Ok. So I'be compiled a timeline of my cystic acne journey.
Once that is STILL not over.
But MUCH improved.
I hope some of you benefit from this, whether it be emotionally or by asking questions and getting help.
But anyway. If you think you got it bad, I understand.
It might not be up yet, because I made it a few minutes ago.
But you should check to see that its there.
Peaace.

Your timeline was really inspiring, but I'm confused. How did you actually cure your acne? Did you do accutane or something? 'Cause whatever you did, it totally kicked your acne's ass (i want some).

To both of you guyss.
Ok. It was a combination of a lot of stuff.
1. Extractions. I have a wonderful esthetician named Leah. She pretty much went at my face with small tools and drained a lot of the cysts. At the time it was necessary because they were so large and infecting other parts of my face and they just HURT. But after I started seeing her, which was about 2 or 3 months after the acne started, things started to improve dramatically.
2. LED lights. these are nice little lights that were applied to my face for about 20 minutes at a time. There is a red one, which takes out red pigment, and a blue one, which gets deep in the tissue and disinfects it.
3. Natural supplements. I went to a few hormone doctors (gynocologists) and they took blood samples and my hormones were for the most part normal. However, my naturopathic doctor put me on primrose oil, vitamin A (but natural vitamin a, not the super-vitamin a found in accutane) and a few liver supplements.
4. Birth control. The dose I'm taking is really geared towards acne. A lot of women try this and it works for them, and it helped me, that's for sure.
There was no accutane involved. My parents wanted to avoid that whole shindig. The way I fixed it was quite expensive in comparison, but in my case, my acne was seriously affecting my life, so they were willing to put up with the costs.

Wow! That's incredible! Thank you so much for sharing this! I've always wondered if accutane could be avoided with the other, more expensive treatments. Your acne looked pretty severe in these pics--almost like acne conglobata--but was it actually just the light treatments that made it appear so severe? Did those treatments hurt? Do you still have to get them? Anyways, I think you look super hot in the after pictures! You deserve it; I think you must be incredibly strong to make it through all that.

Hi Anna.
1. Curious about the vitamin A dosage you are/were taking. My naturopath has me on 100,000 IU/day, along with Skin Assist by Vitanica, high dose probiotics, Saccharomyces boullardi, and a gut-healing protein shake. It's only been 2 weeks but I'm hoping it helps take down the cysts and infection. Did you notice a difference?
2. What kind of birthday control are you using, what dosage, and did you have any side effects? I think I have hormonal imbalance since my cycles are often 40 days long. Not confirmed though until blood/saliva tests are performed...
Thanks so much!
Gina
