Is anyone washing their face three times a day... preferably the first two times with just water?
I'm going to be moving to a tropical climate that's 90 degrees and 90% humidity all year round and even now in a dry climate I am so very very oil. If I wake up at 8 AM every morning and wash my face, could I wash my face again say at around 3 and then finally at night around 9 or 10 with a gentle cleanser and then apply my prescription acne medication?

My skin generally is dry, but becomes very oil, so I do have to use a moisturizer, but after about two hours im an oil slick. I have tried the oil absorbing sheets but they tend to break me out no matter how gentle I am. Plus I think after usage, my skin feels kind of dry. I don't mind having to apply moisturizer three times a day if I'm washing three times a day.

and does over washing really cause an increase in oil production?

Thanks

No. That's just an old urban myth that refuses to die. It was first disproved more than 50 years ago.

Washing the face to get rid of oil on your skin is good since we know that to much oil could lead to acne breakouts. However, it can also lead your skin to produce more oil or lead to skin dryness. You did mention that you're moving to a tropical country, hhmm... that might exacerbate your oily skin condition.

I think what is important here is change in diet and lifestyle choices. Try to eat more vegetables and fruits and limit your intake of oily foods or food cooked in animal fat or vegetable oils. If you have to, replace them with canola or olive oil instead. Most important of all, drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated as well as to flush toxins away. Hope this helps! smile.gif

Try showering 3 times a day, it's what i do on days which i feel im at my worst and can't deal with the oil from chest upwards.

Lucky it's only your face producing oil!!!

But considering moving to a climate where it's warmer, is what has crossed my mind a few times!

Good luck with finding something either way!

I wash 3 times a day. My skin is really dry, peeling everywhere immediately after the wash, but the oil returns later nonetheless.

I technically wash my face 3 times a day but the 2nd time is only with a towel with warm water after school

I wash 3 times a day with cleanser.

I just realized that this is not a good idea. I have been breaking out a lot lately and I think it's due to the cleansers that are used so frequently that increased the pH level of my skin.

When I first started researching acne everyone/every website said to wash your face twice.Once in the morning and once again before you sleep.

That could be about 12 hours or even more if you have school since you have to wake up early. Thats way to much time for bacteria and oil to stay on your face.

I wash my face once in the morning, then shower in the middle of the day (around 5-6PM), then before I go to sleep.
