Yeah! I had the same realization. I didn't know the difference for a while, because everyone talks about PIH. PIH is pigmentation, PIE has more to do with your traditional post-acne marks. Mine are more red after a hot shower or doing something irritating. Also, if you know this, then know that most "lightening serums" are meant to tackle the excess melanin, not what we have!

It definitely has to be PIE. It makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for helping me make that realization!

I like how this is the only rated thread I've ever seen on acne.org lol.gif

Sounds like things are going great! Sulfur does the same thing for me if I overuse it. Keep up the good work and clear skin is around the corner biggrin.gif

Haha, erm, I may have rated it myself when I was trying to figure out what the stars were. And I can't really unrate it...I tried...but this log is 5-star quality anyway right? right? Ah.

Yeah, I've never experimented with doing peels myself. I just need to be careful. No peeling today! It appears after each peel I didn't peel the same day, the day after, but the 2nd and 3rd day are bad! No peeling today though. But I have a new plan of attack to prevent bad peeling, I'll see if it works!! It involves leaving the salicylic on for less than 2 minutes, and waiting 10 days before the next peel. For upkeep, I want to try an azelaic/mandelic acid serum that will reduce redness and shallow comedones, while attempting spot treating with the salicylic every couple days, leaving for less than 2 minutes. That way I annihilate all actives. As it stands:

salicylic/sufur - treatment
azelaic/mandelic, manuka cream and BB cream - prevention
enzyme spray, HA serum, hydralight moisturizer and organic cream whip w/ SPF - protect and soothe

I peel only by day 5 and done peeling by day 10. So good luck! Don't be too harsh on your skin. Give your skin 3 weeks between peels!

I'm going to try 10 days between my peels I think. It just depends on the strength of the peel and resilience of your skin.

Very true, there was a member here who did peels weekly, used a clarisonic, Bb cream, retinol, aha/bha cleansers, and stuff like that on a day to day basis, minus the peels. Her skin looked great!

How strong is your peel? It took me 12 days to complete the peeling process. No wonder pores are clogged so easily! The dead skin does not want to shed unless there's some acids going on. T_T

Just 15%, and I apply HA after and creams after. I'm talking with an esthetician who might try a 30% peel. Now that concentration would have much worse peeling. And it's true that some skin has a tendency of being "thick," and we have to exfoliate somehow. Some people do wonderfully letting their skin do its natural shedding (hence caveman regimen). Most people with acne aren't so lucky!
