Have been using 4% clindamycin in dormer 211 cream for about 5 weeks, with no real results. I feel like I am breaking out more with it, but it's so sporadic and could be caused by other factors that I can't be sure (I used Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation that gave me an instant breakout). The only real changes I found with clindamycin are that it cleared up the clogged pores on my nose, now there are only visible pores.

Just been prescribed 1/4 tablets of 100mg doxycycline twice a day without food, so let's see how that goes! I am also using PanOxyl 2.5% gel before the clindamycin.

Feel free to post your experiences or questions in this thread.

It's been about 1 month since I have been on that regimen. I haven't followed it strictly, I've forgotten to take the doxy a few times. But I can say that with the doxy I have not had any breakouts, besides 2 small pimples just before the time of the month (maybe it was also attributed to missing several doses). I am happy with the results so far. The negatives include: nasty taste when taking the doxy medication; planning the medicine around meal times; and a bit of an upset stomach/nausea with the doxy. I am going to continue taking doxy for 2 more months.

As for the topical clindamycin, I really hate it. I have found minimal progress with it, but in my opinion, its negatives outweigh the positives. I hate that it leaves a gross taste on the lips even if I put it nowhere near my lips (it's almost like the vapour travel and stick to my lips) AND I wash my hands after applying the lotion....I hate that it creates such a greasy feeling all over my face, I have to use a tissue to matte it down.....And I hate that it didn't do much for the acne. BP has so far done a better job at controlling acne than clindamycin. The one good thing about clindamycin is that it has cleared up my dark, clogged pores on my nose "blackheads" people call them. I don't really have dark spots on my nose any more and I'm sure it was due to the clindamycin. However, my pores look way, WAY larger.
