My Regimen Log

During thiese 8 days, I used Clean & Clear Foaming Cleanser, Skin ID 2.5% BP -OR- 2.5% Proactiv BP, and then various moisturizers. It did help stop my breakouts, but it made my skin extremely dry and didn't necessarily clear my skin up. I followed the Regimen as directed.
So, when I received Dan's products, I was THRILLED! Today will be the 8th day on the Regimen, so I've been using BP for about 16 days. I use two pumps of cleanser, 1.5-2 pumps of BP, and 3 pumps of moisturizer with jojoba oil (not Dan's). My skin is EXTREMELY dry - it's honestly embarrassing. Despite the dryness, my skin has been clearing up. I mean I've had 2-5 breakouts in the past 8 days where I used to have 2-5 breakouts per day.
So, it IS working, but my skin is just too dry. I found a a jojoba "mask" on the message boards so I'm doing that as we speak. HOPEFULLY it will be better before I have to go to work. I work at a spa, so having dry skin is incredibly embarrassing.
I'm thinking about only doing BP during the day instead of day and night until my skin gets used to it. The dryness has only gotten worse, and I thought it'd be better by now so that's why I'm going to slow down. If, after this week, my skin's dryness factor goes down, I will do BP twice a day for one day and then once a day for 6 days and so on until my skin stops being so dry. The dryness has even been painful!
Well, this is my first post. I'm posting mainly so track my dryness factor along with my acne. My acne is clearing up - which is excellent. Wish me luck!!!!

Whoops sorry I just realized I could have replied to your post this way! Sorry, I haven't used a message board in years.
Also, how are do you like the AHA? I bought it and I've used it on my back and chest, but I'm not sure if I should use it on my face yet.... what do you think? Maybe when I work up to the full BP twice a day, 7 days a week?

It is possible to use jojoba oil before BP- so it isn't "completely wrong"- I have read other blogs where regimen users have done this and been successful. Obviously if you do run into problems, keep in mind it may be this but if no problems- continue it!
AHA is really great. But I have recently found I was using it way too often by using it every night. My skin had made great progress and then started looking quite red and irritated even though it wasn't breaking me out.
1) You should wait a month or longer to start using AHA.
2) Test AHA on your chin/ jawline for a couple of nights, expect stinging and if all is okay try using it once a week to begin for a few weeks. If you feel you have adapted quite well you can take this up to twice a week.
Don't start using it yet as your in your early days, expect your skin to get quite red, irritated and dry soon, which is all completely normal btw

Best of luck!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'm excited to start using the AHA on my face

I did take into consideration what both of you said, and I think I will begin to use the BP before the jojoba oil. I'm doing this because it makes more sense to only have one variable (switching the BP from twice a day to once a day) instead of two (that + putting the jojoba on before BP). If my skin starts to become unbearably dry again, I will know that it is from the BP before the jojoba and I will switch back.
So, as today being my 5th day using BP once/day, I have examined my face thoroughly. I haven't noticed any more breakouts or pimples from yesterday, so that's a good sign. The pimples I did have now came to a head, which doesn't bother me because one of them isn't very big and the other one, although big, isn't painful.
I also read somewhere on this site (I forgot where...) that wearing a liquid foundation makes your skin look matte-like and dewy. I'm so glad I read that - I couldn't figure out why my face looked like that! From now on I'll just use my powder and hopefully this will take care of that overly-oily look.
Also, I lied about my countdown. NOW it's two more days until I use the BP twice for one day!

I just noticed today is my 3rd week (21 days) on the Regimen, or my own version of it. I've been sticking to it!
I also thought I'd put my new regimen on here since I've edited it quit a bit since I started
THIS UPCOMING WEEK (5/10/11 - 5/16/11):
Morning (usually out of the shower):
Wash with 2 pumps of Dan's cleanser, wait 5-10 minutes
Apply 1 pump Dan's BP to face (but not neck anymore because my neck is still very dry), wait ~15 minutes
Apply jojoba oil (I do not use Dan's jojoba), immediately apply 1.5-2 pumps of Dan's moisturizer, wait ~20 minutes
Apply makeup
Evening Moisturizing Days (This upcoming week it'll be five days/week):
Wash with 2 pumps of Dan's cleanser, wait 5 minutes
Apply layer of jojoba oil, then immediately (or wait a few minutes) apply Dan's moisturizer
Evening BP Days (2 days for this upcoming week):
Wash with 2 pumps of Dan's cleanser, wait 5 minutes
Apply 1 pump of Dan's BP, wait 15 minutes
Apply layer of jojoba oil, then immediately (or wait a few minutes) apply Dan's moisturizer
Also, when necessary, I will use a jojoba "mask":
In the morning before washing my face, I apply a great deal of jojoba oil to my skin and massage. I use more of a forceful touch to remove as many flakes as I can. I do this for about 5 minutes, give or take. I then let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wash it off, either in the shower or in my sink. So far I believe it's the main factor for getting rid of my flakes so fast! Reducing the BP to once/day helped as well.
(I'm sorry I forgot which post I found this from!!!)
Also, I decided to take some pictures to log my journey as well! Here is my first set of photos, taken tonight after I did my regimen (so my face is pretty oily

(Since these do not seem to be working I have also uploaded them as attachments to this post)
If anyone has any input for me on gradually working up the amount of BP I use/times per day I use it, that'd be great. Next week should I do BP twice/day two consecutive days or two days spread apart? Or instead of increasing to twice/day should I just increase the BP amount and keep it at once per day? Thanks in advance!

My skin does feel much dryer because of the BP twice/day yesterday, but hopefully tonight when I only put on the moisturizer/jojoba it will calm down.
I'm thinking about not putting on the jojoba in the morning. My skin gets so oily-looking and it takes me forever to be able to put on makeup and even after I do, it still looks really gross/oily. So I'll just use the moisturizer in the morning for a little bit and see if it makes my skin any dryer.
Update: I just used the moisturizer after the BP this morning without any added jojoba oil. I'm just waiting for it to finish absorbing into my skin and then I'll put makeup on and I'll let you know how it goes later!

Your skin isn't that bad AT ALL. I know everyone has their own interpretation of how they would like things to be but I REALLY think you will clear up really well with DKR and very quick at that!
Best of luck!!!!

Thanks for the feedback!
I'll just build up to the two/per day and I'm sure after that I'll be golden
Thank you very much for reassuring me!!! I really needed it right about now.

I made a serious conscious effort to not touch my face as much and I think I did a really good job. During my final (my FINAL final!) I kept reminding myself not to touch my face. It worked!
My skin is a lot dryer than it was the past few days, but that is because I used BP twice yesterday for the first time in almost week. I am especially noticing the dryness on my forehead.
I did not use jojoba oil this morning, just moisturizer. I LOVED the results - my makeup went on so much smoother and I did not look incredibly oily all day. It was perfect. I'll just use extra moisturizer tonight and it should be all good!
I'm thinking about posting pictures every week or so. I'll notice the progress better this way.
I'm really liking this log thing, it's making me feel accountable!

Today I will be using BP twice/day and then on Monday night I will use BP twice/day. I think spreading it apart this week will be best so that my skin can get used to the BP while also still not becoming extremely dry.
I noticed that not adding jojoba oil in the morning makes my skin pretty dry - but it's definitely worth it because I wasn't able to apply makeup with out being extremely oily!
Hopefully it all works out!!!

I've noticed a HUGE difference between Dan's Regimen and and other products that I've used (and I've used A TON of them, like ProActiv, skinID, Clarins, Clinique, Max Clear or whatever it's called, and others that I can't remember. I've also been to countless dermatologists who have performed peels and injections and nitrogen and who knows what else). I mean I've had blackheads since I was in elementary school and I've been suffering from acne from fifth grade on. Others have helped tame my acne, but the regimen really is making it go away (knock on wood).
Basically, I'm excited because I haven't had a huge breakout in about two weeks and the pimples that I've had for what seems like years are diminishing (again, knock on wood!).
I've also been using the jojoba oil for other purposes - I had the keratin treatment twice and each time it caused some dandruff that seemed to never go away. But I used the jojoba oil in my shampoo and it is going away! Magical stuff.
So I know my skin will be dry tomorrow but I really like what the regimen is doing to my skin so I'm going to continue to work up to the BP twice/day every day.
My job asked me to get a facial from a potential employee to see how good of a job they perform (a practical) and at first I said yes but then I realized that I don't want to ruin a good thing. So I called a coworker and she agreed to get the facial instead. It was a HUGE sigh of relief. She understood and she said "I know, using a new skin care line is like being on a diet. You don't want to change anything because it might mess everything up." I'm glad she understood.
I used a sample of the La Roche-Posay sunscreen at CVS the other day because I'm looking for an spf that won't make me break out. I'm not sure if this pimple was coming on anyway, but I did get a pimple in the area that I put the sunscreen on. So I'm thinking about using a different kind. Does anyone have any good spfs?
Other than that pimple, I have two of those white pimples that form by my nose which doesn't really bother me because they go away so quickly. Yay!

Hey keep up the good work! I have had similar problems with acne, used a TON of products, and have just stated the regimen. I started up a bit too hard I think, with the full 2 pumps of BP 2x/day because I thought I could handle it... I'm on day 4 and my skin is definitely drying more than anticipated so I think I'm going to follow what you are doing with jojoba oil.
One question: how is your overall dryness? Personally, where I used to use other products my skin is now overly dry on the regimen, it's where I hadn't really used anything (my forehead and the ourside edge of my face/chin) where it feels/looks like I got sunburn
