my face is generally oily and plugged with large pores but Im very irritated today. I'm very congested and dont know what to cleanse tonight with. I have been using Garden Of Wisdoms Gentle Soothing Cleanser but it has coconut and a bit of mandelic in it and it might be too irrritating for me...I wanted to do a mask but only have regular honey in the house along with steel cut oats and the aveeno bath stuff..can someone give me some ideas about this and if I can use this to cleanse with instead of a regular cleanser

Hey wicky! This is a little late to reply but, both Tim12 and I are trying oatmeal as a cleanser! Just like this video from bubzbeauty. It's helped with redness, and (if you'll believe me), red marks. Yep! I just soak the oats in my hand and massage on. The oats turn soft and it feels creamy. The smell is beautiful.

Are the plain Oats from Quaker okay?

^ I love that video. I use 100% Whole Grain Oats (cheap store brands). They're all natural and the ingredient list is 100% Rolled Oats. One thing I think she didn't mention in the video, is that you shouldn't wash the oatmeal off into your sink because it will most likely clog the drains when it dries up
I have a big roll of this black mesh type material I bought in the gardening section at Lowes. I used it for frog aquariums but I find it's perfect to block the oats from going down the sink. I cut a piece out and simple rinse my face over-top. The water drains through, but no pieces of oats can make it down.

I think the plain oats from Quaker are fine! I've been using Quaker that I just found in my kitchen. 0 dollars, that's my kinda skincare. I also just found some finely-milled oats from Whole Foods that I'm going to try next (hiding in my cabinet). I'm sure quality counts.
Just check the ingredients and make sure the only ingredient is rolled oats! It's so cheap and amazing. Bourne is right though, I've been washing it down my sink when I probably shouldn't. Thanks for the tip!

Great idea about making sure the oats don't go down into the sink!

I like to grind my oatmeal into a powder and use it. Not sure if it can still clog pipes but I feel like it just works better that way.

Yeah it did replace my cleanser. I'm not sure if it will remove makeup cause I don't wear any to clean off. Does anyone know if powdered oatmeal can clog pipes?

I was thinking of adding tea tree oil to my oatmeal cleanser but would I still get the effects of the tea tree oil since oatmeal absorbs oils?
