Hey everyone. I've been prescribed Retin-a 0.025% cream, Clindamycin phosphate gel, and a sodium sulfacetamide and sulfur wash by my dermatologist.
I'm just over three weeks into this regimen and I still haven't had the dreaded initial breakout. I haven't even experienced that much peeling besides some flaking around my chin area. The topical antibiotic was given to me for spot treatment, but I've barely had to use it for some really minor pimples. I've always thought I had really sensitive skin so I'm surprised my experience with trentinoin has been fairly mild so far. My skin has only gotten better since using it.
I was on hormonal birth control for about two months until I had to stop due to some really bad side effects. However, during that time my skin became about 95% clear but not without what I think was an initial breakout. My entire face broke out moderately, and even in places I didn't normally breakout. But eventually it subsided and my skin cleared up. Is it possible that the birth control might have gotten a good amount of the gunk from my skin so my initial breakout on trentinoin won't be that bad?
To sum it up, where's my initial breakout? Compared to what I've read from other people's experiences, mine should've have begun by now.
Do I need to move up to a stronger concentration of trentinoin?
I was expecting/still expecting a fairly bad initial breakout since I've stopped birth control which did a great job controlling my mild/moderate acne.
Retin-A: Dude, where's my initial breakout?
