So my new derm is wonderful and wanted to get me off the cyclines, which weren't helping anyways.

My bottle does not state dosage, just med and to take twice daily. I thought this was odd? I dont know if the bactrim ds is one size fits all?

Anywho. So far, im amazed. I have yet to have the horrible side effects I had on cyclins... Tummy aches, headaches, heartburn, excessive dizziness no more. I was warned about possible rashes and how thats a sign of allergy. I was even told what an allergic rash would most likely look like.

I've noticed a few zits have stopped swelling as much already. Although there are new zits still showing up they are also less swollen. Yay. I'm really hoping this works, and that I can avoid accutane (next step in plan). Its not that I wouldn't take accutane, but I'd like to exhaust all other options first.

I do have a question, I have no visible rash. However, I have been itchy on my torso and forearms. The skin feels dry. Now this could just be from the weather - its been freezing and snowy here. Is itchiness alone cause for any concern with Bactrim?

The itchiness is probably just due to the weather but if it persists after a while then I would talk to your doctor about it. I was put on Bactrim over 2 years ago and was fine for a bit. Then after a few days or so I started to get warm at night. I thought it was just hot in my bedroom and didnt think anything about it. About 2 weeks later I was so hot when I tried to sleep that I had to have the AC and my ceiling fan on. Again I didnt think much about it. I went to work and within a few hours after taking my pill I broke out in a rash and got really cold and started shivering. Then within an hour I got super hot and was on fire. I went to my doctor and my temp was at 103! They put me on steroids for 6 days!! So just be careful and if you experience anything unusual call your doctor.

Thank you for the reply.
Im still itching, but I've also noticed my skin getting very very dry. The weather is still not good here.
So I'll keep close watch. So far, no other possible side effects. And my skin is already looking so much better.
