I read somewhere that in both acne and sebborheic dermatitis, there is oily skin and improper shedding of skin cells. My dad had acne till college but has SD even now at 60. I am 31, very oily skin still, and still acne. Dandruff on my scalp but no SD anywhere else. I am scared of taking accutane but I am also afraid I may continue to suffer from acne even till I am 60 since my dad still has SD at 60? His skin does not look visibly oily (as in shiny, greasy facial skin like me) but if he still has SD, his sebaceous glands must still be producing thick sebum?
Is there a connection between acne and sebborheic dermatitis?

yes there is. Different facets of the same underlying genetic faults.

Yeah, they're both caused by the same thing, but there are shampoos with charcoal, salicylic acid, and apple cider vinegar that will help with breakouts near your hairlinr while treating the dandruff.
