Just went through with the subcision. I'm all bandaged up right now, and will be until tomorrow afternoon. Hoping for the best.

I just had subcision done today too. You planning on using the suction method? Expect downtime of 6-10 days.

No are you? Does your doctor use it, or do you do something on your own? Is this your first subcision, and where are your scars?

Id highly recommend performing the suction method as it would likely give you even more improvement... plus it's free

The bandages are off and everything looks really good. It's sad to think the swelling will go down and the scars will be back, but as for now I can almost imagine what my face used to look like. I am hoping the scar respond well. Time will tell. I am taking vitamin c and arnica tablets under the tongue for the bruising.

I'm going to clean the hose on my vacuum hose (make the suction as low as it can go which is still pretty strong.

"We also observed such common re-depression in our patients in the first 2–3 weeks after subcision as follows: start of re-depression from 2–5 days after subcision, rapid progress of re-depression up to about the 10th day of subcision and gradual progression for about 1 week more. This is concurrent with absorption of oedema and haemorrhage in dermal pocket and completion of healing process of dermal wound. Therefore, considering the possibility of doing suction by microdermabrasion device, we hypothesized that repeated suctioning (or vacuum) of the subcised scars at the recurrence period might prevent re-depression by induction of repeated haemorrhage in dermal pocket, delay in healing and more new connective tissue formation at the scar area.

Therefore, we decided to use repeated suctioning on the subcised scars at the recurrence period as a complementary treatment to subcision and to evaluate the efficacy of this combination therapy in treatment of acne and other depressed scars.
"

Suction procedure.  Suctioning was performed with a hand-piece of microdermabrasion device-Clair Derm Australia-(without crystal abrasion, with a 5 mm disposable nozzle) by a trained nurse, on the subcised scars, which had the same level as the skin or depressing. Suctioning was performed by both vertical and horizontal hand-piece motions non-traumatizingly.

In the beginning of suction period, elevated lesions were not suctioned until they became flat. On the first days, we used less negative pressure; but in the subsequent sessions, depending on the condition of scars, we could increase negative pressure (even to maximum: −70 mmHg), length of time (not more than 4 s in each pass) and the number of suctioning passes (even 8–12 passes) per session. ‘Effective suctioning caused oedema and haemorrhages in the subcised scars and led to elevation of depressing scars above the skin surface’

what would you figure to be a better choice. I can always put an attachment on, like a long tube you use to clean corners lol. that would take lessen the pressure a bit.

I tried it today and it works very well. I'm going to do it daily for 2 weeks and see if it gives me good improvements. This is my first subcision so I have nothing to compare it to.

I'm sure they make handheld devices specifically for skincare purposes. A vacuum cleaner...wouldn't be my first choice. But what do I know?

The resurgence of people getting subcision is interesting to me. I don't think there are any derms in my area that even do it. It's all lasers, laser, lasers. Sigh.

A vacuum should be fine. But having it on with too much power is obviously a bad idea. If you look at the picture, there is quite a bit of force used from that microdermabrasion tool that is sucking the skin up.

A lot of doctors dont advertise this service but they do perform it. You have to ask for it.

After what amount of time from subcision can you be sure that your scar won't depress down anymore. A week? two? have you seen it gradually improve within a month after. Just curious about how long till you can be sure that final results are permanent without microswelling.

After 2 weeks it will stop but usually not much after the first week. My results at 2 weeks have always been virtually the same a year later.

It's been one week and my scars are looking really improved. I'm very happy for the first round. Hopefully it doesn't depress more this coming week. I'm liking the progress I see so far. I am doing the suction method several times during the day.
