aka vitex or chaste tree berry - lots of females here have tried it, myself included. It works a bit for some. It's good for those who's acne is primarily hormonal - but those people need to look at why their hormones are out of whack as well.

What ayla said. Plenty of girls also have success with Saw Palmetto because of the estrogenic effects on the body. However, unless you're going through menopause you should not be taking estrogen for obvious reasons.

^ It isn't estrogen or estrogenic. It modulates the pituitary and hypothalamus functions.

It definitely IS estrogenic. High Prolactin = Low Estrogen. Low Prolactin = Higher Estrogen. Concept behind breast feeding.

If it's decreasing your prolactin, it's increasing your estrogen, so yes, that's why females are becoming clear on it.

Everything I've ever seen on it is all about boosting progesterone not estrogen, thus improving estrogen dominance. And that is why many females become clear on it. The same reason many get results from using progesterone cream, and birth control pills with their progestin that may help or make you worse depending on the progestin and your hormone issues.

And it normalizes prolactin levels, so yeah,if your prolactin levels were high and you therefore had low estrogen, it would be estrogenic for you.

Many females also get results from taking broccoli pills or the DIM extracts which remove excess estrogen.

I have been trying Agnus Castus for three months now...so far my acne hasn't improved at all, but it is a slow acting herb, and you are supposed to take it for longer than three months to see a difference. I will post again about my progress!

I'm on it right now and it brought back my period after taking it for 3 months. So that must be a good sign.

i have been using chaste tree pills for a month now - my gyn recommended them, because of extremely irregular periods due to stress. so 2 days ago for the first time in my life i got my period the day i was supposed to. also i feel like i'm a little less acneprone... have been absolutely clear for about a week now, although i'm not sure that the chaste tree is responsible for this as well, since i am also trying out the regimen... i am amazed tho and hope it will keep working this way.
