AcneSlayer, are you still trying not to pick at your fingers? I'll try that too because I've been biting my nails and picking at the skin around them for as long as I can remember. It's super hard to quit that and I always feel a lot worse when I pick, whether it's my face or nails!

I have the same. I've been picking the skin around my nails for many years. (Probably started when I was 13 or so and now I'm 24). The last few weeks I've picked at them really bad. I've had better times smile.gif. So yes, it is super hard to quit woah21!

My face is clearing up and I have not really been picking, only at a spot around my mouth. I am taking Minocycline so I won't have any inflammation during the treatment but I am wondering what I should do for the problem of clogged pores/blackheads and pigmentation. Since it is getting summer, a peeling/laser treatment won't be the best option as I want to go in the sun. I better do that in winter. ?

The antibiotics will not change the oil production in my skin.

Yeah so the 1st day didn't work out too well... It's like trying not to pick made me want to pick even more. I'm just glad I dont pop the really painful and deeper pimples!
Today went really well though! I didn't pick at all but my fingers were constantly feeling my face to find bumps.

I'll join everyone on this. It's so upsetting, my skin has been mostly clear for a while but just a few days ago I started getting a few small bumps on my cheeks. Now a few days later after picking and squeezing my face is back to square one and even more breakouts are forming. All my progress down the drain. Picking is bad news all around, I just gotta keep reminding myself of that every time I pass by that stupid magnifying mirror eusa_doh.gif

It's 11:57pm here so I'll start at the stroke of midnight, and try to avoid the magnifying mirror til then confused.gif

Today is the 5th day of the challenge and I didn't pick.

woah21- Thanks!! I'm glad you joined smile.gif Good luck!

anberlin - I'm glad you joined smile.gif Good luck! The real test for me is right before bed too. When I'm tired and sleepy, instead of going straight to bed, I end up picking. Does that happen with you too?

AcneSlayer - It's great that you keep trying! If you feel that what you've been doing to stop yourself from picking hasn't been working, try something else. Keep a squishy ball, a rubber band, a piece of string, or anything that you can always have nearby to play with, stretch, and squeeze with your hands.

Well another day 1 starts tomorrow! I picked at dry skin yesterday and today I woke up with some new pustules on my chin and near my mouth so I felt like I had to get rid of those! haha. I will try harder these next few days. I've just been pretty stressed out which doesn't help at all.

Still stresseddddd tongue.gif I don't know If I should just wait on this whole non-picking thing or push through it when I want to pick the most. Hmmm.. I'll try my hardest to not pick tomorrow and see how it goes from there.
How's everyone else doing?

Hey I know I haven't posted in a while so as an update I picked and ruined my 11 day challenge once again. I've only completed it once and I'm trying to complete it again. I'm still trying! I need to get over this addiction. I hope everyone else has better luck than me in quitting smile.gif

Hello everyone,

still a picker here! I actually quit the challenge long time ago.
I haven't picked my face that much (I'm still on minocycline) and I'm using tretinoin 0,02%. I have many red spots/scars, clogged pores, and the tretinoin is not really working for that.
However, my skin has improved but I'm afraid that when I stop the minocycline it will come back..

Day 2, and there's this nasty green pustule on my faceeeee sad.gif I want to get rid of it so bad but I don't want to open it up then have to put a towel over it. I hate having to stop the bleeding and I just feel like a red, bloody mess afterwards...

I think the reason I kept failing this challenge was because I know I don't pick excessively. Throughout this bad phase of my acne, since about November, I have only picked and popped almost every pimple on my face. I was so ashamed, but I still pick anyways. I kept telling myself that it was no big deal that I would just try again tomorrow, but that wouldn't change anything and I would still pick the next day (such a long, horrible cycle to go through). I still scar like everyone else, mostly on my forehead, and I know I need to stop.
I now realize that just because I don't pick as much as some people do doesn't mean I can't stop too. I have to stop and so does everyone else if they don't want to scar or totally ruin their self-esteem.
But sometimes I don't know which is worse: a green/yellow pustule or the possibility of getting a future scar.

Hopefully this mountain will dry up tonight so it can just fall off tomorrow morning...
Keep trying everyone!!!

Hey everyone smile.gif I'm sadly posting to say that I'm leaving this website. I hope many of you continue to try the challenge and to stop picking. I hope all of you succeed! I'm still trying to quit picking. Thanks everyone who posted!! Bye smile.gif

woah21- I hope the pustule dries up before you pick it smile.gif Good luck with the challenge and to answer your question a scar is so much worse than a green/yellow pustule because a scar is permanent.

Are you guys still doing this? Did you manage to stop??

I totally massacred my face yesterday & ended up crying and spending most of the day in bed & made some lame excuse not to see my bf who then in turn got sorta mardy with me. basically - it soooo wasn't worth it!!!

So I'm counting today as day 1 as my face was sort of bearable until I attacked it yesterday :/

I'm doing well so far though, I have a massive whitehead sticking out on my chin & so far managed not to pick it smile.gif
