I'm currently on a tropical clindamycin phosphate and tretinoin 0.1 % cream and oral minocycline. It has help a lot but I currently have a two cysts on my chin, 3 cyst looking things on my forehead, one the size of a pea where my glasses pad touches my nose and one on the side of my nose, and I can feel and see one emerging from my cheek. No far I've tried toothpaste and egg whites (mixed results in the past). Now I will try calamine lotion and see what happens. I just checked the expiring date and it said May 2008. Will this still work or should I not ever try to use it. Also I have regular calamine lotion (calamine 8% & zinc oxide 8%) and caldyphen lotion (calamine 8% & pramoxine HCI 1%). Will this two work differently? If they come to a head I attempt to pop them gently with my fingers and a washcloth. When I finish I disinfect them with rubbing alcohol. I covered them with bandages as well. Any other ideas?

Hmmm. I haven't been able to get cysts to go away overnight, so if someone figures out how, I'd love to know. The fastest way as I understand is to see a derm for a cortizone shot but that's not a home remedy. I have been able to get cysts to shrink in a few weeks by putting 2.5% benzoyl peroxide on them maybe once or twice a day and sometimes aloe vera gel on top of that. I've heard of people using salicyclic acid products with some success. Some people swear by toothpaste but that was just too irritating for me, also sulfur products really help some people dry up cysts. However, if you're already using the clindamycin and tretinoan, you probably don't want to irritate the skin too much by adding stuff like toothpaste and all the over the counter products on top of it. Irritation definitely does not help inflammation go away any faster. Avoiding excessive irritation is a really good idea when you're trying to calm down inflamed skin. Sometimes, a simple ice cube wrapped in a paper towel and held gently on the skin for just a few minutes can help some with the inflammation. I'm wondering if just gently icing the spots for a few minutes and then continuing to put clindamycin and tretinoan on your skin will help the cysts dry up or come to a head quicker.
I usually wrap just a little bit of kleenex around my fingers before I pop something that has come to a head and then put something antibiotic on it to disinfect (like benzoyl peroxide, etc.). You're smart to be gentle.

What I find that helps at least reduce the size, it doesn't make it go away completely but helps a lot I think, is to use Tea Tree Oil on it. Just dip a Q-Tip in it and then lightly put it over the spot. You may need to dilute depending how well your skin can handle it. Hope this helps.

I've had enough acne experience to know it's almost impossible to make cysts dissappear overnight. I tried to use calamine lotion and it just made my noncysts to come to heads. No effect on the cysts. I had some On the Spot treatment that contains tea tree oil, not sure how much, but dunno if it will work. I think I'll try my old tube of refining mask and see if that will have a positive outcome. Thanks for your replys!

Another vote for TTO, use it until the spot is no long raised then stop. Don't use TTO on the marks left the bump is gone (hyper-pigmentation,) personally I've found that this can often lead to the spot flaring up again. Still great for killing active spots.
