So I talked to my dad about my accutane health stuff today and it went well. He listened and tried to wrap his head around everything. He doesn't understand why I have all these symptoms but when I get a blood test everything is fine. He also doesnt agree with my complete distrust of the medical bussiness (I will call it bussiness now). He says it's too extreme. He had me look up some accutane law suit stuff, I called one of the places and talked to a very nice lady. She was sympathetic and understood my situation. The feeling of someone agreeing or even acknowledging what I'm going through was unreal... I can't even put into words my emotions
I told her my symptoms and how my doctors don't listen/don't think it's accutane related and she said that happenes often. She recommended getting a colonoscopy to see if I have crohns or another ibd.
I would hate to have to do that but I will if nessecary.
I told my dad about Dr. Snow and he felt uneasy about how the whole thing with him works(so do I). Everything Dr. Snow says makes sense tho... I was on antibiotics for years before accutane. I feel like it has to be digestion related.
I don't think it stays in your system forever... I think it does for maybe a couple years or until you sweat it out. I think by then there has been significant damage done to your body and your body isn't able to repair itself.
I can't seem to find your specific posts, but who is Dr.Snow? I'm more than willing to bet that as far as information, you can get all of it from the nutrition section. It sounds like from what you're describing he's going for a sort of intestinal permeability/gut repair/brain-gut connection thing? What's your diet and lifestyle like? How's sleep, stress, social interaction, sunlight, exercise, and things of that sort? Do you practice some sort of heightened self awareness techniques, positive thinking, meditation, or anything like that? Journaling?
I only went on tane for about a month, things didn't go so well for about 4 months after. A lot of it, and let me know if I'm jumping the gun, is the beating up of oneself for a choice that may have heavily changed the way you have to live. However, once you can come to terms with it, and believe in the good amount of data and science as well as mechanistic underpinnings to disease that we have a decent enough understanding of when it comes to implementing the most depth and breadth when it comes to treating these issues, putting your best mindset forward, things will slowly, but surely improve. You find a new normal. I had to get used to drinking more water than I formerly did, tinnitus, and the now long gone side effects of body pain, depression, anxiety, migraines, and even pseudotumorcerebri, one of the more serious side effects for which I was pulled. Pretty much anything health related has a mental component, so the best thing you can do right now is working towards a positive mindset - one that believes in beating this. And truly, believe that you can.
I believe diet does play a big role in overall health.
But if I'm supposed to only eat raw foods for the rest of my life have I been healed? I don't think going raw or doing something like that is for me. Not that I wouldn't go Raw or follow a healthy diet but I don't think it's the right corse of treatment...
Idk guys I dont think going raw or doing the candida diet is the answer. It may help but it won't get you back 100%
I've been getting stomach pains the last few days, in addition to my intestinal pain...
What do people know about candida over growth?
Are there any of our symptoms related to that?
Diet plays a huge role, yes! As do things like sleep, stress, exercise, socializing, relaxing, positive thinking, and a number of other things.
I can't seem to find much on Snow's protocol, but honestly imo the whole ALL raw food thing is a bit BS. Most foods are better digested when cooked, and you get better absorption of the nutritional content. Meats are best cooked rare to medium rare, and absorb better than overcooked and raw.
The thing is with things like Candida and a host of other (largely internet promoted) diseases is that they have a ton of overlapping symptoms with many diseases - how do you know which one is which? Is it a food intolerance? leaky gut? gut dysbiosis? A combination of things? The best thing you can do is a comprehensive regimen that addresses all of these things. Most naturopaths/doctors will put you on a similar regimen that has you basically doing a few things...
1. Avoid potential autoimmune foods (gluten, nightshades, dairy, seeds, legumes, nuts), as well as pro-inflammatory foods (rancid omega 6 PUFA vegetable oils, sugars [candida regimens pretty much cut out all sugars, as do many other regimens])
2. Nutrient dense diet of bioavailable nutrients & foods specifically for GI health, like fermented foods, aloe, bone broth, etc
3. Supplements such as Vitamin D3, and especially probiotics
4. Improve lifestyle habits like sleep, exercise, positive thinking, stress reduction, etc.
