ive heard here that iodine (in the kelp) may give u pretty bug breakout before actually clearing u up, soo idk but maybe try to stick to it for now, also iodine is rly good for flushing out toxins, boosting up thyroid function and other stuff from what i know so it might be effects of that, but hey better look for iodine thread on holistic forum, there should be better tips and explanations than i can say
btw ive also bought some kelp tablets today with iodine 150 iu (or was it ui?) per tablet, started today & later will see how it goes, how much idione per tablet do u have?

Too much iodine is not good for acne skin and kelp has alot. Personally I avoid kelp and all foods high in iodine including dairy products, iodized salt and shellfish. We need some iodine in our diet and get plenty from breads and meats. Anything else is too much!

Hi. Thank for your posts and feedback. I have heard that Sea kelp and iodine can make you make out. I am only taking 1 tablet a day. I plan to stick with it. Fluid retention problems are soooo much better since I started taking them. I have recently started using a tea tree based face wash - my spots look much better and its only been 2 days!

I've done some reading on the subject. I watched a video Dan made on iodine as well, and he pretty much said that the research that does say iodine is bad for your skin is not very good research. On top of that, iodine used to be prescribed to treat acne. Lots of treatments result in initial breakouts, especially one's taken internally. I've read about iodine and how much we need it in our diets, and there's a bunch of stuff floating around the internet saying that there is very much a deficiency of it in Western countries. Sorry, I read this a while back, but I'm sure if you do a search on the subject you will find such articles on iodine deficiency.
Take this, the recommended dosage of iodine is 150ug per day...which is a very low number, and assumes that the only part of the body needing iodine is the thyroid, which is not true. Iodine used to be the cure all, and it is amazing stuff. Iodized sault was created because of the high instance of iodine deficiency, but even that doesn't give you enought iodine, especially when people are cutting back on sault for other reasons.
Important point: Iodine used to be used in bread, resulting in very good levels of iodine in the system, but now it has been replaced with bromine, which acts in the opposite of iodine, blocking it. Fluoridated water further blocks receptors for iodine.
In Japan, iodine intake is in the thousands of ug, btw.
Anyway, that said I have been taking sea kelp for the past 4 weeks, and my skin has actually gotten better. Before that I was breaking out like mad for about 3 months...everything I put on my skin that was good for me before was now breaking me out. At first I was taking 1 dose of iodine per day, and I've been having 2 doses for the past week and a half. I also take vitex to balance my hormones (which is my problem), as well as cod liver oil. Topically, I apply cod liver oil on my skin overnight, which I love.
So far I haven't broken out and my skin has improved, I think due to the combination of all these treatmens,as well as the fact that I think I'm finally done detoxing from the bc pill, my skin is continuing to improve. If I have a breakout that is out of the ordniary in the coming weeks, I will update.
