Welcome to my Water Regimen Log!

Alright. So let me begin by telling my acne story. I started getting a few pimples in between my eyebrows when I was 10. It slowly progressed from there. For about 2 years, I would only get pimples on my forehead for some reason. In grade.. 7 I believe it was, I started using Proactive. It worked wonderfully then and my acne cleared up completely. Whenever I felt dry, I would just slab on some cream in the morning, didn't matter which kind. In the middle of grade 8, my face got sooo dry that I just couldn't handle it anymore. I knew I had to stop Proactive. After that, I tried a multitude of things and my acne just got worse and worse. Right now, 15, I have mild/moderate acne. I mainly get whiteheads and a couple blackheads. I also have hyperpigmentation which really sucks. I get my acne mainly on my forehead. I also get it on my chin and a bit on my nose and inside of cheeks. I've never really had a problem with pimples on my temples, outside of cheeks, and jawline. Although now, it seems like I am a bit.

Right now my regimen is to splash cool water 3 or 4 times on my face at night. I don't do anything in the morning. I'll exfoliate when needed.

Day 1

Okay so this morning I wiped my face with cold water on a cotton pad. I seem to have gotten a couple new pimples, couple new clogs, nothing too major. Last night, I didn't do anything, I just went to bed. I might start just using water in the morning. I shower every other night, so I'll just try my hardest not to get my face wet. I am suppper oily throughout the day. I blotted gently at the lunch, but that's the only time I did. Hopefully the oilyness decreases over time. :/ Overall, I'm feeling pretty hopeful. I'm trying not to look at my face and think about it. It's nice not having to do an elaborate routine morning and night anymore.

Hi
I don't mean to discourage you, however I highly doubt that routine will in turn produce many benefits, however, I suppose its worth a go.

Personally, drinking over 2 litres of water each day (just have a litre bottle on table/desk and sip away) is more beneficial. Eating basic foods (fish, meat, fruit, veg, grains) also appears to help me, but the most important thing is to AVOID SUGAR. Sugar is like poison in my eyes. You would be surprised how many products contain sugar these days... too many!!

Another hint, regular sleep pattern along with regular moderate exercise is extremely beneficial not only to acne but to health in general.

In terms of supplements, Zinc and Omega 3 help a lot. Seriously. Try this. Omega 3 will help with the dryness along with the increased water consumption.

Let me know how you get on!

I have not used any chemical, NONE watsoever, No soap, nothing on my face from July 2009 till this very day. And it helped me from getting deep cysts, but I still got oily skin, whiteheads and acne still came.

IMO Water Only helps if your acne is caused by irratation from chemicals, if your acne is genetic, i.e parents have it, siblings, then water only probably will not cure your acne, but will definetly help acne, not to mention save time and money.

I cured acne using different methods.

Thanks for your advice! Personally, acne is not caused by my diet so I doubt sugar affects it that much. I will certainly try to drink more water. And actually, there have been people who have become clear using a regimen like this. Thanks though, your kind. amused.gif

My acne is not genetic, my parents nor my grandparents had it. I also don't get cysts. Just whiteheads and pustules. Thanks though!

Day 2

No new pimples today. A couple new clogs though. Last night I didn't wash with water, I just went to bed. I think I've decided to just wash in the morning.

Oh my godddd. I need to exfoliate so bad. My nose is flake city and the area around it has flakes too. I think I'll try using a wash cloth tonight and only exfoliating that area. I'll just leave the rest of my face alone. Just after 2 days I'm so flakey. I can't imagine what it would be like after a week.

So far, I'm still positive. I am so oily though. Like incredibly oily. When will the oilyness ever stop!

Day 3

The two new pimples that I got yesterday are completely gone today. That's what I love about this regimen. I didn't wash my face at all last night or this morning actually. I exfoliated the right side of my nose and inside of my cheek because it was so flaky this morning but thats it. The dead skin basically just came right back.

I think I'm going to do a more cavemen like regimen. I want the oil and dead skin to build up so that underneath, my skin can heal. The oil should eventually go away on its own and the dead skin should eventually fall off. Maybe I'll wash with water every 2/3 days. Still undecided. I'll let some water run down my face in my shower tonight. I still have soo many forehead clogs. They just keep coming. I have no clue how to get rid of them. Hopefully, in time, they will go away.

Dont worry, your forehead clogs will probably disappear completely between the 5th-to the 7th day

Water only is the way to go IMO. My skin has always gotten better when I've stopped using skin products and stopped washing that often. I only wash my face once a day now and it's not abnormally oily...

Thanks for the advice Ashley. (:

Yeah, I next time I wash my face I think I'll try exfoliating gently with a washcloth. At the moment, the flaking isn't too bad. And do you know what was a miracle? I woke up this morning after I washed my face last night and my face was not oily. That has never happened before. So I'm pretty physched about that.

Also, my clogs do seems to heal on their own but they also keep coming. So yeah, maybe exfoliating will help.

I have to say I've never heard of this before. It sounds really nice, but I just don't think I'd be brave enough to try it for myself. Good luck, and stay strong...for the sake of those of us not quite ready to try it for ourselves. Keep us posted!

@Ashley: Um, I'm not sure which kind to be exact. They seem to be my skin color except a bit red sometimes. They are just like small bumbs really. And they take forever to go away. I've had em before, even with a regimen.

Day 4

Well I woke up this morning and my face wasn't oily. It's a miracle. That has almost never happened before. And I thinking I was even sweating last night too. Last night I let some water run down my face in the shower. Not on all parts of my face, just some. I kind of let it air dry a bit and I also tried to rub at it with a tissue for some reason.

No new pimples this morning. Just new clogs. A couple clogs healed as well.

Still incredibly oily as the day wore on.

Yeah, I'm hoping oilyness keeps going down. Hm, I don't think it's KP. When I said I had them before, I oily mean't like 1 or 2 clogs. And I had only had them for like a couple months maybe. I'm gonna exfoliate gently with a washcloth in the shower tonight so hopefully that will help.

Day 5

Got 2 new pimples today. One on the inside of my left cheek and one on my forehead. Bleh. My face was oily when I woke up but that's because I didn't wash it. Nothing other that that to report today. I'm going to try exfoliating gently with a washcloth tonight when I shower. Hopefully that'll help me clogs and flakiness.

And Ashley, yeah I'm still doing it partly cavemen. I'm rinsing everyother day when I shower. So every other night actually.

Yeah, while it helped my current flakes, I am now even more flaky then yesterday. Um, I seems to be the flakiest on my nose and inside of cheeks. I'm only flaky a tiny bit on my forehead and chin.

I've just been blotting in the morning. That seems to be fine, it's just my night thing I might change, not sure yet.

Pics? I want to see what this desirable layer of dead skin and oil looks like. I'm not sure I want it.

Day 6

New pimples on my nose today. The one on my inner cheek is healing nicely but the one on my forehead has gotten bigger. :/

I exfoliated in the shower last night with a washcloth. After I came out and my face dried, it was even more flakey than before. I do think it helped my clogs though. I didn't get any new ones today. Maybe I'll exfoliate once or twice a week. The flaking isn't that bad today. Oh, and I woke up non-oily again. I guess after washing it happens. I still got super oily during the day though.

I think I'll try wiping my face with cold water on a cotton pad each night instead of every other night. I'll do it tonight. It's not set in stone though.

Oh and treefase93, I don't like putting pictures of myself on the internet but the layer of skin and oil isn't something super noticable. The oil is just you know.. regular old oil that people get on their skin. And the dead skin is just small flakes. Surely you know what flakes look like?

I drink over 2 liters of water each day. I've been blotting throughout the day just because it's so embarrassing but that might change as well, I haven't decided yet. After trying this for 2 days, my forehead just gets so clogged.

Day 7

Ughhhhh. So today I went to the hairdressers and jeez, she kept scraping her nails across my forehead. So now it's all red and irritated. My clogs are now big and red instead of small and colorless.

Got a new pimple on my forehead and one my nose. The one on my forehead from yesterday is still huge. I wiped my face with cold water and a cotton pad last night. It was soo flaky! I wasn't oily this morning but I was flaky. I was still oily during the day.

Crappy day for my skin overall. I might not wash tonight.
