I'm looking to buy a quality vitamin d3 supplement, but what am I to look for when choosing between the quality ones and the crappy ones?

I plan on getting a softgel one and taking at least 4,000 IU per day, but other than that...what else do I look for?

Thanks!

I would get the 2 ingredient Vitamin D3 by Douglas Labs for $22. There is gluten, grain, dairy, soy, or anything else in it.

Although you need a prescription to buy it from Douglas Labs site, I've seen it for sale on Froogle (www.Froogle.com) and on the Gluten Free Society's website without prescription.

If in terms of quality, you might go for an account @ consumerlabs.com. I never heard about issues of oxidation, but there are probably some brands that don't live up to their label. I use one from swanson that contains gelatin(beef), water/glycerin, safflower; it's 5k IU. Carlson (which is a reputable brand) sells them @ 2k IU as well.

Choose the liquid form. Better absorbed and well stomach tolerated.
I'd suggest to looking for VITAMIN D3 as cholecalciferol from lanolin, in extra virgin olive oil.
