stop whenever you feel side effects, sleep disturbances and tiredness is the first side effect. when you get the right amount, it should improve your sleep a bit, assuming you are also getting all your other vitamins. proabably 20-40mg total per day is ok.

I've been searching for over a decade for an answer to my acne....my doctor recently put me on 50mg of zinc taken 3x/day...and he's one of the best doctors in Canada (I think! anyway, plus he's well known for being one of Canada's best Thyroid doctors), so-in conclusion-you should be okay with taking that amount and even more.
Also-Female, 5'6", 124 pounds.
Also-haven't seen any results yet...have been taking for roughly 2 wx. Although, not really expecting much..have tried everything.
Good luck with it!

You only need 30 mg of zinc to get the effects, preferably in the monomethionine or gluconate form. Don't take over 50 mg though it is toxic in higher doses. Also, give it at least 3 months until you notice an improvement that it is working. I recommend taking 2-3 mg of copper a day as well if you are taking zinc over long periods of time. Zinc absorbs copper so that way you don't form a copper deficiency.

Hey. Last summer my derm. included Zinc to my regimen. I weight 135 and I've been taking 100 mg daily, but it was not in the pill form. I do not remember well, but I guess I've been taking it for 2 months or so continuously and after a month my dosage was lowered to 50 mg. And after that I've been taking Zinc only in a multivitamin form a long with other vitamins. As I remember it worked quite well in making my skin less oily.
Good luck!
