I can't speak from experience as I'm not taking Accutane, but this is just the first thing which came to mind: I'd get the blood test results and see what's what. It might just help you make a more informed decision.

Maybe if you're still stuck, a second opinion from a dermatologist instead of the walk-in would help you figure things out.

As far as dosage goes, logically 10mg would be the safest option and perhaps also reduce the chances of a major initial breakout, which you're understandably right to fear.

Credit to you for being cautious and for wanting to pay attention to the signs your body is displaying with things such as the hair loss. I guess it's just frustrating that it's maybe not too clear what it is your body is trying to tell you at the moment.

Thanks for the kind words of advice Paul, means a lot!
I went and got my bloodwork done this morning, and I'll get my results back in 2 day =) I'm almost 100% sure my cholesterol is too high so I've already started my cholesterol-free diet and metamucil shooters haha.

I've made up my mind and I'm going to try the accutane. I'm doing the regimen once at night only to help with the dryness and I'm probably going to keep doing the regimen 1x/day while on accutane, just for the first couple of months to help with the IB.

Anybody do this while on tane?

Date with the derm on tuesday to see if my cholesterol is at an okay level to start accutane! Ahh so excited/anxious..

I've been on Ortho-tri cylen lo for almost 2 months now and..yep.. not doing shit all lol. possibly making things worse.

on a more positive note, using BP only at night hasn't made much of a difference acne-wise, but made a huuuge difference skin-texture wise! my face isn't dry at all anymore, but it's super oily (albeit having moderate cystic acne, i have never dealt with oily skin before). My guess is the BP severly dried out my skin, making it produce way more oil to compensate, and now that I don't use as much BP my skin's all "wtf!" and keeps producing the excess oil eventhough i'm not dry as a desert anymore. I'll take oily over leathery snake skin anyday tho.. today is the first day in almost a year that I wore some mineral foundation and it didn't look disgusting. I had to wear it cause my face was so shiny and oily but still.. i love the fact that i can wear makeup again!

oh and i'm not using AHA anymore because it kept giving me more and more and more blackheads (as well as crazy itchiness and flakes) even after 2-3 weeks of using it so i figured fuck it, it's probably doing more damage then good.

Hi everyone! Just a quick update, my derm appointment was this morning and my cholesterol levels were just slightly elevated so I was prescribed 10mg/day accutane =) therefore I'm retiring this log since I won't be doing the acne.org regimen anymore! If you guys wanna follow my accutane journey/progress I'll be making another log in the accutane logs forum! thanks for all your support =)

Good stuff, glad things worked out as you hoped. Every seems to be getting Accutane sorted, think I really need to join the party and kick stupid acne once and for all. I shall see you over there in the Accutane logs. Best of luck! hifive.gif
