I am on Loseasonique. It was given for me to take because i have severe cramps that put me in the hospital! I have been on it for 7 months (on third pack). The pills are suppose to make you only have ONE period per three months.

Recently, after two week of my second pack...I got a huge cyst on my chin. And since then, i breakout constantly. I've read other similar stories for the birth control.

I NEED a new birth control to help maintain acne AND possibly weight.

Generally, no birth control will be good for your waistline unless perhaps you're switching from a higher estrogen pill to a lower. Generally the lower the estrogen pill the lower the side effects, so you might want to switch to a lower dose pill. Of course, the higher dose estrogen pills are supposedly better for your skin (this did not seem to be the case for me, however). Perhaps you might want to try Yasmin? I'm not certain it's lower in estrogen than what you're taking, but Yasmin is often touted as the super pill. Many claim that they don't gain weight on it and it's good for some people's acne as it contains Spiro (which is a diuretic).

Hey jennaaay,

if you want to stop using all that stuff you should try what i did to beat acne; read my blog it has everything. You dont really need to use any creams or birth control pills to beat acne. It all comes down to cleaning out your body internally. The most important things are eating healthy and fasting (dont worry though, you wont have to fast forever); they will absolutely clear up your skin.

hi im dealing with the choosing of BC right now as well. i just got off depo and am going to try otho tri cyclen, it is a BC thats works for acne. do some research and ask your doctor about what might be good for you, here are some suggestions that are birth controls that work for acne: ortho cyclen, ortho tri cyclen, necon, brevicon, also yasmin- i would not recommend yasmin though, it has cause many cases of infertility, i actually know someone who got on yasmin and can never have children again because of the drug. anyways good luck

My doc told me to go on Ortho. I know they are not any BC specifically for weight loss. I was talking more along the lines of ones that have a less chance of it based on lower estrogen. biggrin.gif

And thanks guys.

i havent yet, but im going to the derm july 25 and will be getting it then. i would just go for it though, i have read many success stories about ortho, i mean if your acne is to a point where you cannot take it anymore then just try it out. i havent read anything about ortho making skin worse. im thinking you dont have much to lose! alot of times jawline acne is hormonal and ortho helps with hormonal acne, alot of BC's do that but ortho is high ranking! dont be scared! let me know how it works for you!

Hey!

I've been on microgynon, dianette, IUD copper coil and lastly yasmin.

Microgynon was fine for years although I did gain weight.

Dianette made me a psycho, I was constantly leaking from the eyes for no particular reason. Didn't help acne but I came off it after three weaks of being unable to stop crying, for example, I couldn't handle the fact that my computer at work was running slowly.

IUD copper coil - I wanted to stop messing with hormones so had this for 8 months, my body eventually rejected it with a 6 week period and HORRENDOUS cramps.

Yasmin - awesome. I haven't gained any weight but my boobies are humongous! I'm fine emotionally, periods are light and not very painful, it's stabilised my acne (not quite cleared it). oh and I'm not pregnant! Miracle BC. Only con is that my boobs were tender for about 2 months.

I am interested in the fast too!

i forgot to add this, but i saw that you were wondering about fasting Wicky, i have fasted quite a bit and its true that it does clear up your skin and you lose weight too which is great. there are many different fasts you can choose from. i would recommend a daniel fast. i dont know if you are religious or not but either way it is a fast in which you give up something during a time when you are trying to be close to god in prayer, although it is religious, this fast is amazing for cleansing the body of impurities. basically you dont foods that are processed. i did the daniel fast for a religious thing with my old church but i realized that it was doing such a great thing with my body that i did it longer than the month we were supposed to do it for with the church. it clears up your skin amazingly. it is very hard to do though but if you have a strict diet anyway then it shoudlnt be too hard. here is a list of things you can eat on it:
Please make sure to READ THE LABEL when purchasing packaged, canned or bottled foods. They should be sugar-free and chemical-free. Keep this in mind as you review this list of acceptable foods.

Foods to include in your diet during the Daniel Fast

All whole grains, including but not limited to whole wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, grits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat tortillas, rice cakes and popcorn.

corrin after reading about the daniel fast i feel like i've already been doing that for the last 6 months..My diet consisits of:

limited fruits (peaches, bananas, strawberries, melon, blueberries & mango)
All vegetables
brown rice,
quinoa,
milllet
avocados
black beans
chicken
beef

I rarely deviate from these foods and my only occasional treat is a low glycemic cookie or sugar free cookie..I will also occasionally have a Lara Bar or Luna Bar..I have lost 35lb in the last six months and cannot afford to loose anymore. I only drink water and allow myself 1 cup of 1/2 caffeine coffee in the morning and a splash of non dairy creamer. I dont eat any processed food or dairy and have only cheated recently with 1/2 slice of whole grain bread. My skin continues to break out in these weird hive like welts every day on my jawline.. My oil production is crazy in my chin area and cannot stop this area from continually plugging up...I extract the plug and within two days the same exact pore has refilled again. I cant stand that everything i've tried has not produced any results...I did this healthy diet thing to get clear skin and it hasnt helped one bit...I just dont know what i'm doing wrong?

Ortho was the worst one. DD quit after 7 months on it. Then she had to go on accutane. Which made it worse!

Thanks guys for your postss!!!

I start Ortho Lo in like a little over 2 weeks.

Every birth control is different. They way someone reacts to a certain BC might be completely different from how another person reacts to it. I'm taking Lo bc the side effects should be less since it doesn't have too much estrogen.

also let me add that for anyone looking to get bc for acne purposes look for your med insurance company online and see what they will give you. check the options, because you may see a great bc online that your insurance does not prescibe. if you have kaiser permenente like i do then they prescibe all of the birthcontrols i have talked about. usually they have a list of everything they will prescribe you. just look under birthcontrol!
