I don't know what to do anymore. It all started when I decided to go to a dermatologist for my acne and some light facial scarring. He gave me Duac acne gel and a sulfur wash. I tried the Duac the first night I got it and only applied on spots where I had some bumps and small zits. One hour later I noticed my skin was lighter in two blotchy areas on the right side of my face.. I was terrified. I washed my face a lot. I stopped using anything on my face. Nothing worked. I thought maybe it would go away in a week or something.

It never went away and that was in January. Then, I went to a dermatologist in March after hoping this would go away on its own with time....The derm told me I had light rosacea and that actually the areas that are lighter are actually my normal skin color, but there are areas around it that are slightly pink that make it look so obvious. I believed him because my skin definitely was pink around my nose/mouth/cheek area and a somewhat darker pink with some very tiny, almost unnoticeable bumps (kind of scaly looking) on the side of my face.

I used the ointment and the first day things were fine but nothing had changed and then overnight I slept with the ointment on my pink areas and awoke to a new light spot on my face. I freaked and I took a wet towel and rubbed the ointment off and washed over and over. The white spot turned red and then my face was red for about 2 days accompanied by a burning sensation. Now it's not as red anymore and no burning, but I think the ointment may have eaten away at some skin? Because there is a small area near a pimple I had on my face that is a splotchy pink color and if I look closely I can see the edges of it...it seems to have tiny red dots up close....so I assume a layer of skin was eaten away. That has not changed sad.gif

And the lighter areas are still lighter unfortunately. So, basically I'm done using dermatologist recommended chemical stuff and am sticking to all natural. I had noticed when I had been using witch hazel toner unsceneted the past few months, sometimes my red/pink areas looked better particularly in the morning and when summer first came on, the humidity seemed to make my skin look better. So, what is happening with my skin? Anyone have any ideas or gone through similar experiences with discoloration from product, steroid ointment leaving a pink eaten away skin spot, and what is this pink/slightly reddish slightly bumpy area I've had for months? The pink areas sometimes have some flaky looking skin that I can see....but again, only sometimes if I don't put witch hazel on at night and I over-wash my face with water. Also, sometimes I feel like I can feel things moving on my face....like tiny little bugs and my face can somewhat feel like it's itching but this happens only sometimes.....and this bug-crawling itchy feeling is not just on my face but the rest of my body and head sometimes....yet I am only having this pink blotchy coloring on my face.

I'm desperate at this point. What can I do about the eaten away skin from steroid ointment? I was thinking of applying tea tree oil? Or maybe just regular ointment that is non steroidal. I'm worried it's going to be some type of scar sad.gif And then what can I do about the discolored, pink, slightly bumpy areas on my face? And also what could this sometimes itchy skin all over my body be?

I know I have a lot of questions but I'm desperate and thought I'd go to a forum and explain my problems and see if people can help me. Thank you!
