A little background:
I have been fighting moderate to severe acne for eleven years. During my teen years, my parents tried everything. I saw dermatologists for years, tried every topical and internal prescription known to man, and eventually went on Accutane at age 15. I was on Accutane for six months and, yes, it cleared my skin up. For awhile...
I had occasional breakouts all through high school. At age 19 I joined the military and my acne flared again. In the four years since then, I've used many different brand name acne regimens as well as quite a few all-natural ones. In the past year I've been seeing a dermatologist again. He put me on minocycline, benzoyl peroxide wash, and retin-a (old friend). I was on all of that for over six months before I gave up. It did nothing for me other than dry my skin out and help me build resistance to yet another antibiotic. I'm sure that Accutane would work again, but I don't want to go through that process again, nor do I have the money.
So, eleven years later, I am willing to try anything. I came across Urine Therapy on this website and then proceeded to Google like a mad woman. I have even asked the MD that I work for. He has assured me that, while he is skeptical about whether it will work, nothing negative can come from it. So, in my opinion, it's worth a shot.
My lifestyle and regimen:
I have been a vegetarian for just over a year. I don't drink milk, but I do eat cheese, and eggs on occasion. I run (2-3 miles) 3 to 5 times per week and do strength training 3 times per week. I do not drink soda, only tea (oolong and black) and water. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, tofu, lentils, and whole grains.
I have been doing UT for seven days topically. I have switched to Burt's Bees all natural cleanser and have stopped using lotion or any other topical products alltogether. I do use Bare Minerals foundation to cover my acne at work. Upon suggestion from a friend who is also doing UT, I have started using urine to replace moisturizer under my makeup. My day as of now goes like this:
Morning:
Wake up
Pee in sterile cup
Using a cotton ball, apply thin layer to face
Seal cup and take it with me
Run/Strength Training
Wash face w/ Burt's Bees Cleanser
Apply layer to face
Apply Bare Minerals foundation
Evening:
Wash face w/ Burt's Bees Cleanser
Apply thin layer from sterile cup
Wash off after 20-30 minutes
Apply another later prior to bed and do not rinse
Like I said, I'm at a place where I'm willing to try anything and this seems to have worked well for others. Since starting a week ago, I have noticed that my skin is significantly less dry and more smooth. Several pimples have surfaced and are clearing quickly. I have been told that this is the "purging" stage that lasts for a couple of weeks for some people. I've noticed that no one has pictures to support their claims, so I will be posting picture updates. For obvious reasons, I do not have pictures from before last week. I have attached pics (with awesome racoon mask) from day seven using UT.
I will update at least weekly
