I just read about the benefits of adding vitamin C, E and Ferulic serum for anti-aging. But there are also some additional benefits to Vit C such as promoting collagen production and reducing inflammation. Does anyone have any experience where their acne improved because of topical Vitamin C?

Im also curious about this. In terms of the whole improving collagen production and reducing inflammation - is that meant to allow for a reduction in oiliness as well? Because with oily/inflamed/broken up skin my skin tends to get darker in the summer as well as more inflamed and spottier. Ive read that as well as healing skin, Vit C can lighten...

Ahhh! No! First off, the Vitamin C should be in the form of L-Ascorbic Acid. Second, it should never be more tan 20%.

I tried a brand of skin treatment in which a topical form of vitamin C was the key ingredient. The product was by Ole Henriksen and is available at Sephora. I had amazing results with it; I even noticed a reduction in oil, which weirded me out, because that was not an effect I was necessarily seeking with it's use. Not that I'm complaining, but it was unexpected. Though, after researching vitamin C and it's effect on the skin, it makes sense, indirectly.
Hope this helps.

No, mine is going to be around 10-15%. Did you apply the capsules that you're supposed to ingest? I heard those aren't pure enough and aren't the right type to be applied topically as the other poster mentioned already.

Thanks, that did help! Gives me more confidence to use it. I'm just worried because I break out when I use glycolic acid and salicylic acid at too high a percent (>10% and >1% respectively), so I was thinking that the acidity of vitamin C might also give me the same reaction. I hope not!
