UPDATE: May 30 2011 : after the first two weeks of rolling (skin needling) on the damaged parts of my skin (3 x per week with about 2 or 3 days spacing between rolling), I have now started to roll with more pressure especially on my damaged forehead. Little speckles of blood are drawn (just a few speckles as I use a 0.75mm skin needle novaderm roller) to help induce the collagen and healthy skin tissue cells. I read somewhere that if you induce blood speckles when rolling, you get better results, this is indeed the case, at least for me. But you have to be careful to allow the skin to heal in-between rolling or else you'll stop your skin from healing and keep re-damaging it if you continue too often.

But have to say, my forehead is really improving...I'd say between 30-40% better so far...will give it another 1.5 months to see if I can achieve 100% improvement. Will let you know.

ALSO: DON'T OVER-WASH..GO SOME DAYS OR A FEW DAYS WITHOUT WASHING YOUR BODY/FACE/ HAIR SO NATURAL HEALTHY OILS CAN SOOTHE AND HEAL YOUR SKIN!!...DRY SKIN CAN CAUSE SCARS...YOU DAILY NEED HEALTHY, GLOWING, WELL-HYDRATED SKIN. TRY HYALURONIC ACID (HA SERUM from Clear SKincare Clinics) AS A LIGHT BUT EFFECTIVE MOISTURIZER--IT WON'T CAUSE ACNE BUT LEAVE YOUR SKIN SOFT AND HYDRATED.

Wise words N.Clare smile.gif!!!....thanks!

i.e. Steer clear of chemically laced acne products and use natural, organic products if you want longterm healthy skin!!!

And glycolic acid based products (i.e. 10-12% strength) & monthly or annual glycolic acid skin peels (depending on your skin needs 15-30% strength generally & no higher unless suggested by a professional doctor in-clinic use and only up to 35%-40% in most severe cases) are AMAZING!!! Thanks for sharing that MEGA important skincare tip!!!:)

Cheers,

I tried a treatment of laser to get rid of my deep pits but it made my skin really really badly red and left it like that for almost 2 weeks! it was also very expensive so I used the zenmed scar kit and at first i thought it wasn't working because it wasn't irritating me or anything but i look at my skin and i do notice a difference and my parents have commented that my skin is smoother. some of the ideas you gave are nice starts and probably do work but this kit works and it isnt super expensive liek other creams or lasers.

I agree that green tea and basic skin health and good body health goes a long way for clear skin and i think that's what greatly helped me get rid of my acne to begin with - its too bad it scared really badly before it went away.

Hi Gammygam,

I haven't tried laser and I hope not too either.

I am completely acne free through eating a vegan, mainly raw, organic, wholefood, healthy, alkaline diet and using mainly natural topicals like fresh lime juice, monthly sea-salt washes, (and very very rarely nowadays, the application of crystal alum stick i.e. 1 or twice a year. I also use organic lavender oil for spot treatment and often wear 10% glycolic acid along with a little daily organic macadamia oil or otherwise hyaluronic acid serum [HA Serum from Clear Skincare Clinics] for effective but lighter hydration. Pure natural Vitamin e around the eyes are great too...keeps wrinkles at bay). I also exercise gently but regularly and do detox/ liver cleansing fresh juices regularly. I must say that I would recommend people avoid any caffeinated teas, including green tea and of course coffee; non-caffeinated (i.e. herbal tisanes) are fine though. Caffeine acidifies the body and causes acne in acne prone people. Also, avoid tap water (fluoride in tap water causes acne and chlorination depresses the immune system) & sodas but drink alkaline (preferably ionized) spring water instead.

For scarring, I also recommend skin needling with the novaderma's 0.75mm home roller 2 or 3 times a week (spaced out 2 or 3 days) with Copper Peptide serum (but only use Copper Peptide serum short term i.e. 2-3 months as it can thin the skin); or for pigmentation and damaged skin/ wrinkles, skin needling with Vitamin C serum & hyaluronic acid (with the possibility of "New Skin" and "Clear Skin" -- short-term use only i.e. 2-3 months max as it contains hydroquinone 2%) -- (NOTE: You can get all this from Clear Skincare Clinics). I'm using both methods. This is significantly improving my skin & texture through natural collagen induction therapy. SKIN NEEDLING ACTUALLY RESTORES THE SKIN CELLS AND SKIN TISSUE AND MAKES IT THICKER, SOFTER, MORE REFINED, SMOOTHER & HEALTHY. Unlike laser which causes longterm radiation damage and hastens aging.

So far, my scars and pigmentation issues are responding reaaalllllly well. However, I was considering laser if the skin needling didn't work for my scars and skin damage but it looks like I won't need it because the severely damaged parts of my skin (from BP liberally applied on my forehead) is responding so well and gets healthier looking each day!! smile.gif

As for Zenmed, never heard of it. But if it's naturally based with no harmful chemicals and it works for you, then great!! Go for it!! smile.gif

Also, I suggest you start skin needling for your scars and skin damaged from laser. It works and it won't damage your skin if you do it gently and in a sterilized, hygienic way. !!! In fact, it will Reverse your skin cell damage, Repair it and Retore it to health, NATURALLY!!! smile.gif

Cheers,

UPDATE 3 June 2011

Just a quick update to say that I'm giving home skin needling a rest for 2-4 weeks. I did an intense session recently and don't want to disrupt the collagen formation. My skin felt super sensitive too last time. However, I might do a 30% glycolic acid peel at a spa soon. I'll let you know how it goes...

Also, here's a great educational video on skin needling:

http://www.youtube.c...40lVanBqSQ&NR=1

Please note they show 1.5mm professional needling excerpts (however, I'm using the safer smaller at home size of 0.75mm)

I also saw this posted here on the forum which was promising:

BP and all the other harsh chemically-based acne products are just not worth the longterm health of your skin. I speak from experience.

Instead, address the root cause of your acne: that is, it's suffering from toxicity -- both caused through environmental toxins & internal excess hormones.

The solution: To overhaul your lifestyle -- longterm. i.e. DETOX

Go organic, nutrient complete, mostly raw vegan (NB just do this wisely so you don't miss out on ANY nutrients like B12, Omega-3, Iodine, Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, complete Protein)...so, cut out all meat & diary, take some key supplements, exercise gently often/ daily, love yourself and only use natural & gentle topicals.

Cheers,

AS

I live with health freaks, eat nothing but organic food, and am required to take multivitamins every day. I am very healthy and exercise often. Yet, I still have acne and have had acne. Please don't cite a woman from Yahoo Answers who obviously was ridiculously harsh on her skin as your only example of skin care products' effect on the skin. Modern medicine is available and has been proven more effective when natural remedies or lifestlyle changes fail (as they often do). I don't believe that if everyone became vegan then nobody would have acne, not to mention this is illogical for many reasons.

Hi TamaDrummer,

Do you still eat meat and/or dairy? If so, please stop doing it and see what happens over 1-2 months. Instead, try going mostly raw vegan, alkaline PH diet and use a natural antibiotic like sea-salt washes and crystal alum i.e.:http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Tips-healthy-acne-fre-t295915.html

For more severe conglobata type case suggestions see here: http://www.acne.org/...p...t&p=3092069

The fact is, meat, dairy and eggs are loaded with hormones, pesticide, antibiotics and other serious toxins etc. And the western diet is saturated with these acne/ disease causing toxins (like artificial preservatives, chemicals, colorings, allergy causing additives etc).

Indeed, in most places where they eat a plant based, organic diet, they don't get acne. This is a purely western diet/ industrialised age phenomenon. And moreover, if you don't get acne, you might get cancer, arthiris, heart disease etc. See http://www.acne.org/...p...t&p=3092345 & http://www.youtube.c...embedded#at=515

Just Google the Rave diet (which is vegan) and see how many billionaire moguls have started to eat vegan because they want to live healthy & long lives. They know it's the key to longevity, good skin and great longterm health.

So, I'm not just posting this for kicks. I've suffered moderate/ severe acne for a heck of a long time. And I want others to know the dangers of a toxic diet, toxic acne treatments longterm etc. Basically, I know that when I stopped being in denial about a good, natural, organic mostly raw diet being central to clear skin, that's when my skin cleared. I also stopped the acne bacteria/ fungal infections by using sea-salt washes (potent antibiotic, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory) , crystal alum sticks (stops bacteria and fungus growth) and fresh lime juice (antiseptic and collagen boosting with vitamin c). But these were just used short term as they're too dying longterm. I now use glycolic acid 10% strength and water only (spring water), eat a healthy mostly raw vegan diet and exercise. My skin is clear. I'm now addressing the severe BP damage/ acne topical damage & rolling acne scarring with skin needling. (NOTE: If it wasn't for the BP damage, my skin would be waaaay better now even though it's acne free).

This is the reality. Research it yourself. Hope it helps you sooner rather than later.

Cheers,
AS

Quote & Resources:

Dr Fuhrman

"We routinely hear that asthma, acne, allergies, arthritis, herpes, reflux esophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome and many more have nothing to do with diet. This is simply not true. Doctors are trained as experts in prescribing and monitoring the risks and effectiveness of medications. They typically have little or no expertise in using nutrition as their primary modality of treatment. They are biased in favor of their own method of treatment (drugs) and do not have broad experience or training in motivating patients and utilizing nutritional and lifestyle interventions".

NEW SKIN NEEDLING STUDY:

Since I'm skin needling, I found this new study really promising...

http://www.cosderm.c...F/024040177.pdf

I haven't heard of this procedure being mainstream yet, it's called Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) combined with skin needling (for acne scarring treatment). The researchers say the results are even better than needling alone or with vitamin serums. I also have read somewhere else on this website and elsewhere that for really deep scarring, tattoo needling works best (I think using water too). I haven't heard of any spas or dermatologists using tattoo needles. Has anyone here used a tattoo needle for skin needling?

hey aquasea, i've been following your advise and my skin has significantly improved giving up flouride toothpaste has given me the most improvement, However I am still left with some mild acne on my chin which I think could be cleared by giving up tap water like you said (since its contains flouride like toothpaste) but I can't get a filter or anything like that because my parents said no, so wouldyou reccommend bottled water? and which brands, would evian be okay?

3. Drink a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice mixed with a glass of warm mineral/ spring water first thing in the morning. (Alkalizes & purifies body).

Thanks for the great tips. I was just wondering how could lemon juice alkalize our bodies since it is acidic, its ph is about 2? I've been drinking it as well as the apple cider vinegar(its pH is 3) but now I'm confused. Do you know what the pH of our stomachs should be?My biology teacher said stomach acid's pH is 1 rolleyes.gif Now I'm even more confused...

NOTE For severe acne vulgaris or conglobata here are some extra potent detox tips:

1. Be committed 24/7 to a healthy, nutrient packed, 95% raw VEGAN DIET.

Yes, that means, no dairy, no meat, no fish, NO JUNK!!!!!

2. Drink liver cleansing juices 3 times per day

i.e. beetroot/ apple/ carrot or

i.e. cucumber/ celery/ apple/ spinach leaves/ alfalfa sprouts or

i.e. wheatgrass shots

For inspiration see: http://addictionblog...d-liver-detox/; http://www.liverdoctor.com/

3. Drink a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice each morning with warm spring water. (Alkaline and detoxes the body) and then take a tablespoon of cold pressed organic flaxseed oil for omega-3.

4. On your active acne place 5% niacinamide gel: See http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7657446?dopt=Abstract ; http://gmuntz.tripod...acinamide.html; http://www.acnemiracle.com/home.html

5. Take 1 tablet of 140mg to 280 mg per day of milk-thistle dosage; it's a potent liver regenerating herb and liver detox herb. See http://www.umm.edu/a...stle-000266.htm ; http://www.herbalrem...e-benefits.html

6. Drink 1 or 2 liters of alkaline spring water from a glass or non-bisphemol bottle (you'll need to research this). If you can, get an ionizer too to ionize your water.

7. Take an activated charcoal tablet at least once a day (get this from the healthfood store). However, ask your doctor if you can take it 2 times per day for 2 weeks to kick-start your major detox. Do this for 2 weeks only though. Then take a rest for 2 weeks. You can then repeat again for 2 weeks. But only do this for a total of 2 months. As charcoal is very potent.

i.e. You see, activated charcoal tablets are industrial strength cleansers. They actually give it to people in the hospitals who have swallowed a poison or have a heroin overdose. It's that POWERFUL at detoxing poisons and toxins from the body. Just don't break the capsule as inhaling the charcoal is very bad for the lungs. And don't continue using it for more than 2 weeks at time. See http://www.ehow.com/...used-for_.html; http://www.livestron...arcoal-tablets/ ; http://www.earthclin...s/charcoal.html

Also, be warned, it makes you constipated so you must drink at least 1 or 2 litres of spring water per day plus a glass of prune juice.

8.[b] Take a daily bath in a clean disinfected tub with about a 1/2 or 1 cup of pure sea-salt (get this online or from the health-food store). This is the best natural antibiotic known to humans and is PH neutral, meaning its gentle and healing yet powerful in disinfecting your body. Only wash your hair with sea-salt too. However, if you need something more heavy duty for your hair, try a little bicarbonate soda or a very gentle, high quality, natural, non-toxic shampoo from the health food -- only wash your hair with the healthfood store shampoo once a week.

9. Eats lots of raw, organic wholefoods foods like: pears; kiwi fruit; rockmelon; watermelon; berries, fresh homemade guacamole with fresh lime juice/ sea-salt/ extra virgin olive oil; strawberries; blueberries; apples; alfalfa sprouts; rice; bananas; cos lettuce; grated cabbage & grated carrot salads with fresh lemon juice/ olive oil/ sea- salt; hummus; salads with contintental parsley/ mint/ cos lettuce/ fresh lemon juice/ sea-salt/chickpeas; eat lots of turmeric spice on rice dishes etc as turmeric spice is a powerful agent against acne bacteria and disease such as cancer -- especially chronic skin ailments i.e. so eat lots of turmeric on jasmine rice with peas/ freshly grated ginger/ coconut milk/ fresh lime juice/ virgin coconut oil/ cold pressed organic flaxseed oil/ hummus; drink pink grapefruit juice with fresh lime juice; fresh avocado with fresh lime juice/ sea-salt/ olive oil; vanilla almond milk; rice milk; note that virgin coconut oil is antibacterial; drink coconut water; tempeh (fermented tofu) with steamed vegetables and hummus or fermented soy sauce; cucumber and cherry tomato salad with raw mixed nuts and lemon juice/ olive oil/ sea salt; vegan mushroom risotto; vegan sausages/ vegan fake chicken schnitzel/ vegan fake burger patties (can get these from a good supermarket); quinoa; lots of freshly grated beetroot (it's a potent liver detox vegetable and yummy too!!) on salads; kale; at least 1 brazil nut per day (packed with supreme antioxidant selenium); 80-85% cocoa dark chocolate without dairy (needs to be vegan or try Lindt); a little pure real maple syrup; a little blackstrap molasses; lightly steamed broccoli with olive oil/ sea salt/ hummus/ lemon juice; lightly steamed brussel sprouts with olive oil/ sea salt/ hummus/ lemon juice/ lightly steamed asparagus marinated with fresh lemon juice/ black pepper/ olive oil and topped with freshly mashed chickpeas (with tahini/ sesame seeds/ pumpkin seeds/ pine nuts/ olives/ fresh mint/ fresh coriander) etc); stuffed peppers with curried rice & lentils; homemade vegan baked falafel rolls with fresh coriander/ fresh mint/ cumin/ turmeric/ bulgur wheat/ lentils/ garlic/ red onion/ fresh lemon juice; sultanas; pineapple; for more inspiration google vegan recipes etc

Do an allergy test with your doctor to see if you have allergies to the following before you introduce these to your diet (as some people can be allergic to these): nuts, peanuts, wheat, gluten etc. If you're all clear, then you can introduce mixed raw nuts, rice, pasta (preferably gluten -free), oranges, orange juice, peas, corn, flat wholemeal, gluten-free wraps, tomatoes, muesli, garlic; onions; sea vegetables...

Eat rarely: frozen vegetables -- try and buy fresh; chillies; jalapeƱos; capers; olives; semi-sundried tomatoes; honey; lightly grilled vegetables; baked vegetables (better to lightly steam vegetables); ginger beer; pasta

Also, DO NOT EVER EAT: Vinegars, junk food, pizza, bread, processed tomato sauces, highly processed sauces like American mustard, tinned foods/ foods wrapped in plastic, chips, fried foods, cakes, biscuits, lollies, refined sugar; anything fried; caffeinated teas; coffees; soda; white flour products; alcohol; fast foods especially McDonalds.

*****NB: PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU EAT AND HOW YOUR SKIN RESPONDS. IF YOU NOTICE ANY FLAIR-UPS THEN STOP EATING THAT FOOD COLD-TURKEY!!! YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO IT. *****

10. Once EVERY week, do a 24 hour fast: just drink your liver cleansing juice and eat organic grapes. YOU MUST DO THIS TO HELP YOUR BODY HEAL AND REGENERATE. It will help stubborn deeply entrenched toxins leech out of your body fat see: http://www.detox-guide.com/

11. Drink a cup of medicinal clay i.e. " Edible Earth" every day for 1 or 2 weeks (from a glass bottle bought at a good health food store). This heals your body of toxic waste and intestinal damage. Also helps seal the intestines in case you have leaky gut syndrome. You can repeat once every month thereafter. See http://www.aboutclay...estimonials.htm ; http://www.aboutclay.../Uses/detox.htm ; http://www.shirleys-...e.com/clay.htm;

12. Have cabbage soup ready daily to eat when you feel hungry. It's nutrient packed and it's one of the only foods you can eat which actually makes you lose weight without sacrificing nutrients. You can make it like this: boil a saucepan filled with spring water; add half a fresh cabbage cut up in 1 or 2 cm thick strips and about 5 cm lengths; add a half or 1 tablespoon of turmeric spice; black pepper; 1/2 tablespoon of curry powder; diced carrots; sea-salt and peas for protein if you like (as long as you're not allergic to peas). Let it simmer for about 20minutes. Then it's ready to eat. For more taste, add some hummus. This is a delicious soup and you can eat it whenever you're hungry at any time. Helps food cravings and is a secret diet recipe for many stars. It's also great for your skin.

13. Change your pillow case every night with a new one.

14. Change your bedsheets twice per week. Disinfect all your bedsheets and pillow cases using organic lavender oil, tea-tree oil, and bicarbonate soda. Don't use regular washing detergent or softeners.

15. Sleep in a cool well-ventilated room that's dark. Get at least 7.5 hours sleep. Go to bed by 9.30pm and wakeup between 5.30 to 6.30am.

16. Take 500mg of magnesium per day; zinc 25 mg per day, vitamin E at 200 IU to 400 IU per day, B5 500mg x 3 times per day; vitamin C per day 500mg; A regular B complex group vitamin; a good vitamin D3 tablet (plus 1/2 to 1hour of direct sunshine without sunblock every day for vitamin D -- this is crucial for good healthy skin); "Vitamin B6 -- Aids in improving hormonal balance of testosterone and estrogen. Acne may sometimes be caused due to a deficiency of vitamin B6" i.e. See http://www.natural-c...y.com/acne.html :Nicotinamide (i.e. a variant of B3 vitamin): *****Studies have reported that nicotinamide in doses of 750 milligrams, combined with zinc 25 milligrams, copper 1.5 milligrams, and folic acid 500 micrograms, is effective in treating acne vulgaris with or without antibiotics (http://www.wellness....n-and-treatment)*****

Lastly, 400 micrograms of chromium in the form of yeast: "There are reports that suggest that up to 90% of the population may be deficient in chromium. Chromium is related to blood sugar - the more sugars we eat, the more chromium we need. Hence the common deficiency; most people eat excess sugar foods. Researchers have found that people with unstable blood sugar levels have a high incidence of severe acne and that when these patients are given 400 micrograms of chromium in the form of yeast, their skin rapidly improved Chromium is found in brewers yeast and molasses". see http://www.interneth...p;Lifestyle.htm

17. Do daily exercise WITHOUT EXCUSE for 30 minutes to 1 hour: try rope skipping, get a stationary bike you ride while watching TV or a walking/ running machine. Also, lift some light/medium weights. Basically, work up a sweat so you expel lots of toxins through your skin (then have a shower and wash you body and hair with sea-salt). If you can, have a regular weekly or fortnightly sauna for 2 months to get the detox happening faster. Just ensure you have a freind to monitor you and you drink lots of water. Also, shower with sea-salt afterwoods.

18. Hydrate your body & face after showering with alkaline spring water using a face mist (like Evian face mist). Do this every 2-3 hours. Only moisturize your skin after your acne has subsided with 100% pure natural vitamin E or virgin coconut oil.

Extra tips:

A. Organic MSM: If you need an extra kick, try MSM. This is known to heal skin really fast. See http://www.ehow.com/...g-msm-acne.html ; http://www.natural-c...y.com/acne.html ; http://www.clearskin...?...bcat&sid=24

C. Spirulina, chlorella, barley grass, wheatgrass supplements: http://nevyan.blogspot.com/2006/12/skin-ca...ht-acne-ii.html ; http://www.nutrition...treatments.html ; http://en.allexperts...3401/acne-2.htm

B. Meditation daily

C. Keep your spirits up! Watch lots of comedies & comedy movies...laughter will improve your immunity; medical fact!! YOU WILL OVERCOME THIS!!! smile.gif BELIEVE IT!!!

D. Have a an interest outside yourself that relaxes you like: reading books; painting; swimming; charity work etc

E: Once a month, on a COMPLETELY empty stomach FIRST thing in the morning (and never ever mix with any acidic things like vinegar or lemon juice or your stomach with expand terribly with gases), mix a teaspoon of bicarbonate soda with spring water until it dissolves. Then drink. This flushes out toxins. In fact the US military uses this as a standard detox from radiation exposure!!!!!

F: Once a week or fortnight, have a clay bath soak for 1/2hr to 1 hour See: http://www.aboutclay.com/info/Uses/acne.htm ; http://www.aboutclay...estimonials.htm

G. "Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) may help balance male hormonal levels and may be used in acne therapy. Although no scientific evidence exists for the use of saw palmetto for acne treatment or prevention, traditional uses support saw palmetto's benefits in acne. Caution is advised when taking saw palmetto supplements as numerous adverse effects including drug interactions are possible. Saw palmetto is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless otherwise advised by a doctor." From http://www.wellness....n-and-treatment

H. Phototherapy: Studies have reported that visible light may successfully be used to treat acne, particularly intense blue light generated by purpose-built fluorescent lighting, dichroic bulbs, LEDs or lasers. Used twice weekly, this has been reported to reduce the number of acne lesions by about 64%. from http://www.wellness....n-and-treatment

I. Floravital : a general iron tonic - take for a 1 month to support healing.

J: "Dandelion and Burdock Root -- i.e. "Drink a cup of dandelion root tea, 3/day. It supports your liver, which may be overtaxed with toxins."

"The largest organ of the body is the skin. The skin is one of the avenues in which toxins are eliminated from the body. The liver and the kidneys are the primary organs of elimination. When there are so many toxins that these two organs can no longer deal with them, the toxins are sent out through the skin. This is one of the causes of acne and many other skin problems. The herbs dandelion and burdock root are effective in boosting both the kidney and liver so they can be more effective in cleansing the blood.

Some more herbs that might be useful -- yellow dock, turmeric, milk thistle and cleavers. Milk thistle is a liver tonic. Turmeric, yellow dock and cleavers are blood purifiers which are known to help the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system eliminates toxins out through the skin". K: Wild organic Oregano oil: "Oregano oil destroys yeast overgrowth associated with acne formation. Take 500 mg daily or use a liquid form".

L: Use herbal toothpaste and only fluoride toothpaste once a blue moon

M: AVOID TAP WATER.

Also, here are some other nutrients that help your digestive tract recover and increase your antioxidant potency:

- Glutamine (great for food allergies, leaky gut syndrome and intestinal repair after excessive drug usage): start at 1000mg - 4000mg per day for 2 weeks, then about 100mg per day after.

- NAC i.e. N-acetyl cysteine is building block of the most potent antioxidant glutathione which strengthens the immune system, lowers bacteria and viral infections. It also protects the liver. Take 500mg to 1000mg per day for two weeks then return to 100mg per day after that. See http://www.immune-he...lutathione.html ;

- Beta Carotene - safer alternative vitamin A; just take a recommended daily dose http://www.e2121.com/dietna.html

-Selenium -1 to 4 Brazil nuts per day should be enough, see http://www.e2121.com/dietna.html

- HIGHEST POTENCY ANTIOXIDANT TREATMENT: ****Get 3 x weekly or just 1 x weekly glutathione injections by a reputable dermatologist or doctor: this is the most potent antioxidant. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED You can get the capsules but they are no way near as effective as injections***** See http://www.immune-he...-seborrhea.html ; http://www.acne.org/...me-t187347.html ; http://www.antioxida...hione-and-acne/ ; http://www.antioxida...giving-protein/ ; http://www.max-gluta...thione-for-acne

UPDATE 7 June 2011 - Colloidal Silver --apparently it can kill ANY superbug bacteria (just take as directed by a reputable doctor/ naturopath and not longterm...as it can have contraindictions like turning your skin irreversibly grey/ silver!!) http://colloidalsilveruse.com/ , http://www.naturalne...ngineering.html.

- Dapsone gel??? I've never heard of it, but I read about it here --please research thoroughly it's potency and any related side-effects: http://www.acne.org/...p...t&p=1176031

****************************

NOTE: If ANYTHING above makes your symptoms worse, stop using it/ eating it. Because you should notice your skin improving immediately within 24 hours. However, if anything makes it worse, you are allergic to it and must cut it out ASAP and avoid it.

Do these steps for 2-3 months and I'm sure your acne will subside. By 1-2 years, it will be under control and then you can start looking into healing any scars if you have any major ones via laser/light/ sub-cision/ topical/ therapies/ recell/ skin needling/ PRP (platelet rich plasma plus skin needling)/other innovations like http://www.thevictor...om.au/scarring/ or http://www.thevictor...ophic-scarring/ etc.

Cheers,

How can I get rid of a cyst?
I've got one that I thought was just a dark scar from a previous one and then noticed in the last few days it rising up and now there's a bit of mound on my cheek!

I've gotten rid of zits before with glycolic acid spot treatment but because this is a cyst and its so huge I don't know if it would work.
Do they ever just go away on their own?
I'm eating a clean only raw diet and being very strict about it, do you think that would be enough to heal it? Or should I try and bring it do the surface with glycolic?

I've been using retin-a so my skin is very sensitive too right now.

Hi Shay Roberts,

Sorry I missed your post !!

You can google what brand comparison charts. Please buy alkaline spring water i.e. PH over 7 without fluoride or and minimal chlorine. However, please note plastic bottles are a problem too. So, try buying glass bottled water if you can (or sometimes) or try buying a cask of spring water that doesn't contain bisphenol. See http://www.naturalne..._chemicals.html

However, long term it might be good get a proper water filter (that takes out all nasty chemicals. Here are some websites to start with:

http://www.cleanairp...tled_water.html
http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC1495189/

And yes, Evian would be fine. However, with the Fukushima disaster, I'd try and buy water from the southern hemisphere now, as Evian is from France in the Northern hemisphere smile.gif Figi would be good or a NZ or Australian brand spring water.

Also, you might like to try a very low food grade .3% (i.e one that can be used as a mouthwash too, please ask your chemist for help in choosing the right concentration!!!) concentration of peroxide on your chin acne. This is mild and works really well. See http://www.thewellne...rogen-peroxide/

Also, lavender oil used very sparingly and only directly on each whitehead also helps clear spots.

Lastly, this website is useful for health news updates:

Hope this helps smile.gif

Hi Flying High,

Good question. The fact is that lemon juice does cause the body to alkalize:

Source: http://nh1.ccone.com/

"Foods are generally categorized as acid or alkaline based on the residue they leave in the human body after they have been metabolized. Often there are fad diets that recommend people eat either all acid or all alkaline foods to solve one disease or another. In reality, it is probably healthier to strive for a balanced middle ground of alkaline and acidic foods. A variety of health problems can occur when the body is either too alkaline or acidic. When the body fluids become too acidic, a condition called acidosis develops. Conversely, when the body fluids become too alkaline, alkalosis results.

Foods are determined to have either an alkaline or acid forming potential based on their pH values. (The word pH comes from the chemistry formula for calculating the concentration of hydrogen ions present in a substance. pH refers to the "power of Hydrogen.") A pH of 7 is neutral. Foods with an alkaline ash have pH values above 7. Foods with an acid ash have pH values below 7. Pure water has a neutral pH of 7.

In general most grains, dairy products, meats, seeds, legumes and nuts tend to have an acid ash. Most fruits and vegetables tend to have an alkaline ash. Cooked foods tend to be more alkaline than raw foods. Many holistic practitioners believe that modern Western diets generally are too acidic for good health due to a lack of fruits and vegetables. They often stress the importance of modifying one's diet to achieve a better acid-base balance.

However, it is generally not a good idea to assume your diet is too acidic just because that is a common problem in the general population. There are many factors that can influence the human body's pH levels. People who drink a lot of mineral water, take mineral supplements or eat highly a lot of alkaline foods such as dandelion greens or potatoes, may have an alkaline levels that are too high. Many holistic health practitioners recommended that people buy a special type of pH paper that can be used to test pH levels based on urine or saliva samples.

Foods such as orange juice and lemon juice are acidic in their natural state but turn alkaline after they have been metabolized in the body. As such, for dietetic purposes they are usually considered to be alkaline forming foods despite being acidic prior to consumption. Most fruits are alkaline except a few that include cranberries, plums and prunes. These fruits are classified as acidic because they contain acids the body can't metabolize".

As for apple cider vinegar, some people with low stomach acid report this is a therapeutic modality. And it also alkalizes in the body. But I personally wouldn't recommend any vinegar consumption for acne prone people but instead steer them towards fresh natural lemon or lime juice. This is because commercial vinegar (including apple cider) often contain added chemicals that cause acne. However, if you feel this therapy helps your skin, then use it. But if you see no improvement or a flair up of acne when you use it, switch to lemon/ lime juice.

As for gastric acid/ stomach acid see http://en.wikipedia....ki/Gastric_acid . It has a PH of 1-2.

Cheers smile.gif

Hi DC Girl,

I hope your cyst has subsided. I'm sorry I missed your post too. And yes, cysts can subside on their own.

How you should address your cyst depends on the size of the cyst, skin condition, your natural healing & skin history.

For example, if you've had success with extraction via a dermatologist, then try that again. If not, try an alternative treatment.

Personally, I think you should quit using the Retin-A. You are probably far too sensitive for it. Instead, keep eating healthily and following the regime as recommended on the first page. Try also applying hydrogen peroxide .3% on your cyst every night and morning and exercise for 30minutes to 45 minutes daily for a week or two daily so you sweat out the toxins (then shower using sea-salt for 1-2 weeks). This should invigorate your body to self-heal and expel its accumulation of excess hormones & toxins naturally. Also, get 7.5 - 8 hours of adequate sleep between 10 pm - 7am, get 1 hour of direct daily sunlight. Meditate everyday and say positive affirmations. And learn to breath deeply and relax. This should totally help you.

Some additional tips are:

A) Drink a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice each morning with warm spring water. (Alkaline and detoxes the body) and then take a tablespoon of cold pressed organic flaxseed oil for omega-3.

B) Try placing 5% niacinamide gel on your cyst if the hydrogen peroxide doesn't work: See http://www.ncbi.nlm....6?dopt=Abstract ; http://gmuntz.tripod...acinamide.html; http://www.acnemiracle.com/home.html

C) Take 1 tablet of 140mg to 280 mg per day of milk-thistle dosage; it's a potent liver regenerating herb and liver detox herb. See http://www.umm.edu/a...stle-000266.htm ; http://www.herbalrem...e-benefits.html

D) You can also try edible clay drinking formula from the health food store or 1 daily activated charcoal tablet (for 1-2 weeks) as a short-term but extra potent detox remedy.

Lastly, please note eating dairy or meat can cause acne/ cysts. And drinking sodas are bad too. Try instead drinking daily or weekly freshly made vegetable juices that cleanse the liver like beetroot/apple/carrot juice. Or spinach salad leaves/ cucumber/ carrot and alfalfa sprouts juice etc.

Cheers,
