Originally, I posted this within another thread (Sept 22) and thought I'd follow up with some additional info now that some more time has passed and it's basically cleared up. I started this thread in the hopes that this may help someone else as it not only gave me a pretty good scare, but it also happened in a "weird" place and was really touch and go (no pun intended) for a little bit there.

except for the size of my "pimple". I'd been putting Neosporin w/ Pain Relief (NwPR) on the "pimple", located at the base of the top portion of my shaft, um, kind of like this: }=*==o , a couple of times a day and over the course of a little more than two days, it swelled even larger to the size of a quarter in diameter and almost a marichino cherry in size on top. It was tender to the touch at the center portion and very firm (although not tender at all), around the perimeter, almost hard (npi), and still is even after 24 hours or so. I'm pretty sure it started as an in-grown hair (from shaving the day before I noticed it), which was only a small bump (which wasn't tender at all) a week or so ago, then it went wild and ballooned up within two + days. I'll tell ya, it's kinda scary given how quickly it progressed to its final size, color and tenderness, not to mention the lack of a positive diagnosis - professional or otherwise added to the worries. I've gotta hand it to the Neo w/PR as it really worked to numb/ease the pain being emitted unless it was impacted just right; I just put a good coat on it so it wouldn't dry out and left it alone. I do think that the anti-bacterial nature of the ointment, or any topical antibiotic/antiseptic for that matter, causes a pimple to ripen sooner, but that's a whole other conversation.
Although there wasn't the telltale "whitehead", it was a very dark purple in the center when it was finally "ripe" enough to drain (or even to attempt it) and what was scariest was that the majority of fluid that ended up coming out (well, actually coaxed out), appeared to be extremely dark blood. It actually happened while applying a glob of NwPR, when I noticed a little fluid seeping out from the center of the "pimple", so I gave it a very gentle squeeze (almost no pressure at all), from the left and right sides, and instead of "popping" like most super-ripe pimples do, it immediately excreted a large bubble of fluid from a "pore" at the center of the "pimple", without any pain or resistance whatsoever. The fluid just "spurt" out and was like a giant dark red blood bubble instead of the clear, white or yellowish "pus" that's typically found when other ripe pimples "pop". Luckily, it wasn't under the same pressure that causes other pimples to "explode" cause given the sheer volume of the fluid/blood that was eventually soaked into towels, had it actually "popped", it would have looked like a crime scene in my living room! I was relieved to find a paper towel nearby that I used to soaked the blood into; I wasn't even thinking of trying to drain it and had it not been for the slight seepage during the NwPR application, I would have just left it alone. More gentle pressure produced more of the fluid/blood which I soaked up with clean portions of the towel. It wasn't long before clean spots on the towel were nowhere to be found and I switched to another paper napkin easily within reach (I can't get up or it'll leak and drip all over the place so I was a little "stuck".) There was an audible, and felt, "pop" around the third "squeeze" and a zithead (pretty good sized and firm, not the watery type) could be seen in the sea of blood in which it sat and then there was another "pop" that I felt, but didn't notice anything that should have been expelled as I soaked up the fluid/blood. I continued to coax out all that I could as it was noticeably shrinking in size, but it became extremely tender after the majority of the blood/fluid was extracted. I was very relieved to find that the fluid did not have a bad or rancid smell to it. Woo Hoo for little miracles. It's still disconcerning to know that all of this came from a bump that formed on the shaft of my penis!!!
So, that's were I'm at 24 hours or so later and it's mostly staying fluid free but the firm areas around it are still pretty hard and that worries me a bit... I'm also a bit weirded out at the blood that was coming out vs the usual zit/pus/fluid that accompanies a ripe zit "removal" and it wasn't waterred down blood but looked like the contents of the vial after you've had blood drawn. I guess the towels showed that it wasn't that dark (just concentration I guess), but either way, it looked pretty dark to me. I'm also wondering if: 1) it will return or 2) if I missed some and/or didn't get the actual "head"... Gentle attempts a little bit ago coaxed out a very, very small amount of blood and it's noticeably smaller than it has been the last couple of days, but it's definately not ready at all to be drained again, and hopefully won't ever be and just goes away.
Thoughts on Recurrence!? : As much as I like popping zits, and who doesn't?, this was a little too much. I was equally shocked to recall that I had experienced something similar with a "pimple" that formed on the underside of my scrotum about 8 years ago but in that instance I couldn't see it at all, only feel it and boy, did it hurt, it took almost a week for it to finally "ripen" (being tender to the touch and movement in general) and when it was over, I thought then that it couldn't possibly happen again (I stopped shaving that close nor everyday to help prevent another ingrown hair incident). I followed the same regiment as above although I had a teytracycline ointment and used that as NwPR didn't exist then; the NwPR really would've helped ease the pain IMO. It came to a head one day in the shower, and a gentle squeeze caused the first audible "pop" and looking down I could only see my bloody hands being rinsed clean by the water cascading off of me. The weird thing with that pimple was that it "popped" a lot of times; I didn't keep count, who would've thought to, but I'm sure it was at least seven (7) separate "explosions". Each of the "pop"s were accompanied by more blood though I do believe I felt what seemed to be a very firm zithead after one of the first "pops" that was probably the culprit for the pimple to begin with. With that incident recalled, now I'm really bummed, cause if it happened twice already, there's the possibility of it happenning again (without any real way to avoid it), and sometime in the next eight years or so if my calculations are correct...

A little over a week later, around the 1st of October, it "popped' again though this time: 1) it took more coaxing than the original incident and 2) the contents that drained out were a clearish blood color (more like normal zit excretions). I had found a bottle of ProActive spot treatment lotion in the medicine cabinet that was left over from my SO's attempts at using ProActive and I applied it twice daily as instructed. It's 2.5% BP, which I've never used at all in any product, as I've never utilized a treatment of any sort. I guess it worked, it took almost a week before it popped and then it popped again two days ago with each occurrance resulting in a smaller and smaller bump with less areas being firm. I did notice that the last incidences resulted in a hole/crater at the center of the site and while I'm pretty sure it'll go away, I still find it interesting that it's there to begin with.
That's pretty much it for me, it's basically gone and seems to be healing rather quickly, so I'm thinking that it'll be good as new in another week or two. I truly hope that this is the last of the genital zits, as they really seem to be much more intense than those I get on my face. Their placement as well as the overall size, tenderness and eventual excretion is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. It is kind of good for a laugh now that it's over, but I tell ya, for a bit there, I was wondering if it would ever go away and more so if it would unexpectedly explode on its own which would have made for an interesting mess...
You definately want to be careful when shaving too close, especially in your neatheregions! I still like my twig and giggleberries cleaned up and smooth but definately not shaved as often as my face is (once daily) and I think it's still appreciated by those that get to experience it; a little stubble beats a gigantic explosive zit.
And Ladies, I don't envy y'all as nothing beats a nicely shaved, smooth and soft "area" (which takes more frequent shaving/attention) but if y'all get these types of "monster zits" from ingrown hairs as well, I for one would be understanding of a little more stubble between clearings
