I don't think this post is bogus - I am experiencing scarring from chemical peel - enlarged pores and orange peel texture Please need advice and help. I can only imagine the damage a laser can do in the wrong inexperienced hands. I had four peel the last one ruined my skin it has been eight weeks and no improvemnet - anyone wexpereince orange peel skin - what can helpo. Good luck with healing your skin after a laser - I have chatted with others who had negative experiences from lasers and some it took up to two years for their skin to heal.

Oh ok. Just thought I'd ask because it involves someone to use a machine to shed the top layer of your skin.

i agree with the OP.

if you dont, that is fine, but dont come here to bash on the person. its not here came here and said that you are totally stupid for getting lasers. he is trying to help you and consider what is best by weighing out all of your options and their possible consequences. so it's not helpful to come here and totally put down the person who is most likely here telling the truth. bc why would a person come onto these boards to put down a product, most people promote a product. its the same with people and their experiences with accutane. respect people on the internet, they arent insensitive robots.

I think one who had IPL must protect his/her skin from sun everyday of the year (no matter winter or summer) for a very long time . also you should take good care of your skin. you should exercise enough, eat healthy. never smoke and whatsover. I mean you have a newborn skin after a good IPL procedure and think about a baby going under sun without protection. think about a baby smoking. otherwise you get bad results after a while. I think that's completely normal.

Once the dermis is destroyed or altered, it does not, and can not regenerate. Anyone considering ipl should go to doctors that speclialize in burns before making a trip to the medisap or physician for treatments with laser. An alteration to the dermis through heat will cause 2nd and 3rd degree burns. You're epidermis may not scar or look charred, but the epidermis retains heat that feels like a strong sunburn, this heat is altering dermis tissue. Is it really worth the risk? Wish I knew then what I know now. I wouldn't let my worst enemy go in front of an ipl. Scarring in this region will develop from one to two years, and can continue because the dermis has been altered. I wish I could tell people not to do this, it's not worth the chance, but ultimately the decision is theirs.

i have been getting ipl's done for 6 years now and my skin is so much better after having them done. i think it all depends on where you go but you should always do your research first and ipl is not a laser.

Wow~

I wish I read something like this before I had my lasers.

It's been a nightmare since I had Blu-U with Levulan or what they call PDT treatment. I have spoken to the maker of PDT and when I told him about the side affects that I am experiencing this was his response. "This is a cancer treatment, we rarely use this for acne." Yet I am seeing advertisement for acne treatment always.

I have no doubt that a lot of the damages I have is related to my doctor's lack of experience and knowledge. I went to a Medical Spa ( thinking he was a dermatologist) and trusted him with my skin. Now I have sever burn scars all over my face that's pretty much irreversible. I was never warned of this before treatment, but was told it would give me fast results and other stuff are bad. He really over exposed me though, but even if he didn't I wonder if I would have not had damages that were not noticed at the time.

It's been years and I am suffering from Major Sun sensitivity ( Scars are more less resistant to sunlight) scaring, aging, pores, you name it I have it.

So I did call a lawyer and in the contingincee for that I signed it says People that are likely to develop Keloid scaring are not suppose to be doing this treatment. Very generic Save their asses from law kind of a statement. I personally had no clue what Keloid scar was. Apparently it's like this worst form of scaring possible.

I am highly against lasers. I personally just had acne around the chin. Now I have bumpiness all over my whole face that's scars that makes me look as if I am breaking out in the whole face when I am not. I to this day have trouble driving during the day due to sun sensitivity. I would do anything to return the time that I did laser treatment. And I wish I knew of all these possible side affect that FDA Obviously has no interest regulating for whatever reason.

If doctors are having to make you sign contingincy forms before doing treatment, I am sure it's pretty dangerous. Maybe some people are getting positive results, but after doing extensive research on skin and lasers, I really don't think it should be something you should be doing unless it's absolutely a life threatening situation.

Personally, I have not seen any dermatologist doing laser on themselves. Do I need to say more? I am very grateful to the poster and I read something of this sort before I made my decision because I have burn scars that are irreversible. Something I have to live with everyday for the rest of my life. About sun sensitivity, I am just not sure how I am going to be able to live avoiding daylight for the rest of my life.
