your hormones causing the breakout. I've never really had any food sensitivities but obviously everyone is different. Good luck. smile.gif
