I was looking for some "closer to home" alternatives to DK's AHA lotion, & found some on ebay.

A seller called med-fx is selling 8%, 10%, 15%, & 20% AHA glycolic acid revitalising lotions in 100ml (4oz) bottles. The price depends on the strength, ranging from £3.95 for 8%, to £9.96 for 20%.

I have received some 10% & 20% bottles to try on my body acne, although I haven't got round to using them yet, as I'm using up my current body products.

Edit...forgot to mention. It's made in the USA by DCL (dermatologic cosmetic laboratories).

I am entering week 3 soon, so should be able to use AHA around the 4 week mark. I am a little confused about the different percentages and what to begin with? Could you explain a little- sorry I know not the purpose of your post.

Thanks smile.gif

Hi squares.

I was using DK's AHA+ on my body acne, but I soon used it all up, as even though my acne is mild, I get spots popping up all over my body (not just in the usual places such as chest & shoulders/upper back), so it had to be used over a large area.

Because of the long delay in getting DK's products shipped from USA, I ordered a BHA (salisylic acid) body spray from ebay, as a stop gap, before finding the AHA products from med-fx. I thought I might as well finish off the spray before trying the lotion.

The AHA+ sold by DK is 10% glycolic acid which has worked fine on my back (although it doesn't seem to be helping much with my chest acne). I have had no new spots on my back for over 2 weeks, & the texture of my skin feels so much better. I just need to get rid of the marks left by previous spots. That's why I thought I would get the med-fx 20% as well as the 10% to see if it would help with reducing the marks.

DK uses his AHA+ as a spot treatment, or occasionally as a moisteriser on his face. He does say that using too much on your face can sting, so if you are thinking of trying the med-fx lotion, it might be worth trying the 8% strength. It is also a lot cheaper than the 10% (only £3.95 compared to £8.90).

btw...forgot to mention in my first post, it's made by DCL (dermatologic cosmetic laboratories) in the USA.

Unfortunately med-fx haven't relisted their products since their last items ended on 19th February.

Using advanced search to show their completed listings, it looks like very few of their products were selling. Perhaps they have decided to have a break, or even stop selling on Ebay altogether.

There is another seller, selling the same lotion on Ebay, but they want £40 for the same product!

Perhaps you could contact med-fx & ask if they intend selling again on Ebay.

med-fx have started listing on Ebay again. For some reason they only chose to list for 5 days at a time.

I had bought the Walgreens brand of Alpha Hydroxy face cream 8%...a year ago but never stuck with it. I should try it again. It's very cheap like 4 bucks. But not all Walgreens carries it.

Just to add to post #3 above, I never did try the med-fx 20% AHA. Before I had finished using the med-fx 10% AHA, Dan's AHA+ arrived, so I went back to using that, knowing that it works so well.

As for the BHA spray I mentioned above, that was a bit of a disaster. It seemed like a good idea, as, being a spray, you could reach all areas of your back, but it was still awkward to get it exactly where you needed it. I wasted a lot of it by spraying the same area again, or completely missing my back! Being quite a small can, it didn't last long.

Also the spray tended to get in your eyes & down your throat as well, which wasn't very healthy.

Do you mean for your back? Dan's AHA+ is 10%, so I'm not sure how much difference that extra 2% would make. Dan's AHA+ also contains licochalcone which is supposed to soothe the skin.

I think in general any products made for the face might not be strong enough to use on the tougher skin on your back, but for just $4 a go, it might be worth a try.

btw...where's your avatar gone? sad.gif

edit...It's back. I must have caught your post while you were in the process of changing it.
