DAY 12

So, unfortunately, today wasn't that great. I'm sure it's all just in my head, but whatever! I really don't have anything new to say. I suppose I am just venting a little, which I hope will help me out a little.

Last night my eyes became progressively worse. I was using these all natural eye drops and they just weren't cutting it. All I wanted to do was go to sleep so I could close my eyes. It made me feel so craby! I ended up calling my husband and begging him to go get me some Visine. Oh the wonders it worked. Unfortunately you aren't suppose to use them on a daily basis. I used them last night and this morning. My eyes feel like they are back to normal, so I will use my all natural ones tonight and see how that goes. Oh and one more thing, since my eyes are so dry, they are red which makes me look like I'm stoned. Real nice.......real nice!

The other thing is my scalp. Again, I'm really not sure if it is truly from accutane, since I have dermatitis. But, oh my scalp is disgusting and embarrassing. The itchiness has dried down some, but I will look in the mirror and I will have like a thousand noticable HUGE white flakes in my hair. My husband's always like, "Wait, hold on, you have something in your hair, let me get it." Errrrrr! I really hope this goes away soon.

Lastly, is the pores on my face. They seem like they are waaaaaay bigger on my checks. Let's just say that I have always had small pores. Is this in my head? Is this normal? Do they only look this way because my skin is purging and/or because its dry? If anyone knows, I would love to know.

Okay, I apologize for this depressing entry. On a positive note, no IB as of yet. smile.gif

DAY 13

So, I have great news! I had bought some jojoba oil for my face yesturday. I kept on reading how awesome it is, so I decided to give it a try. Well, as I was putting it on my face I noticed the bottle said, "For skin, hair & scalp." My scalp has been killing me, so I was like why not. I put the oil all through my hair and scalp. Let's just say that I looked like a greasy blob. I obviously washed my hair when I woke up this morning. Oh my, what a drastic difference! My scalp feels so good and no more disgusting flakes everywhere. I am so going to do this again in a few days. As far as the face goes, not really sure I like it any better than my vitamin e or my almond oil, but I'm willing to give it a few more nights just to see if it is better.

I think the pores appear larger at first because the Accutane is causing the skin to purge, therefore stretching the pores. I do know that Accutane is supposed to decrease their size eventually. So I'm guessing the enlargement is temporary...(Hopefully!!)

Isn't jojoba oil wonderful??? Haha. I heard it's substance is pretty similar to the natural oil sebum so perhaps that's why it works so wonderfully for the skin. & that's awesome it's working for your scalp!

Really? I really hope that's true because big pores arent that attractive. And that's pretty interesting about the jojoba oil.

2 WEEK MARK

Alright, so I just had to make a post for my 2 week celebration mark. Not much new or different. Um let's see....so far I have yet to have an IB. My skin just keeps on getting better and better. I will try and make sure to post my 2 week progress pictures tomorrow. Thursdays have somehow been designated to be my picture day. I suppose because that's the day I started accutane.

I am still getting new zits, even cystic one. Boy do they itch! I only get 1-2 new ones a day, which is nothing compared to what I would get before accutane. My face is so much less red-amazing.

My bloody boogie nose issue is under control. The saline spray an vasaline twice a day seem to do the trick.

My eyes are doing just fine with using eye drops twice a day. I am even able to use my all natural drops. I haven't used the visine drops since Monday morning I think it was, maybe Monday night.

My scalp is doing sooooo much better after using jojoba oil on it. Still a little itchy, so I think I will do it again tonight. Hopeefully that will be my last time needing to do it.

I hope everyone is doing great today. And hopefully we all woke up to clearer skin.

Thanks Claire, Elle & Timehealsall!

Timehealsall-

To answer your question, I'm not sure yet. I was REALLY scared that I did before I went on accutane. I just had so much cysts that I honestly couldn't tell. Now that my skin is clearing up so fast, I am trying to be hopeful that I don't have any scars, but we will find out soon!

DAY 18

Hi everyone! So I felt like I should give an update since it's been awhile.

Things are going well. I am continuing to get clearer and clearer by the day. My red marks are fading at a good rate. I have yet to have an IB, but I am still getting plenty of new cysts everyday. I actually have this really embarrassing huge one in the middle of my chin. I may be able to cover the redness, but that is about it. My make-up looks okay when I put it on in the morning, but by the end of the day, I am feeling pretty embarrassed because I will literally have giant chunks of dried up pimples completely visible. My husband and I were going to go out to dinner on Friday, but I just couldn't. All I wanted to do was go home and wash my face.

My scalp is still very itchy. I am hoping that this will soon subside. I put jojoba oil on my scalp and throughout my hair again yesturday. It helps, but I'm still itchy.

I am having to put lotion on more than twice a day now, which is frustrating, but I can handle it.

I hope that everybody is doing well and let's all keep on getting clearer!

One more thing that I forgot to mention. All my blackheads on my nose are almost to the surface. It's pretty yucky. When I touch my nose, I feel like hundreds of mini little bumps. Ugh! I sure hope that they go away soon.

I just realized you're on 80mg! Wow, I can't imagine how dry you must be. Hang in there!

I'm the same as you - no IB yet, however, my chin is THE area for cystic-like, large, tender pimples to appear. I wonder why?? Chin has always been a problem area for me but it seems like each day I get a new pimple there. The rest of my face is clear. I guess I don't mind my chin breaking out as much since it heals pretty quickly and doesn't leave much PIH.

CLAIRE-

Your funny. I thought that you knew I was on 80. Hehe. Yeah, I'm guessing that the reason I have cleared so quickly, along with such early side effects is due to my high dosage. I was super scared about the IB because of my dose, but I guess that doesn't matter. My cheeks are the worse part on my face. Since starting accutane, I now get cysts on my forward and chin, but they heal within days which is awesome since I could have a cyst last months in the past.

So, I know that I have already posted today, but I just had to post something positive that I just noticed. So, about a week ago I had noticed that my pores were really big and now they aren't so much anymore. How cool is that?! The pores on my cheecks have completely went back to normal. I think that Claire was right-that maybe it was my skin purging. The pores on my nose are still clogged with blackheads which makes them large, but now I'm not worried, because I know they will eventually go back to normal.

Very Happy at the moment! wink.gif

Yeah and being on the higher dose - wouldn't we have experienced the IB right about when we started getting the other side effects?? Haha I'm hoping that's the case. And I noticed my pores have shrunk quite a bit and my forehead is soo soft. A few cysts refuse to heal on my cheek though haha.

DAY 19

Things are still going well. Something funny that I noticed last night. My right side of my face has always been the worst side for me, but I just noticed how now that's my good side-weird. It seems as though I get all my new acne in places that weren't my problem areas such as my forehead and chin. Is this common?

Thank you Claire again-not sure what I'd do without my jojoba oil. I think that I have almost finished the whole bottle and it's been less than a week since I got it. It soaks in wonderfully. My forearms are just so dry. I always put oil on my whole body at night, but I had to put oil at least on my forearms this morning. That's on top of my morning lotion ritual. Crazy!

All in all, I feel like I can handle my side effects at this point.

I did read somewhere that you will get acne it the oddest places. The other day I had a zit on my tricep. Never in my life have I had a zit on my arm! Weird eh?

It's good that you can handle your side effects. I think I can as well (so far). biggrin.gif
