also let me add that for anyone looking to get bc for acne purposes look for your med insurance company online and see what they will give you. check the options, because you may see a great bc online that your insurance does not prescibe. if you have kaiser permenente like i do then they prescibe all of the birthcontrols i have talked about. usually they have a list of everything they will prescribe you. just look under birthcontrol!

Hey there. We just got on kaiser insurance. What do you think of their derm doctors?

kaisers derm doctors are somewhat helpful their biggest downfall is that if you are not totally specific with them they wont prescribe you what you actually want or need. you have to drill it into their heads pretty much. i have been to the derm at kaiser twice already, everytime i went i said i wanted an oral medication such as bc or if there was an alternative to acutane (since my acne is not awful just light to mild in some areas). they prescibed me epiduo at first which worked for a while and then stopped, then i was prescibed retin a which dried out my skin totally and didnt even clear up my acne. maybe it was just the derm i went to, but i felt like she didnt listen to me, im going to a different one this time. thank god

corrin,

What area do you live in? I have been going to kaiser for my acne and my general doctor said their derms don't deal with acne unless you want to try accutane. I'm in northern california.

sorry it has been so long for me to reply, but i live in atlanta georgia so our kaisers might be different. just to let you know, i made the decision to try one last thing before ortho. i now uses prascion face wash which has sulfur and benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin-benzoyl peroxide topical gel which is the spot treatment, and also the retin a gel (0.025%). i use the wash all over my body and the pimples that were all over my neck and chin have completely vanished, my back and chest are totally clear as well. my face may get one or to pimples rarely right on the hair line. but i have found my formula! i would highly recommend this. but hey if it doesnt work for you, try ortho its had great reviews. i also drink green tea every day. i get the pack of 100 tea bags from kroger and drink at least 3 cups a day. i think this also helps. my skin glows now. and my friends have totally noticed! junior year seems like its going to be a great one!
