Hi,

I took zinc supplements intially 100mg per day and then 50 mg perday. I stayed clear for more than 3-4 months.
But then zits started coming back. What could be the reason? I have stopped taking any supplements now.

I don't have an answer, just a similar experience.

I took Opti-Zinc (Two 30mg pills daily) and it cleared up my acne in just a few days. But it slowly came back. I would reccommend you keep taking atleast one zinc pill a day though. It seems to help with acne in general even if it doesn't completely clear you up.

I've taken it for over a year now and it has really helped my immune system and my acne which is a good enough reason for me.

Thanx for replying. I would keep that in mind. And start taking my zinc supplement again.
Also, is it ok to take zinc sulphate in long term coz i can't find any other form of zinc around me.

Regarding the zinc supplement, should it contain copper?I'm already taking a multivitamin daily. I'm getting different answers.
thanks

I dnt think you should combine copper and zinc...
Zinc should be taken alone or it will react with copper and will not have effect on acne.

As far as I know, 30mg of Opti Zinc has 300mcg of Copper (as Amino Acid Chelate) in it anyway so I guess that would be a safe level. Everything I've read about this sort of dosage suggests it gives good results and it's not a stupidly high amount of zinc either.

Recently started taking D3 and Pantothenic Acid. Also taking something which contains Burdock Root, Blue Flag Root and Sarsaparilla. Results are really good so far, everything's clearing up. The few spots I've had have been so tiny and gone within a couple of days.

Happy enough for the time being. Was wondering if adding Zinc might improve things further. eusa_think.gif

Taking zinc for extensive amounts of time depletes your body's cooper content so it is very important to take a cooper supplement with zinc! B5 is an amazing supplement, it worked wonders for me....I liken it to accutane. How much B5 do you take daily? It is an annoying road to go, I use to take 30-40 pills a day between B5, zinc and A & E but the results were remarkable so keep up knowing your skin will be beautiful smile.gif

Been taking 500mg each day for a few weeks. Just followed the dosage on the bottle really. For all I know, might not do any harm to take more but I don't think there's any great need if what I'm doing right now. Between that and the vitamins etc, I'm only taking about 5 pills a day so it's really easy. Just keep going I guess and hope my skin stays this way. smile.gif

Never taken B5 alone, bt have taken B complex tablets..
Also used to take Vit E & C. It made a difference.
But now nothing seems to be working.

There was one more reason, I stopped taking vit E. My blood became thinner.
This is what my doctor told me. He said vit E can have this effect on your blood. Is it true??

I have started taking zinc & neem tablets again but not taking any other vitamin.
It feels like m loading my stomach with lots of supplement. Bad Feeling.

Now fingers crossed, if this combination cud work on my skin.

Yes. I've read posts on here from people taking maybe 4 pills per day. I've also read posts from people taking 20 pills per day. All I know is, 500mg (with the odd day when I happen to have taken 1000mg) seems to be helping a lot.

Before I started taking the things I mentioned in my other post, my skin was broken out all the time. Having finally cleared the breakout which seemed to last about a month and got worse and worse, I've hardly had a single pimple for two weeks and that hasn't happened for years.

I don't think my stomach could handle this much high dose of B5. Iam afraid.
Also My hair are already thining so B5 as a side effect might give me more hair fall problem. Which I don't want in any case. I have heard B5 can give you hair fall problem (correct me if m wrong)
I am still sticking up with zinc for some more time. I am expecting the miracle it did to my skin 2 months back.
I guess my acne is little under control (touch wood) due to zinc, again, as m regular on it from few days
Will post the result in few dayz.
Thank you for listening. smile.gif

Now I have been taking the zinc tablets from a month, I am okay. I have two big pimples.. on my left cheek, but I feel I am relatively clear. So I am gonna stick to zinc tabs for some more time. Also the scarring is little under control with the help of my night cream so my skin looks better. I am happy smile.gif
