So i have deceided to try the regimen out and went out and bought some products without doing much research on them. Since I am based in the UK I didn't want to spend alot of money on Dan's products to start of with (but will be willing to after seeking some advice about them) so I have bought these items for boots:

Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Cream Wash

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser

Panoxyl 2.5%
(I know this is the 10% but I couldn't find the 2.5% on the website) I DO HAVE THE 2.5%.

I just wanted to hear what people thought of the products and if you think I should change any of them.

I have heard that panoxyl contains alot of alcohol, would this be the reason my skin has been burning after putting the moisturiser on?

I have a heard alot of good things about Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion and was thinking of purchasing it and the skin cleanser, what do you think?

I don't have much knowledge on acne treatment products so I could do with some advice if possible.

I basically want to know what other people in the UK have bought instore and online.

I have been considering buying Dan's products due to the positive comments about them. Has anyone from the UK purchased his products? If so was there a big shipping charge or goverment charge.? Are they worth getting?

Thanks

a lot of the following is from what I've read on here.

You may feeling a burning sensation when you first use BP. I did, but it subsided over 2 weeks of continuous usage. Dan's BP is very good, it took a few weeks for it to properly work for me, but was worth the wait. If you buy from him, only get one product at a time, because otherwise you'll import taxed. I only get the BP from him, other good cleansers and moisterisers can be found here in GB.

Cetaphil is meant to be very good, but don't just take other people's word for it. I've found different products that work for me, and thats the most important thing really, what works for you personally.

I use L'Oreal Men ExpertHydra Sensitive Foam wash, really gentle, avoids all the dodgy ingredients. I also use Nivea Visage Oil Free Moisturising Fluid, its non-comedogenic, light, pretty good. You can also get Jojoba oil over here too, not too expensive, really helps moisteriser go further, and necessary when using BP.

In google, type in "Become an acne detective", its a really good site that lists ingredients to avoid in your products when buying

Good luck!

When I first started the Acne.org regimen, I bought Dan's products (cleanser, BP, & moisturiser), as I wanted to make sure that I was using all the right stuff. After my acne had cleared, I thought I would try stuff that I could buy in the UK.

I now use Olay refreshing face wash gentle cleanser, and I haven't been using moisturiser at all, until a few days ago when I started using Olay 7 in 1 anti-ageing total effects day moisturiser. I bought both of these because they were labeled as non comedogenic.

I still use Dan's BP though.

If you order stuff from Acne.org, and it comes to more than £18, then you will have to pay 20% VAT when it enters the UK. The last time my order arrived, Royal Mail sent me a card, saying that I had to pick up the parcel from the sorting office, as there was a charge to pay. Royal Mail also add on their £8 fee!

So I've been thinking of just buying Dan's 8oz BP treatment and with the cheapest delivery it comes to $27.11 which I think is about £17. Would I not get charged if I bought this. Is it worth buying the bigger bottle and paying charges. £17 to me sounds like alot of money for BP compared with the price of Panoxyl, is there a big difference between the two. What do usually buy when ordering of Dan's store? Sorry for all the questions.

There's so many different cleanser's and moisturiser's people are using that it's hard to choose! haha

You shouldn't get charged if you only bought one of Dan's 8oz BP tubes @ $16.52. You only need to consider the price of the product, without shipping charges. So you could spend up to around $28 (assuming an exchange rate of 1.6) before you will pay VAT.

Having said that, I responded to a post by a member who said that they were charged VAT when ordering just 1 tube of 8oz BP. Unfortunately, the poster didn't respond to my reply, so we didn't get the exact breakdown of the charges.

To be honest, I couldn't be bothered to work out whether it would be cheaper to order all my products individually, or to get them all at the same time & pay VAT & RM handling fees. In the end I bought them all at once. My last order (1X16oz BP + 2X6oz AHA+) came to $64.25 (£40.16). So I paid £8.03 VAT + £8 RM international handling fee.

Just be careful on the Clean and Clear products, I know the Moisturiser has salicylic acid and a bunch of other ingredients which are a No No on the Regimen - I think the Cream Wash has that in too.

I use the Clean and Clear Truly Gentle Facial Wash.

Mind you, my face is awful at the moment so what do I know.

Up until about 2 years ago I used nothing but Dan's products as I thought I HAD to stick with everything right down to what razor he used. Slowly I started adding my own products by trial and error wit mixed results but got there in the end.

The shipping is one thing but the vat and duties costs that the shhipping company adds on just don't make it worth while imo. I had just had enough. An idea I had was for Dan to work some sort of thing out at international checkout which would put your actual order under £16 no matter what you ordered and bump the rest onto the shipping even if the shipping seemed crazy high but I'm not to sure ho this would work or ho leagal it would be to be honest smile.gif

One thing I have to say is everyone's skin is different. At the end of the day Dan's products are made especially for acne sufferers but first and foremost for Dan's skin imo... he's not gonna make a product that doesn't exactly do what he wants it to for him after all the research he puts into it. So what I'm saying is a store alternative might do it for you.

What is in my sig does it for me. The Quinoderm might be a bit much fot someone starting off but I gererally find it very moisturising to the point of I can go without a moisturiser. Its been a revelation for me ... I've been using it since may and love it even more so that I now get 3 50g tubes a month on the NHS:) Saying that I've been on the regimin 10+ years so a 5% cream might be a bit to strong to start with.

I think I my skin agrees with a cream more. thinking back to the days before Dan's BP when he recommended the Neutrogena cream (very costly days back then) I can vaguely remember my skin liking it. PanOxyl I personally thought was a nightmare... very very drying. I needed a heavy duty moisturiser which I don't like using as they're really usually shiny to the point of people think your wearing makeup (I'm a fella)

Some cleansers I've used lately are...

Kind To Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel

Olay Gentle Cleansers Refreshing Face

Now using Johnsons Baby Top To Toe Wash which you can get on offer like 3 for 2 at boots or superdrug and because they come in a 500ml bottle your good to go for ever. I used bar cleansers since the beginning and have only moved onto liquid cleansers lately and find them less drying. Some times I had to moisturise my nose which I hate as I believe in only moisturising where I apply BP (around my mouth) Cleansers I believe are not a biggy unless your using a really bad one as its basically on your shin for 10 seconds morning and night but some disagree. Just find one that agrees with you. I know some even contain SLS which is the devil in cosmedic terms (Purpose use it) but if it works go for it. Some say (Paulas Begoun) to totally avoid cleansing bars but they done me no harm for years. I had anyone going to the states to bring me back a years worth of basic bars smile.gif

Moisturisers imo you need to find one that suits you as it says in my sig I find them a big part of the regimen as they're gonna be on your face most of the time. I've used most and haven't really had any luck withe high st brands which is a shame as I wa tryign to move away from going online to buy products but the big US 3...

DML
Cereve
Complex 15

Can all be bought on ebay including shipping for around a tenner and at 240ml (Complex 15) is a good deal and you'll not be buying them that often. A bottle lasts me forever, I use very little. I tried Cetaphil for a few months just a while back and it was very very heavy to the point my face looked and felt really greasy but some people swear by it. I find DML moisturises just as well and doesn't leave half the shine or feel that the Cetaphil did and the size of the bottle will scare you wink.gif

Anyway have a look at the review section on here and also the review section over at drugstore.com is very helpful. Most stuff on there can be had on ebay if you need them. I wouldn't use ebay for US products like cleansers which you go through a bit to much which could become costly but for moisturisers... the big US bottles are good value on ebay and personnally I don't think and UK brand touches them for effectiveness

Anyway that's my take on things. Hope things work out for you
