I asked my derm about Fraxel and he said he has the "Affirm" laser resurfacing device. The non-ablative one. He said I should not expect major improvements on my acne scars very minimal improvements. The device is mainly used for skin tightening and reduces sagging thus makes the appearance of the scar smoother. However he claims that Affirm is much more effective than eMatrix and less effective than Fraxel.

I made an appointment on 30th of June to have my first Affirm treatment session.
Has anyone ever tried it before? I've been researching nonstop it seems as though it's not as effective and popular as the Fraxel laser. I was wondering, does the Affirm help remove PIH spots? Is it effective on shallow scars and pores? Does it help remove reddness/blemishes/PIH.
Which one do you think I should go for, eMatrix or Affirm?

I myself had 2 affirm in 2009. I now have skin that makes me look as though I'm in my 60's-70's. It caused lines, wrinkling, sagging, collagen loss (thinning skin), rolling, boxcar, hypertrophic/atrophic scars, stretch marks (on my face), necrosis, thermal cellular damage, damage down to the muscle and bone, nerve damage, etc, etc, etc, etc......
I have spent an enormous amount of money on acupuncture, massage therapy, vitamins, minerals, herbs, hyperbaric oxygen treatments and other to no avail.
In my personal opinion, if I were you, I would not go for any laser. These lasers are 1000x hotter than the sun and will leave behind serious damage.
I wish I would have had chemical peels and stuck with at home clay masks, natural exfoliators, toners, lotions, etc.
If you have acne and scars, go to a reliable derm and ask for Diclofenac. It will smooth your skin and clear up acne and most scars. Good luck.

It seems like you have had bad experiences with Affirm I'm really sorry to know this has happened to you sad.gif I'm 23 and I dunno if I'm too young for the procedure as far as I know Affirm is mostly used for treating anti-aging issues and can be used for treating acne scarring not eliminating them but improving and smoothing out. I have read very few negative reviews on Affirm most people seemed to be happy with their results. It's really confusing sad.gif I don't think I have saggy skin I just wanna treat scars and red spots and improve my skin texture. I also know for a fact that Affirm doesn't cause additional scarring and it's one of the safest and painless lasers out there...your post kinda discouraged me sad.gif oh god I'm so confused now..

Anyone else had Affirm and has something positive to say?
