Day 56

So I'm discouraged. VERY discouraged.

My face is no better than it was before I started the regimen, and I'm 56 days in... I am seriously considering take a break from the regimen, specifically BP. The thing is, I'm tired of the long process, and the dry skin, and the tight feeling of the BP on my skin. I hate it. And the one thing keeping me going was that I hoped so badly it was going to work. But, I just don't think it is. I keep breaking out, a lot.

I've been tracking everything pretty closely and my skin really isn't any less broken out than before I started. Sometimes it's worse. And it's definitely less comfortable because of all the product... I'm just not sure it's worth it to keep going.

I finally have my new health insurance set up so I'm going to call and make an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm just not sure what I'll do.

I've read horror stories about what happens when people go off the BP because their skin is so dependent on it (which I don't really like the idea of at all). But I just don't think it's helping...

I haven't made any definite decisions yet, but I'm leaning towards stopping the BP and seeing what happens... I just wish it was working! sad.gif

your not even 2 months in... how can you call it a long process? Long would be the time you have suffered with acne. Wait at least 4 and things will get better. It takes a while to work but it will. read my log and see where I was around the 2 month point. your not the only one. don't go off bp because your skin will not get better. the cost/reward here is a no brainer.

hope you make the right decision

when i said i'm tired of the long process i was referring to the time the regimen takes in the morning and at night, not how long i've been on it.

thanks for your reply. i'm not sure what i'm gonna do. but i do know my skin, very well. i'm not sure this is the thing for me. we'll see though, i'm still weighing my options.

Just to further clarify on my Day 56 post...

I'm not saying the regimen doesn't work. Obviously there are TONS of people on these boards who it has worked for. All I'm saying it that I'm not sure it's working for me, both the lifestyle and the actual products.

According to Dan's "What To Expect" information, for mild acne, I should be all clear by this point. If anything, I'm worse. And I'm not just having a breakout, it's continual. If we want to consider my acne moderate there should be breakouts, but by this point there should be some progress, there isn't.

I know some of you believe it takes a lot longer then Dan suggests. That may be true... But if something is going to take 6 months to show any progress for me, and then I'm going to be committed/dependent on the regimen for the rest of my life, I'm not really sure how I feel about that.

Again, I haven't made any decisions yet. I'm just sharing my frustrations and what I am feeling right now.

I understand. Mine was mild as well. Didn't have any scars, and only had a few on my face at a time that were manageable. I told one of my friends I was on the regimen and his reaction was, "what, why?you dont have acne".

Like you I expected it to work much quicker because of dan's what to expect and the mild nature of my acne. But it took about a month longer to be completely clear. As for the time it takes, I've just got used to it. It's become a part of my routine and I don't even really think about doing it anymore. I take a shower and 5 minutes after apply BP, go eat while it dries then get dressed and apply moisturizer. You find ways to incorporate it into your life. Although I will say it's annoying when your out drinking or camping etc.

I too am a little worried about having to rely on it and wonder when I can stop. But for me it's worth it because having clear skin is fantastic and my confidence has gone through the roof. I still get breakouts every now and then but they are usually 1-2 pimples that go away within 3 days and they only happen every month or so.

It will work for you if you give it time. Again, I encourage you to read my log. It was full of ups and a lot of downs but I pushed through and obtained clear skin.
