Hi, welcome to my alternative UK regimen.

This is a hybrid regimen based closely upon Dan's own, original regimen. It takes into account the most available/cost effective BP product in the UK and is designed to be completed once per day.

Let's begin with the products needed for this regimen. This regimen requires 4 key products, unlike Dan's 3. Because Panoxyl is so drying, this regimen is built to incorporate the use of Jojoba oil.

  1. A gentle cleanser/face wash. I use Clean & Clear exfoliating daily wash (it's very gentle, does not scrub and gives a good lather. It also gently exfoliates dead skin). You may use any product here that you wish, just make sure it's not overly drying and personally I'd look for one with a good lather.
  2. Panoxyl 2.5 Aquagel (I find OXY on the spot is far less drying, but damn expensive and also cream based) Panoxyl is a gel, so doesn't dry fast and spreads easily. It's available in most UK chemists such as Lloyds, Boots, Sainsbury's e.t.c.
  3. A non-comedogenic moisturiser. I use Simple Replenishing Moisturiser (available in most supermarkets, superdrug, boots e.t.c.), but anything's fine as long as it doesn't break you out. This is down to personal preference.
  4. 100% Jojoba oil. A great product that is non-comedogenic (doesn't break you out). I buy mine from ebay (about £4 for 100ml and will last me ages), although it's also available from shops such as The Body Shop (will be far more expensive though).

Now that I've looked at the products that you'll need for this regimen, let's begin with the steps.

  1. Before you go to bed, wash your face gently with your face wash/cleanser. (I usually get a good lather going between my hands). Pat your face gently with a towel, then allow your skin to dry for about 5-10 minutes. I use this time to brush my teeth.
  2. Apply the Panoxyl relatively generously (I use about 2-3 pea sized measures) *Note "pea", not petit-pois* Allow to dry.
  3. Sleep
  4. In the morning, gently wash your face (as suggested by Dan, I use the lather to shave with). Pat dry with a towel and wait for about 5-10 minutes (again, I brush my teeth here).
  5. Put about 5-6 drops of Jojoba oil in your hands, then add moisturiser and mix between your palms. Apply gently and evenly to your face. Allow to absorb/dry... and you're done.

The key to this regimen is that it doesn't interfere with your life too much. You can fit it around sleep without too much hassle.

Secondly, the Panoxyl and Jojoba oil complement one other. The Panoxyl is very drying and will likely make your skin go very dry and flaky. The Jojoba oil fights the dryness and flakiness and makes using the Panoxyl more than bearable.

Tips

  • Still apply the BP generously as Dan suggests, just do it once per day instead.
  • Make sure that you regularly wash your pillow slips, they were a major cause of whiteheads for me.
  • I strongly advise the use of Jojoba oil, it's great for use all over the body and is the by far the most effective product for dealing with dry/flaky skin.

I hope this alternative regimen works out for you. I've been using it for a while now and it's starting to show some top notch results. Good luck everyone, feel free to comment or offer alternatives to the products that I have listed. smile.gif

Hi smile.gif

Using this regimen for about a month, my skin has cleared up a lot. I still have a few bumps on my cheeks, but these are becoming much flatter and less red. I'm hoping these will be much clearer in about another months time.

When I'm clear, I imagine I'll just be left with some red marks. I may then purchase some of Dan's AHA+.

I also find that my pillow is the only real thing that makes me break out, so I try to clean my pillow slips every week and I haven't had any problems. I think the BP at night acts somewhat as a barrier between the skin and my pillow. Then I replenish my face with moisturiser and jojoba oil in the morning.

this is really good, panoxyl once a day is better as it doesn't make the skin so red and dry.

I found Panoxyl 2.5% made me extremely red every time I applied it, so I'd be particularly careful to start slowly if you want to try this smile.gif
