week 4 update:

it's been exactly 4 weeks on this diet and i'm feeling extremely, extremely depressed.

things were AWESOME last weekend at the 3 week mark, but this week was a downward spiral and i have about 5 spots on my chin area and two on my cheeks. there are a few possible triggers that i think it might be:

eggs
carrots (hadn't eaten these in months and had a small amount yesterday in a salad)
too much fat? since i eat a lot of coconut oil, coconut butter and avocado
pumpkin - i've been eating this for breakfast but maybe i shouldn't.. sigh.

basically my skin doesn't look much better at all after a month of this diet so i'm feeling extremely discouraged. of course i want to see it through and see if improvement happens, but i have this deep down feeling that no matter what i eat, i will still have acne so i shouldn't even bother with all this restriction.

i don't want to leave my house. i want to cry.

Don't feel discouraged! It took me over 6 months to get clearer skin and if you eat one of your triggers (eggs carrots etc for me) then it can break you out with in a day. The pumpkin isnt allowed on the strict candida diet so that could be holding you back. Maybe only eat it once a week for a treat. You are doing great! A month i a lot of progress.. Time wil fly by and you will have clear skin before you know it smile.gif

I have been to the pool in the past 2 days and my skin is normal enough to where people dont look at me like im a monster.. Good luck ! You can do it..

Other triggers for me (maybe for you too ) are
carrots
eggs
coffee
raw garlic
a lot of red meat in one sitting
asperagus

i hope you're right biologygirly. thanks for the encouragement. i ate asparagus on thursday for the first time on the diet so that could have been a trigger too. 6 months is such a long time to eat this way! ah i hope i can do it.

after spending a lot of time on the "healing naturally by bee" website today, i've decided to get more serious with this. my current break out is form carrots, beets and chickpeas, so i'm realizing how sensitive i really am.

so, no more:
pumpkin
carob
coconut butter

these three things have pretty much been saving me these past 4 weeks so i'm really sad to see them go, but they might be contributing to breakouts.

the cheat food i am still going to eat are mary's gone crackers because i have not had an negative effects from these. honestly, right now i have no idea what i AM going to eat. yikes.

I eat ground turkey w/ mixed veggies, cornish game hens, chicken breast (all smothered in coconut oil and sea salt), organic hotdogs (the ones w/o sugar etc), red meat sometimes, canned tuna (w/o vegtable broth etc), most veggies (besides asperagus and carrots), lots of avacados, spinach, salmon... once a week i mix ghee (clarified butter) coconut oil and 1 tbl spoon of alomd butter and then i freeze it.. it's almost like ice cream! first u put the ghee and coconut oil in a pot and heat themup.. then u pour them over the almond butter and mix.. then stash in freezer. iv had it the bas 3 days because im on my menstrual cycle but it's totally worth it to cheat when i have that!

i've been cooking vegetables with garlic every night - haven't taken it straight though! i've eaten cooked onion a few times as well, but i'm not a big fan so i haven't included much of it. i think that depression and the diet are probably related somehow, though what it feels like to me is that my skin is the main cause of depression for me. i'll feel good in the morning when i wake up until i look in the mirror and then suddenly i feel worthless. it's super in texas where i live, like 95 degrees, so i'm also craving fruit so badly. when i feel depressed i turn to sugary foods (healthy ones, but still sugary ones) so not being able to do that is making it all the more difficult. i don't have anything bad happening in my life other than my skin. i should consider myself lucky but i can't even appreciate the things that i have i don't want to leave the house!

what i know is that cooking garlic/onion is like killing their properties, they loose lots of important enzymes and other things, well im not sure, but fresh is better from what i know. about mirror, i totally can relate .__. so its probz good idea to try to avoid it for some good time & dont let stress over that picture interrupt with healing process, but its harder to do than say ofc >_>
good luckz!

4.5 weeks on the anti-candida diet

and my skin still sucks sad.gif

i've lost weight, so there's that.

i have an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow and am considering going on spironolactone. this diet has really broken me down and made me think about just how profoundly acne is impacting me. i think about my skin way too often, avoid social situations, cry myself to sleep, obsess about my appearance, apply makeup like it's going to save my life... it's just too much. i've stopped living my life, i really have. i wanted to battle this in a natural, holistic way but i think i'm giving up on that. i know that spiro might cause tumors in rats, but honestly if it fixes my skin i don't even care. i know that's crazy, but that's how i feel.

anyway, i'm not giving up on this diet. to be honest i like the fact that i'm not addicted to sugar anymore. i am going on vacation starting saturday for a week and will stick to this diet.

hi y'all...

i'm crossing over the the dark side.

as i mentioned before, i went to the dermatologist today and wanted to get spira. however, he is not a fan and instead highly recommended isotretinoin. since my acne is "mild" (as he described it- i beg to differ!) we are doing a low dose and "pulsing" -- so i'm doing one week this month, then off for 21 days, then another week, another 21 days off, etc.

i got a really good feeling from this doctor - he was super knowledgeable, made me comfortable, etc. i was able to express to him that i am incredibly depressed and need HELP. so this is what we're doing.

i'm terrified. really, really terrified. i am kind of a "hippy" - i refuse to take antibiotics when doctors prescribe them, only eat organic foods, etc. so i feel like a total freaking hypocrite. however, i am DESPERATE.

here i go.. i think i need to start a new log now, but i will keep this because i'm still committed to the anti candida diet!
