Hi I've recently started the regimen but had to stop using the BP I purchased as my skin was terrible. Around 4 days in I started to get really dry skin, with lots of visible dead skin around my mouth (I has to use Honey to get rid of it). I have since stopped using the BP and just wash my face and then moisturise. Anyway, my question is, should I carry on using this BP or look for a new type. I didn't spot it at the time but it has Sodium Laurly Sulphate in it. Heres the box for reference (I'm in the UK by the way):

I find that the Panoxyl "Acnegel" is much less irritating on your face than the "Aquagel". My face was able to go through two whole tubes of 40mg "Acnegel", however, when I switched to the "Aquagel" my face turned red, dry, and had the worst scaliness I have ever experienced. After the redness of the "Aquagel" had subsided, my face was the equivalent to sandpaper.
I did find however that I was able to cope with the "Aquagel" if I was to only use it at night, but it basically had a slower effect of what was inevitably going to happen again.
I have now ordered Dan's BP and I'll see how it works.

Thank you for your helpful reply
What %BP should I choose when purchasing the acengel? I can only seem to find 5% online. Would this be ok?

Sorry for the late reply (My account wasn't signing in properly), When I used Acnegel I had actually used the 5% version and it was far less irritating than the 2.5% Aquagel.

Ha great, I have just this second picked up the 5% acnegel, as my local shop (sainsburys) does not stock the 2.5%. I have noticed on the ingredients list that it does not contain Sodium Laurly Sulphate
Thank you very much for your help, and I will let anybody that wants to know how I get on with it. I am going out on saturday for a party so hopefully it gets to work fast haha.

Used 2.5% for about a year, i also got the redness and dryness. Just try to start off with a little and build it up gradually as dans reccomends, also get a good moisturiser.
Would def reccomend the 2.5 over the 5 though, less irritating with scientific studies finding little differences in the effectiveness of 5% compared to 2.5%
Give it a try see how you get on , it may not be the BP for you.
I also tryed quinoderm less harsh but didn't seem as effective for me compared to panoxyl
I used aquagel btw
Good luck

I've been on the regimen for 3 days, using panoxyl aquagel. My face is stinging like crazy and I look like I've been in the sun for two weeks. I saw that it had SLS in it, which I'm not sure whether that is the route of the problem or not? Should I stop using it or what?

Hey,
I used PanOxyl Aquagel 2.5% and it was very effective in terms of doing what the BP is mean to do, preventing new breakouts etc. I made the switch to Dan's Acne.Org BP simply because PanOxyl was too drying, irritating and made me a hot mess of flakes. The redness does go down but you really have to be persistant with it. I used it for a whole month and then made the switch to Dans. It is so much more gentle. You are only on Day 3 so expect drying, redness, irritation. Check out my log in my signature and you can see what I went through. If it is similar to what you are it is normal I would assume.

I use PanOxyl 2.5, and although the redness does get a little better, 5 months on my face is still red/irritated, I'm now considering having to give up the Regimen because my face apparantly just can't handle it

Been a while since I used PanOxyl with drastic redults. Is Aquagel the truelly gel looking one and acnegel more of like a cream texture?
