I have been waiting for this for years. I'm so happy with the results and proud of myself for going through with it! Accutane changed my life for the better. I'm so much more confident and less stressed. I don't know how else i can explain how pleased i am. WOOHOO!!!!! T

Your skin is indeed beautiful and it genuienly makes me so happy to see results like this. The before and after pictures are polar opposites and it's really inspiring. I can't even begin to think what it's like to get to that point - knowing that everything is clear and that it will stay that way - but I'm so pleased for you, and I'm sure seeing such great results will give a boost to those who are currently mid-way through their course. Congratulations! :D

11 DAYS AFTER MY LAST ACCUTANE PILL UPDATE! :

Hey Everyone :] My skin is still clear and it's almost too good to be true. I was so nervous to stop taking Accutane because whenever i went off a medication my acne would start a war 10x worse on my face. I can't thank you all enough for all of the support. People like you deserve to have clear skin and to be happy! I will continue to keep this updated <3 I hope you all are doing well on your course.

2 MONTHS POST ACCUTANE:

Hello everyone! I'm happy to report that i'm still acne free. I only get a spot around my period but goes away over night when i put a spot treatment on it. My skin hasn't returned to being the oily mess it once was. It's a little dry but that's only because it's very cold where i am now. I would say my skin type is "normal" now. I thought i would tell you all the products i am using now and the products i used on accutane.

Currently:

Cetephil Gentle Cleanser - morning and night with my Clarisonic Mia (deep pore cleansing brush head) The clarisonic is AMAZING.
Acne Stress Control Triple Action Toner- morning and night (precaution)
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater. This stuff really hydrates my skin throughout the day
Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Corrector Clinical - morning and night before my face cream. It's been working amazing. My scars are almost gone.
Mario Badescu Control Cream - morning and night. This stuff is my favorite product. It's gets rid of redness and soothes dry skin. I have eczema too so this stuff is perfect!
Mario Badescu Lip Wax Stick - morning and night. I like this a lot better than the cortibalm i used whilst on accutane.

What i used on Accutane:
Mario Badescu Cream Cleanswer with Rice and Carnation Oil- morning and night. This stuff will save your life when your skin gets extremely dry from the medicine.
Mario Badesuc Hydro-Emollient Cream- Super hydrating
Mario Badescu Olive Oil Eye Cream to prevent flakes on my eyelids and eye area.
Mario Badescu Healing and Soothing Mask
Dr. Dans Cortibalm

I hope everyone is doing well :]

Hello Everyone! It's almost been a year since I've taken my first accutane pill! I can't believe it. I just want to do a quick little update on my skin. It's been great since my last update but right now i have 11 pimples. Yes, it is that time of the month and i'm extremely stressed with college so i'm not going to sweat it. I know they will go away quickly with some spot treatment (using neutrogena rapid clear 2in1 fight and fade gel with micro-clear). I'm not sure if i'll go on another round of accutane just yet. With ANY breakouts coming back is misleading. I've gotten VERY used to not having pimples. I hope this i don't breakout like this frequently! AHHH! Is this normal? I've taken my last pill in SEPTEMBER. I'm getting worried guys! I hope you're all doing well :]

Hey there, I am just now starting my second round. I started breaking out again 5 months after taking my last pill. The derm has told me that round 2 should be 99% effective.....fingers crossed. I hope your breakout goes away and that you will be back to being acne free!

I sure hope so! I have about 5 deep pimples right now. They are so painful. I've gotten so used to not having this stuff on my face. Ugh! I wonder if i'll be given a higher dose. Good luck!

Hello Everyone! I just want to do a quick update. This Wednesday coming up, i'm going to be seeing my derm to talk about a second round of Accutane. As of right now, i have 5 deep pimples. They are extremely painful. I hope that he can reassure me and let me know that i can still be acne free. I was hoping i wouldn't be one of the people who have to go on a second round but oh well! Whatever it takes to have clear skin :]

Dermatologist Appointment Update:
Hello Everyone! Yesterday i talked to my dermatologist about going on a second course of Accutane. He said he didn't want to jump back into it just yet. He perscribed me the Sumadan face wash (2x a day), Tazorac Cream (just dot it on my spots before bed) and a months worth of Tetracycline. I've taken this medication before with no luck. The dermatologist said he was very confident that this will clear me up back to the way my skin was before. My fingers are crossed.

Sucks that you might have to go for a second course. You certainly wouldn't be the only one to go for round two, but still, I imagine it's disheartening if things didn't quite play out the way you might have hoped in the long term. But, fingers crossed that the new regimen and the Tetracycline do the trick and curb this phase your skin's going through. Don't worry too much about the fact you didn't see great results on the antibiotics the first time - I'm almost at the end of a second course of Doxycycline and this one has worked so much better than the first course I did a number of years ago. Here's hoping this time goes your way, too. :)

Thank you so much. I hope this works out in my favor as well. My skin is horrible right now. My forehead and nose are covered in tiny pimples. The Tazorac cream is already drying and peeling my skin. I'm going to update this in a week and see how things go. My fingers are crossed! Good luck to you :]

Bad News!
I didn't plan on updating for a little while but i received a frustrating phone call from the pharmacy and the pills i took made me very sick to my stomach. The tetracycline made me throw up and had me in bed 2 hours after i took it. I am not taking that stuff anymore, and when i say that, i mean i wouldn't be able to anyways! The pharmacy called and said that they stopped making tetracycline and had given me the last bottle. Also, the cream and face wash i was prescribed won't be in for another month. I called my dermatologist and left him a long message. Maybe this is fate and will somehow convince him to just put me back on my beloved accutane. It's the only treatment that has EVER worked for me!

Booooo! :[

Tetracycline must be taken with food or it WILL make you very nauseous. I'm surprised that this wasn't listed on the outside of the bottle that the pharmacy gave you. If you didn't taken your last pill with a meal, that's probably why you threw up.

I took it with food and milk just like the bottle said. I'm very familiar with these types of pills. I went through the same thing when i was on Doxycycline. I just don't think they are a good match for me! D:

That's unfortunate, hope you're feeling better now. I only got sick once on Doxy and that was because I took the pill without food or drink. My body soon let me know of it's disapproval! Fingers crossed that you can find a more suitable alternative, or indeed get another shot at Accutane. :)

Sorry to hear it's returning now, but hopefully a second course will clear you once and for all :)

I'm sorry to see you might need to go though Accutane round again. I hope you get the right medicine you can try before you really have to do it. Reading your post, I remember I also got really sick from one of the antibioticks, I think it was doxy - but it was only bacause I had very little food with it. I wonder how come your derm prescribed you something thats been discontinued. If you decide to go on Accutane again, I think you should wait at least 6 months after your last pill. However, try some other medication before that. I hope something will work out and I wish you luck.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate your kindness. My skin IS doing better but i haven't been taking the Tetracycline. I haven't updated because i'm still waiting on a phone call from my Dermatologist discussing the discontinuation of the medication I've been prescribed. Maybe this was a fluke breakout? I think it's common to have a breakout 3-5 months after your last pill. Who knows! Maybe i'm making it up to make myself feel better lol. I have no active breakouts, just red spots now. I am relieved because i know i can cover the redness with makeup. <3

Hello everyone. I am happy to report that my skin is back to being completely clear. I guess it's normal to have some sort of breakout 3-5 months post accutane. I think i overreacted D:

Current Skin Care Routine-
Before i get this started, i want to point out that i use practically all Mario Badescu Skin Care. I trust this brand and have never gotten a reaction from it. I have eczema, redness and melasma. I have to be extremely careful with what i put on my skin.

Foundation or "Base" wise: I use the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation or the Physicians Formula Color Correcting Powder depending on the occasion. I use other makeup products but i thought i'd just stick to the stuff that goes directly on my skin.

Makeup Remover: Mario Badescu Cucumber Makeup Removing Cream is awesome especially now that i have dry skin and it's Winter making it more so that way. I apply some Cream onto my DRY face and eyes and gently move my hands in a circular motion. Then, i take a washcloth that is soaked in warm water and gently remove. Boom. Done.

Face Wash: I was gifted with a Clarisonic Mia and the Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head this past year and i'm in love. With that, i like to use either the Mario Badescu Cream Cleanser (I find this better than Cetaphil) or the Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser.

Moisturizer: Mario Badescu Cream X. This stuff is intense and was an investment. $40?! I know, i know. BUT, it is soooo amazing for Winter. I have no flakiness or rough patches like i usually would. First cream I've tried that actually does the job without making me feel like i smeared butter on my face. I will not be using this in the warmer months because it will be too much. During the warmer season, i LOVE the Mario Badescu Hydro Emollient Cream.

Scar Cream: Mederma Scar Cream. I am testing this out. No significant change yet, but it's only been a week.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'd love to hear from you guys! It will be a year very soon since I've taken my first pill. I can't believe it!
