Well my name is Jack, and i am chinese. I start to have acne back in 6th grade, which my mom said it was okay so we didn't do much to it back then. Until 9th grade i started to have really bad break outs and i went to see the doctor and all the doctor gave me was antibiotic pills and BP. After a few time... and i do mean like once or twice.. the BP kinda burn my face so i stop using it... and now after reading posts from this forum.. i start to give it another shot.

History:
i had a facialist to pop a lot of my acne.. which left some scars... now i'm using Vitamin E oil to fix up the acne scars and i gotta say.. its working very well... from the beginning when i first brought the product.. and now i have only used it 2 or 3 times.. because i started to breakout in other areas so i stopped. After those 2 or 3 times.. i can see my scars has gotten a lot lighter and better.

3/14/11
  • Woke up at 2:30
  • Clean my face with Proactive step 1 cleanser
  • Apply ice to each spot with Cystic Acne ( Alone the jaw lines )
  • After 15 minutes, i apply Clindamycin/Benz Per 1/5% Gel
  • Burning, irritation, itches.. everything happen... turn into a red apple face....
  • Then 5 minutes.. some of my Clindamycin is left on my skins.. giving a white looking spot.. then apply Clean and clear Dual moisturizer. BOOM... irritation occur again.. hurts alot..
  • Half an hour... Alone the jaw lines.. the cystic are still a itchy.. and my forehead.. is read.. my entire face is still red...

Anything i should do? Or help with the irritations?
I'm going to post here everyday for 3 months (; and see it will go.
Please help out and leave a comment

hey gordon, welcome to the site! i've been on the DKR for about 3 months now and here are a few tips..

the BP will make your face super dry, so i suggest getting a very very mild and hydrating NON-COMEDOGENIC (this is very important for all of the products you use, it has to be on the label) cleanser such as Cetaphil (this one has worked the best for me) and not the pro-activ cleanser you are currently using. also, when you cleanse your face, be extremely gentle. another thing i noticed you said was you "rub" in your BP.. dont! gently glide it over your face and let it soak in and dry on its own (that is why you wait 15 minutes before applying your moisturizer) .. apply the BP to all of the affected areas of your face, not just your jawline. start with just a little! my face was red as a lobster when i started but it only lasts a couple of weeks, dont use too much!! (that was my biggest mistake.. i had to stop and start all over again because i was way too irritated) .. expect your face to get itchy, and burn a little bit when you first start off. but if it still stings and burns after 1-2 weeks, it means youre using too much BP, so you'll have to adjust that according to your skin's reaction to the bp (everyones different). again, make sure the moisturizer you are using is non-comedogenic and extremely hydrating as your skin will get very dry and flaky (literally flakes of dead skin peeling off your face for about 2 weeks to a month.. its normal! its just your skin adjusting.. but again, if this gets too intense or wont go away, lower your amount of bp because irritated skin means acne!)

good luck and keep us posted! i had so many cysts and pustules when i started, and now i have about 4 active pimples on my face and the rest is just scars smile.gif this stuff works, but you have to be veeerrrryyy dedicated to it (follow the regimen religiously! dont skip applications) and you will get amazing results, promise smile.gif

oops, i forgot to mention, buy Dan's BP! honestly, it is soo worth it, better then any BP out there and it is very cheap compared to what you can buy at the pharmacy. and if you're going to stick with this regimen for 3+ months, you will need A LOT. if you don't buy his BP, make sure the one you are using doesn't have alcohol in it (such as PanOxyl) because that'll burn your face.

  • God it was horrible today.. the cystic on my nose grew.. and the ones around my jawline seems to be drying out and dying (:
  • Still doing the same thing using Proactive, Proactive Repair lotion, Aveeno lotion for moisturizer
  • Acne are actually clearing a bit up.. i actually like it.
  • I think i got a few pimples coming up.. but i'm still learning to adjust that BP's side effect feelings..
  • It still burns..
  • I'm doing this regimen day and night (:

@Accushame, thanks for you advice and encouragement. Right now i think i'll be fine with these equipments that i have, but i'm willing to go for Dan's treatments as well. Personally right now i'm going to try if i could find something just around the store, because my acne are getting a lot better and i'm making progress. I'm going to buy Cetaphil cleanser, if i can find it at Target or something. THen i'll buy the lotion also.

Thanks for your encourage Accushame.. i was thinking about quitting when no post anything on my Diary here. Your story is very inspiring and you just gave me the strength to keep on moving no matter what. THank you.

no problem! even though people aren't posting it doesn't mean they're not reading your story smile.gif
i just wanted to mention one thing.. you are using A LOT of drying products (such as the cleanser and the repairing lotion) as well as the BP. be careful, because dryness = irritation and irritation = acne! your best bet is to keep it plain and simple. its a good idea to switch cleansers, and to stop the repairing lotion smile.gif but hey, if it's working for you and not irritating your skin, then who am i to judge right? but i'm only saying this because you're still mentioning that your skin is red and burning.. not a good sign! keep posting pics of your progress so we can all help you out more and, most importantly, encourage you!

another thing.. you said you were gonna buy the BP from the pharmacy as your acne is getting better.. well, the DKR is something you have to stick to for it to keep working. your acne is getting better because you are doing the DKR (well, your altered version of it) twice a day. AS SOON as you stop using the BP, chances are your cystic acne will come back (this is why you'll notice little pimples or a breakout if you skip too many applications).. therefore, your best bet would be to order a tube of Dan's BP off the internet (less then 20 bucks) and it will last you at least a couple of months. but if you buy it at the pharmacy, you'll get a tiny little tube (of much lower quality BP) for like 15-20$ that will only last you less then a month. so if you're money concious, i'd say definitely buy the BP right away!

keep us updated smile.gif
ps: is your skin dry, or just red and burning?

Morning -
  • Did my own personal regimen as usual...
  • Then i noticed that for the past few day... everyday i woke up the cystic acne around my jawline.. is extremely.. flakey.. like the skin is comming off and everything.. but it dries the cystic acne up and the acne itself is going down.
  • I think its because i don't use mois. enough... should i apply more?
  • OMG.. a cystic pimple on the top of my nose... eh.. nasty..
  • Notice a few pimple coming out.. nothing much serious..

Night -
  • Well i kinda stayed up for the entire week because its spring break...
  • So yeah i kinda forgot to do the regime... teehee...
  • Overall nothing much to report.. except some small acne around and those nasty acne around the jawline are dying

Problems -
  • Whenever i apply the Proactive repair lotions.. it still burns.. but only for about 5 mintues..
  • My skin around the jawline is flakey..
  • Another thing that is bothering me is that my face feels like i just apply Aloe cream on to it.. its so unstretchable and tight..

@Accushame, actually the Repairing lotion itself is BP, on the ingredients list.. all it has 2.5% BP SO yeah. it works
Also i was wondering why do i have to switch cleanser?
I'll order it as possible, after i talk to my dad tonight..

Also i'm on Antibiotic, and i take some fish oil a day.. the 1200MG kind.. and i also have a Tretonian cream that my doctor prescribe me.. so i was wondering what are your opinions on that?
Basically my skin is DRY! and the redness and burn only occur when i apply the BP on my face and sometimes the lotions

oooh okay, i didnt know the lotion was the actual BP, but yeah i know what you mean it's like Step 3 or something right?

which antibiotic are u on? i just started Doxycyline and it's working for me
i advised to switch the cleanser because the Proactiv cleanser has stuff in it, so it'll dry your face out (making the flakiness around ur jawline a lot worse) .. if u use mild cleanser (such as Cetaphil) along with your bp and moisturizer, the redness should subside within 2 weeks or so. and the flakiness is not because you're not using enough moisturizer (but the more the better! use a lot of it) it just has to do with your skin adjusting to the BP. it should go away within a month, if it doesn't then it means you're using too much BP.

Yea its called Step 3

I know if the Antibiotic works or not.. its weird.. i don't know how to describe it though. Its called the ERY-TAB 250MG whatever that is.. do you know what it is?

Oh yeah, i just brought Acne free today. Should i use that Cleanser or should i got out there and buy some sensitive skin cleanser? And about Dan's treatments.. do i have to buy the full set or can i just buy the individual parts?

ery-tab is Erythromycin, I've never been on it (only Doxycyclin) but other people on here have, you can check out the "Antibiotic logs" if you want, to see how other people have reacted to it.

I wouldnt use Acne free but idk what's in it, maybe you can clue me in? But usually, anything that has "active ingredients" such as salycilic acid or BP will dry out your face.. Also, i'm not sure if it's non comedogenic, does it say on the label? Ironically, most acne products you find at the pharmacy are comedogenic! therefore will agravate your skin unless you are not prone to clogged pores (you are). i still say get a nice, simple NON-COMEDOGENIC face wash.

& you can definatly just buy the BP, there are diff sizes.

Oh my god! Today was horrible.. some of those Nodules or Cystic poped.. and bleed a lot...
Few more break out... and thats pretty much it...

@Accushame
Well they did sent me a book that teaches me about Non-Comedogenic so i'm sure they aren't.

And as for the Acne free cleanser, the ingredient are:

Active ingredients - 2.5% BP
Inactive Ingredients - Water(aqua) , Aloe Barbadensis(Organic Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice Disodium Laureth Sulfosuucinate, Sodium (14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Steanic Acid, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Triethanolamine, Glycerin, Cetyl Alchohol, Tridecyl Trimelliate, Tridecyl Sterate, Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids, Persea Gratissima (avocado) Oil unsaponifiables, Neopentyl Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract,( 12-15 Allkyl Benzoate, Butylenne Glycol, Carbomer, Cetl Esters, Phenoxyethanol, Ethlhexylglcerin, {olyethylene, Sorbitol, Willow Bark Extract, Melaleuca Altemifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf oil, Xanthan Gum, etrasodium EDTA, Methlisothiazolinone

Thats a lot... i don't understand any of them besides AQUA haha

yeah, i would suggest switching cleansers bc there is BP in it.. you don't need it since you are already applying BP to your entire face. also, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the cleanser an exfoliating cleanser? (like tiny beads in it, kind of a "scrub") if so, then you should REALLY switch it.. bc that'll irritate your face like crazy if you're using it twice a day.

as for the ingredients, theyre not all non-comedogenic, so beware. also! the reparing lotion for AcneFree (idk if you're using it?) has 3.7% BP, and you shoudl never use anything besides 2.5%.

Alright i'll switch to another cleanser... but it doesn't have the tiny beads in it though....
It does... and i hated it... I'll buy another cleanser tonight...

Thanks i'll make sure to remember that.

Do you have a fast and natural or anything that killed cystic acne around my jawline fast?

Hey there,
Don't be discouraged if people don't post - many people read and track your progess.

I agree with Accushame... please keep it simple. I would def. suggest using very mild cleanser that cleans but restores the moisture in your face; Dan's BP; then extremely hydrating lotion. Don't use any other topical medicine thing before or after BP because it would be an overload on your face. As much as Acne is a nuisance, it is your body so treat it with care and sensitively. Try to drink lots of water often and eat a lot of greens/ fruits - this helps with the healing process.

Use beady exfoliant only when your acne's gone, or else you'll irritate it physically and spread it. Otherwise use an AHA base mask to gently exfoliate your skin.

best of luck!!!

unfortunately, there is no "fast and easy" way to get rid of the cysts.. what i like to do (and i find it works, for me) is after applying the BP, go back and spot treat any pimple/cyst you have on your face. put a little glob of BP on them (don't rub it in, barely touch the cyst!) and wait for it to dry (about an hour). Then apply your moisturizer. It should dry the pimple/cyst and make it go away within a week tops. Try it out and let me know smile.gif

Notice some more acne around the Jawline for some reasons... feeling itchy like usual and skin is becoming a drying city....

The cystic acne around my nose poped... and i just applied some BP and covered with a bandage And it doesn't seems like its going to be gone soon.....

Same routine.. just no Moisturizer. I wanna see how it will work...
