i stopped washing my face with anything but water... soap and cleansers dried it out way too much, in turn making it oily.

I have the same gosh-darned problem with my car: washing it somehow makes it dirtier. Guess I'm gonna have to stop washing it altogether! wacko.gif

Bryan

yea because a car and your face are the same thing. rolleyes.gif

anyway, heres an update..

Well i stopped "not washing" because my red marks weren;t going anywhere. But one thing i took away from that experiment is that oil defintely calms down during and after the experiment. I usually wash once a day in the shower and sometimes not at all(i take showers at night). I also use cocoa butter and neutrogena pore refining toner to help with redmarks. Only once a day for the toner(sometimes twice), and usualy twice with cocoa butter. Let me tell you, my skin has not looked this good in a LONG time. Im still not completely clear yet and once i am, ill make sure to make a post about it. (just wanna make sure it really works).

Ballaballa, you're using an astringent (toner). Don't you think that is why the skin would seem less oily? Hmmm, please let me know.

This experiment doesn't really have much integrity with the use of a toner in it!

nope it is not the toner. I just started using it. I've been"non-oily" for awhile now. Plus i only use it on parts of my face. But im also not really doing the experiment either.

I'm confused Ballaballa. I see you plugging this "wash once a day and reduce oil production" theory in almost every forum of Acne.org, yet you're not even doing it anymore. And you say that now you use an astringent (toner) to reduce oiliness!? I really think you're too stubborn to admit defeat.

Placebo effect, i think so!

QUOTE(AlexAlmighty @ Aug 16 2004, 02:21 AM) View Post

So i was sitting infront of the mirror looking my crappy face and i was wondering when did all this started,i went to the bedroom and relaxed..i wanted to know when and under what conditions my acne started.I knew it wasnt bad food, masturbation or genes cause my bro is ####### fat and i know why he locks himself in his room everynight (and he is clear)! tongue.gif.So i tried to remember,i know it all started with some blackheads on my nose..and then it hit me like a 2ton boulder, back then my mom told me i should shower everyday and wash my face, something i havent stopped doing since. That moment i thought of my bro who takes a shower twice a week or less,i was like wtf?.I puzzled a little bit more and came to the conclusion that we dont fight acne logically, and what i mean by that. Its a fact that sebum oil causes acne, and that oil is produced to keep the skin moist etc, humans are a highly adaptable species, and so if we dry up our skin every 5-6 hours or whatever our bodies will learn to respond faster,so producing huge amounts of oil in short time.

So i did a little experiment,i didnt shower or wash my face for 3days and 3nights.
While simultaneously eating huge amounts of sugars, fats and masturbating 3 times a day.At this point most of you will say that that was a BAAD move.By the end of day 2 my face was almost dripping oil..i had to resist washing it,i did brake out 3 times with about 5-6 whiteheads each time BUT by the end of day 3 they ALL healed, some were healing in 12hrs or so.All the red marks were fading etc.So fast forward to day 4 (today) I took a shower in the morning,i turned the shower head so the water would come down in 1 uniform stream (cause i believe all that high pressure and multiple streams dry your face).I washed my face with only water and without touching it.I still have oily face but its getting better and i intend to shower like this once every 2 days until my face gets to a point where it stops producing oil.I know this type of "cure" is radical but who would believed some decades ago that penicillin would actually be bacteria smile.gif.

My dogs skin gets crappy too if it takes more than a bath/week.You know what they say less is actually more.

Hey cool experiment. I love fight club by the way. Well, ehh bye.

What are you talking about? First of all, I wash my face once a day and sometimes none. Second i dont use the toner to reduce oiliness. I use it to get rid of my acne marks. I dont even use it all over my face. When the hell did i say that i use it to reduce oil?

Admit defeat from what?

um. i've been doing the do-nothing regime for about 3-4 weeks now. during the first 1-2 weeks, the pigmentation cleared up a little, but i had many whiteheads near my lip. they all cleared out in a day or two, which is remarkably fast for me. the red spots are starting to come back...i think. there seems to be a lot of white specks on my face; they tend to come off when i rub them. when i pull them out, they look like solid pus.

i don't know if i should keep going with this regime...

i started doing this regimin a week ago. so far its all good but it is still oily. It is so much easier doing nothing than spending a half hour in the washroom. I highly recomend this regimin.

this is a pretty un-hygenic way to go to remove acne..
but hey, if it works, it works.
just wear a lot of body spray or something.. no shower for 3-4days will not go unnoticed...

You can shower, just don't get your problems areas such as the face and back wet... just wash your ass and balls, armpits, and stuff.
