day 100 (OMG 100!! HOLY SHIZZ!!)
so ive been on my regime for 100 days now (if i did the math right...), and my skin looks niceee. i can now go out in public without makeup, and not hide my face, not wonder if the boy glancing at me is looking at me because im pretty or because of my skin, I just enjoy it. Because my skin looks good. And it makes me happy. School started yesterday. I want to go to school for just one day without makeup, just one and it will make this school year a win. But I feel, after I've gone one day without, I'll be able to go more days and mroe days without. And I'll be happy.

Guys, I think I may come off as semi-conceded on this log. Always talkin bout boys and stuff. Guy's dont care if you have acne, they just dont. And yes, I know this isn't gonna keep you from hiding your next breakout from your crush, but boys dont effing care. AT ALL. Boys like me the same amount with acne, and without acne.

Anywho, I've been very consistent with my skincare routine, I've only missed applying my tazorac once, and that was because I had an overnight at camp and wanted my makeup to stay on until the next day. I always wash my makeup off as soon as I get home, I wash my face basically every morning (maybe miss 1 morning every couple of months?) and I always always always wash my face at night.

To answer your question Lilavh26, i grind up normal cheap-o outmeal and add a few drops of water and apply it to my face face like a mask. I also use this mixture when I run out of cleanser, before i get my cleanser refilled. it works. use it.

Sorry I havent been on in like forever, I just wanted to get the most of of my last month of summer. Girl's listen to me, older boys r very nice and all, but they lie. They are very good at lying, just be warned.

i think i'm experiencing pretty typical results. i started out using it every night right off the bat, 0.05%, though most people ease into it. at 3 weeks my skin exploded and has been going through a cycle of breaking out and healing nicely since then. but i will say the breakouts i do get resolve themselves quicker every time, and the aczone i was prescribed to use in correlation with the atralin keeps them from becoming to painful or inflamed. i'm nearly over the hard part, and i'm ridiculously excited to see what happens in the next few months.(it's all uphill from here.)
btw i'm 20 and had flawless skin all through my teen years... so all the insensitive kids in your grade could end up with acne as bad or worse than yours at any time. believe me, i'd rather have dealt with acne in middle school than college but it is definitely a curse either way.

Guys, I lurk on these boards a lot, and every1 keeps talking about how different their lives would be if they didn't have acne. And yes, when your clear (or mostly clear, like me) life is different, your more care-free, don't have to worry bout your makeup coming off, and your generally happier. However, havign clear skin does not do what you think it will, like I thought once I ahd clear skin, I woulbebe uber confidant, and be able to ask out, and get any guy I wanted. That is not the case. The guys who liked me when I had moderate acne are the ones who still like me, the guys who didn't like me when I had acne still don't like me. Which I admit, is a little dissapointing. I guess the point I'mtrying to make is, live your life as if you don't have acne, because people will treat you the same either way. And I hadmoderate acne, so don't be like "you only ever had mild acne, you don't know what I go through", my acne was pretty bad, and it was closer to severe than mild on the moderate scale.

A word of wisdom from a girl who's a bit older than you: boys like (and approach) girls who are smiling and happy. So if you're walking around feeling insecure and not smiling because of your acne, yes, it will make a difference. But if you pretend like you don't have acne even if you do and keep a smile on your face, you'll be approachable and notice that suddenly you're a boy magnet. smile.gif

Thanks for sharing your story. Many of the posters are adults and I appreciate the perspective of a young teen, as my 11yo (almost 12) is having a very rough time with her skin right now and I'm trying to help her as best I can. Your story really helps.

I'm REALLY happy that things are going well for you and your skin.

thanks 4 the advice lilahv26! hahah
and to happydaze22, im so sorry your daughter had to go through having acne, and I would HIGHLY recommend the regimen im on, IT WORKS!
And, I would love it if you could tell your daughter this, and say it was from someone who knows what she is going through-
You will get through this. I know having acne is really hard, and I dont know about you, but I've had MANY breakdowns caused from breakouts, haha. But I just want you to know that boys will still think your pretty, even with your acne (in fact, most guys dont notice, and if they do, they won't care), my friend and I both have (well, for me, had) bad skin, and we are quite popular with the boys, because we're friendly, we take good care of our hair and body (if you gonna have bad skin, you might as well have a good everything else, right? haha), and we just plain try. So don't worry about your acne, I know it's hard to do, but try to forget about it. I wear foundation, it makes me feel better, and if you want to wear it, I suggest you do. Just remember, don't overdo the makeup, I know sometimes you might feel like you have to apply a lot of makeup to distract from your skin, but don't, natural always wins (trust me, I've learned the hard way). So what I guess im trying to say is don't let your skin get to you, your probably quite beautiful, and boys will still think your pretty, no matter how bad your acne gets.

Anywho, I thought I'd give you guys a little update!! My skin is good. Really good. So good that when I have feild hockey practice and my makeup gets sweated off, and all the boys see me (we practice next to boys soccer, a little nerve racking for an awkward girl like me! haha) I don't freak out! In fact, my skin is so good, that I may not even wear makeup to school tomorrow! And that's a huge deal for me, considering that I wouldnt even step outside my house without wearing a full face a couple months ago! My friend, you also has acne (we used to be sort of, well, acne-buddies, except I was WAY more self-concious about it than she was), has even asked for the name of my derm, cause she wants my skin!

So ya, my skins been looking good. And I've been happy with it. And if your suffering with your skin, PLEASE try my regemine. GOOD LUCK.

So my skin's hasnt been looking too hot recently.... hmmm... stupid skin! I mean, it's still loads better than it was a few months ago, but it's not so good that I want to go without makeup. In fact, its at the point where I dont want people to see me after feild-hockey... sigh.

I think it's due to the recent change in humidy, because the weathers been causing my skin to freak out. Like it's really dry, and irritated, and now pimply! GRRRR!

Ok, so yesterday I was faced with a bit of a dilema... and after ponderthing the situation 4 a while, i think i made the right choice...

So yesterday I was a party, and I had a big-ass scab on my forehead because I can't stop picking my pimples, but I had managed to masterfully cover the scab with makeup. Until, someone suggested we go swimming... my makeup is no match for clorinated water! But I didn't want to seem like a downer, so I happily jumped into the pool, with my clothes on, like everyone else, and watched my makeup wash off leaving me looking like pimply doof, in front of the guy I liked. But guess wat? I don't think it really mattered! Because he still texted me today, talking about how much fun the party was, and how the swimming was the best part. So in the end, it was better to be a pimply, fun-loving, swimming doofus, instead of a clear-skinned looking downer.

So I guess the moral of the story is don't let acne keep you from having fun! People care more about wat you do, then how you look!

heyheyheyyy!

So... it's been a while. Anyways, my skins been being a biottchhh recently, but that's beacause the weathers been SUPER random (hello new england! Posted Image), and guess what i discoverd? MY SKIN GETS SOOOOO DRY. I've been using a lot of clay masks, and my skin has been basically falling off. The cold weather also is making my skin get uber dry. What I've learned from this however, is thta coconut oil is AWESOME. When I could feel my dry skin tearing with every facial movement, I decided that screw it, it's time to try out the coconut oil. AND IM A COCONUT OIL NUT! I coat my hair in it (not to brag... but I have awesome hair. People tell me it looks photshoped, I get complimented on it regulary form strangers. Ya, its that cool hahhaha), but I was always too afriad of it's zit-bting abilities to use it. But it's amazing! Now it's not an overnight cure, but it's pretty close. Slathered on top of my tazorac at night, I wake up with moderat;ey improved skin. If I coninue this routiene, I should get almost clear (i feel like I'm always gonnna have like 1 pimple at any moment, cause hey, I'm a teen).

And some kid called me acne-face. But it doesn't matter. People still think I'm pretty. Boys still like me. He can call me acne-face, but that's his problem.

Made me cry a lot when it happened though.

OH, and I'm officially offf my pills.
