Hey,

Tetraysal (300mg tablets once a day.) PanOxyl wash 10 apply once a day. Differin 0.1% apply at night. I'm really depressed at the moment, I've been doing the regimen for a week and i've had a massive breakout. It sucks!! I dont know what to do, not sure whether to keep going or stop the regimen. Hopefully someone can reply and give me some advice because I need some sad.gif. Thanks.

Didn't put the differin on last night because didnt want to wake up with it even worse. Haven't done anything yet except the tables today. Not sure whether to.

Ive never used Panoxyl wash or differin.
But its common that usually within a month of starting a new regimen you will encounter teething problems. Try keeping at it for maybe a month and a half and for maybe 2 weeks use differin on a less regular basis.

Hope it helps smile.gif

Hi Essex - looks like we are more or less on the same regimen! I'm afraid I can't tell you that I have had a breakthrough with my acne - but I do feel that I am getting to the stage where if things are going to change it should be soon. I have a log too.

What level would you say your acne is - mild, moderate or severe? How long have you been suffering for? Are you male or female?

Regarding your question about sun protection - I have started using Clarins UV Plus High Protection SPF40 on my face. It seems very gentle and is oil-free. I haven't yet had a holiday with acne (!) and am wondering about swimming etc myself.

Ah cool what regimine have you been on and how long you been on it? I would say mine is moderate to severe but apparently I see it worse. I've been sufffering since my early teens and im 20 now and make. I went on accutane twice and got rid of it. Then it came back last year and I wanted to go back on accutane but my derm said it weren't bad enough to go back on. So got put on this. Whats your story?

Im guna post again about the holiday question because need some advice as im going tomorrow biggrin.gif

Hi Essex - here is a link to my log.

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Tetralysa...al-t297246.html

I have never been on Roaccutane but the derm has been trying to get me on it recently. I want to carry on with topical retinoids/Differin for a bit longer.

When your derm put you on Differin did he/she discuss any other types of topical retinoids? I am interested because mine didn't seem to know/care much about the other stronger ones that are available and that strikes me as a bit odd. It sounds like there are some stonger and more effective ones out there.

Anyway - I am sure you're more interested in getting ready for your holiday than reading stuff on this forum. Have a great time. smile.gif

Na i'm always on this forum because can never get the acne out of my head. Well I was on retin-a gel before Differein, which was ok. My derm was really confident about this cream and so was my doctor so there was not a lot of talk about others.

I am using it again! A couple of people who read my log said that I might be using too many things at once and I thought it might be wise to stop. However, having had the derm tell me to consider Roaccutane, I am less worried as none of these things are causing irritation.

I have used Duac (5% bp) with Differin in the past and got a lot of irritation - I find the wash milder because it doesn't stay on my skin for long - but for that reason it is probably not as effective. Is your skin sensitive? Have you ever considered using a bp gel in the morning instead of a wash? Mighht be a bit more effective? Is it just your chin that you get acne on?

How long do you keep the wash on for once applied. Yes my skin is sensitive, I haven't considered that yet because I've only been on my regimen for a couple of weeks. If I don't see any improvement in a few weeks I will change. Its my chin and the left side of my face where I have had my outbreak on. Just hoping that will die down soon cry.gif

I don't leave the wash on for long - just enough to time to rub it in gently and then rinse off. When I used the Duac my skin felt like it was burning constantly (I used it for 3 months) so I'm a bit scared of leaving it on for too long!

I'm sure it will die down a bit soon. You've got to give it plenty of time to work. I am on week 11 Differin and 16 Tetralysal. The initial breakout has definitely calmed down and the last two weeks I have had less new spots. It could be a good sign!

Hopefully that means that everything is kicking in and yours will get better soon. I'm hoping mine gets past the initial part soon. Going away today so I'm guna have a little break from the panOxyl I think because im scared of the reaction it will cause with the sun. Might still apply a few times though.

Day 16

Had a shave today, wish I could grwo a proper beard to cover up all my spots. The ones along my left jawline really bother. No improvent with the ones on my chin/lip area. Going on holiday so i'm going to not be as strict with the PanOxyl because im scared of the reaction with the sun.

Day 24

Back from Spain. The slight tan that I got from spain seemed to help my skin. I used the Differin 4 times in the week and did not use the PanOxyl wash at all out there. My skin seems to have calmed down. I used the PanOxyl wash today, if I have another bad breakout I will sop using that and just use the Differin and tablets.

Day 29.

I've been keeping myslef busy with a job and the gum so haven't been thinking too much about my spots. I obviously still hate them, just want the regimen to do good.

Day 31

I think i'm getting less active acne coming about. However there is still a lot of red marks around ym chin and other areas. This is really annoying, I'm hoping that will fade and I won't get a lot more active spots which will give me more red marks.

Day 34

This is so hard today. There are so mnay puprply or red marks on my face. Its so upsetting. I want to stop the PanOxyl wash because it really makes my face red after I apply it but I think thats suppose to happen. A log that I was reading on this said that it sarted to improve after a month and half/ 2 months, I'm not exactly a month because I started on the 21st of June. So I have to be strong and stick with it. So hard though just wanna cry a lot.

Wanna go on the tanning beds!
