Plus it's much more difficult to notice pimples left untouched!
If I see a white head, my thoughts are always, 'People will see that and associate a big white head with me being greasy and unclean'. Not true of course, but that's how I think. So I pop the hell out of it, even if it's hardly formed at all, which obviously makes it a million times worse, redder, painful, huge and swollen.
My biggest battle has always related to how my skin looks to others. Or rather, how I think it looks to others and how they would judge it. If it's right that, as you say, pimples don't stand out so much when they're left alone, perhaps I would look better overall, to myself and to others if I just left it. the fact that I barely know what they look like and what happens if you leave them alone proves that I have always popped the hell out of stuff far too early or even totally unnecessarily.
I really need to get a grip on that. It's just that the habit goes way back to a time when I didn't know any better, and even though I know better now, it does seem really hard to break.
