Hi guys

Havent posted here before but have joined in the hope that i could find some positivity in coming off dianette.

Have been on Dianette for the past 10years and this is my 3rd attempt at coming off as am now 30 and dont really want to be on birth control for the whole of my life!! My previous 2 attempts last 6 months before I couldnt cope with the flare up and went back on it. This time i've lasted 8 months and my skin is now worse than it has been for years whistling.gif( and strangly its only around the jaw line and neck at the moment.

Over the years i've used BP to death to the point where it now no longer works, topical erythromycin, roaccutane, doxycycline, topical retonoids and they all work for a short period of time but over the years dianette has been the only thing thats kept my skin clear. My gp this time tried to switch my pill to yasmin before hand but that doesnt seem to have helped either.

Am at my wits end now and just feel like relenting again and going back on the pill. Have now been on lymcycline for the past couple of weeks and using isotretoin gel and hoping to see some sort of improvement before i just give in again sad.gif

Hi,

I don't have much advice really, but I was wondering if you have ever had any tests done regarding your acne? I am in a similiar position to you, the only thing that has ever kept me clear long-term(including Accutane) is Dianette. I only break out badly on my neck, jawline and chin, which I know is a textbook symptom of hormonal acne. I sometimes wonder if I have an underlying hormonal problem like PCOS, although I don't really have any of the other symptoms...so I'm worried I will sound like a hypochondriac if I go to my doctor demanding tests!

Have you ever tried Yasmin? I just got prescribed it today and even though there are plenty of horror stories online (same with any medication I guess), there are plenty of very positive ones too so I'm feeling hopeful. I don't want to go on Dianette ever again because even though I know it works, it's not safe to stay on it long-term and I will never, ever forget what happened to my skin when I came off!

What is Isotretoin gel? Liquid accutane?! I have never heard of that in the UK.
