Hey all,

I just started Dan's regime 2 nights ago and decided that it would help if I keep a log about it!

My acne flared up in May this year after using tea tree and everything went mental...My acne was fairly controlled for the past couple of years and I wanted to use tea tree because there were 5 spots on my face I wanted to get rid of. As it turns out - i'm allergic to tea tree...ever since then I have been endlessly looking for something that will tame it down. Obviously as time passes, I got even more worried and hormonal acne kicked in. Now I have acne on my neck, wtf is that!? Seriously, I started a new job and the nodules on my neck is slightly dark that it looks like I went to work with hickies... how embarrassing. Anyway, After seeing so many happy stories with Dan's regime, I don't have high expectations of what my results will be but I certainly hope for the best wink.gif I should also mention, this has been a 10 years coming and going and I have tried everything you can check off the dermotologist's list.

3rd night - I don't think I have new flare ups, my skin does look more calm, but still lots of painful bumps just about everywhere. My face is slightly dry and itchy!!! Trying my best not to touch my face. yikes.

Morning:
Wash- holland barrette's aloe vera gel
Apply- Panoxyl 2.5% bp (pea size)
Moisturize- Dr. Haushka normalizing day oil
SPF- Obagi 30SPF
Makeup- Origins youthopia foundation (weekdays - I hate makeup...for the sake of looking normal in an office with perfect skin colleagues)

Afterwork:
Wash-aloe vera gel
Clarify toner-Apple cider vinegar with water

Before bed:
Wash- Aloe Vera gel
Apply- Panoxyl 2.5% bp (pea size)
Moisturize- Neal's yard Neem oil

Internal work:
Jogging 30min to 1hr - 4 to 5 times a week
Yoga - 3 times a week
I walk a lot....

Eating habits:
Lots of fruits and veggies. I usually drink 2 glasses of water in the morning, pineapple, banana, apple for breakfast. Snack on prunes, fruits, organic dark chocolate. Lunch would consist of lots of vegetables with chicken/ smoke salmon on wrap/ ciabatta...or pasta primavera with alots of Extra virgin olive oil. Dinner would be similar to lunch or fruits with oatmeal (soymilk). Drink 4-5 cups of tea at least, only green tea in the morning, the rest are herbal. 1 ltr of water.

Weakness:
crips... Just started having 1 small bag every 2 weeks? And when I have chocolate I make sure it's organic 80% dark/ without milk and harder any sugar. I'm pretty good at cutting out the dairy. 3-4 croissants a week from good pastry shops... they're so yum.

I'm abit shy about posting things like this up since it's my biggest weakness of all - acne. It makes me feel so low and small just like a switch of the light - from confident to mousey. I obviously also fear that someone I know may stumble across this, and I will be totally embarrassed. But then again, I think: my acne is on my face, there is really no hiding there that I would rather want to have clear skin. And I am going to do what I think will help my me because everyone here understand how it is feels to have acne...everyone I know has perfect or near perfect skin and it is very difficult for them to understand what I go through everyday. *sigh* Anyway, here are my pics for a couple of days before the regime.

Cheers all! X

Oh yah, I have been going to bed a lot earlier now...say 11:30-12. Now I am going to aim for 11pm, which is a huge improvement from what I put my body through earlier this year for school.

PS - I look kind of sad... I think when i forget that I have acne, then I look happy...lol. Otherwise, I look like I am in pain - the throbbing cysts keeps reminding me. gah.

I have no doubt you'll be clear. I give it a month before you really like the progress you've made. Trust! And remember, expect a mild breakout (We call it the "Purging" phase tongue.gif ), dry skin until your skin gets used to the BP, and a clear face! Good luck

Hi Peewee,

I hear ya about the birth control pills... but who wants to take that forever!?!?

Oh I hate cystic acne don't you?? And they clump together to make it all that much more fun. My face is pretty itchy, especially my neck since it only started breaking out past 2 months. I think I am getting some initial purging, but seriously I can't tell...because there's just so many existing bumps. Did you get the purging? What are you using for moisturizer, can you up the hydration to ease the itchiness?

Whenever someone talks to me I am always paranoid about my skin, feel like they are staring at my skin, and I want to just hide.

thanks for the support. do you have a log that I can follow? x

i am sorry.. i dont have a log.its just that i am too busy to make a log..much more update it from time to time. i am dying because of the flakes and dry skin. i am really lost. my make up wont sit and i have to wake up 2 hours before i go to work because my skin is peeling and i have to do ways to make myself presentable to work. urgggghhhhh!!!

im on my second week and things have been better. i never thought i will be on my way to clear skin but knock on wood...i dont have cysts right now..and the breakouts have been lessened. i just hope the purging stage is over because days 1-5 were days i could never 4get because i was purging like hell.hehehehe

=) i am not taking the birth control 4ever. im glad i stopped it and no way am i taking accutane again if i could help it!=) eusa_naughty.gif thanks 4 replying!! il b here to cheer u on! eusa_clap.gif

DAY 6

my face is purging... I suppose with the gentle warnings I should have expected it. The old ones are taking a while to heal though (which is not like the others). My neck is breaking out the worst, very gross and itchy!!!!!!! it looks like leather! My face is dry, flakey, and itchy...still have those cysts.

I had a long day and night yesterday and forgot to wash my face (with sweat and makeup) until 9am this morning!!! No proper sleep and drank quite abit yesterday = crappy skin.

I think Origins Youthology foundation is keeping my skin from heailng because I have one red pimple on my chest that i wanted to conceal the other day which was drying up anyway... after a day of foundation that dried zip became a zity puss! EW. Anyone use this?

I just washed and apply my morning routine and my skin feels sooo great. and very relieved that i wont be wearing any make up today.

DAY 10

Wow, my face is really breaking out... I don't know what to say other than OMG. I don't know if it's even healing faster or whatever... but I'm going to keep at it just cuz I don't know what else to do. I'm on vacation too, so why am I breaking out????? Just when I thought spots are healing and clearing up, more comes out. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

breathe in.... breathe out.... breathe in.... breathe out....

this too shall pass.......

DAY 17

I am still getting breakouts but the non-cyst ones (knock on wood) - i have 3 cysts on my face around jawline and FOUR on my neck!! I suppose being able to count them is good. My neck is extremely dry and itchy and leathery!!! My face went through the flakey phase last week and now isn't soo bad - just real tight feeling. I went from cold rainy location to hot arid country the past week and my face broke out from all the sweating because it wasn't used to it. I have several pimples between my eyebrows, forehead and cheek bones!!!

I upped my BP to 3 pea sizes, it's easier to apply since it dries fairly quick.

A little girl at a hotel befriended me - and during a group conversation amongst friends she points all over her face asking me why my face was so spotty!!! Yikes... I just smiled and said I don't know and it is a mystery, then changed the subject. Oh dear, I was so embarrassed. neutral.gif

I have decided not to drop by school today because my skin is so crappy, hopefully my first day tomorrow will be better?? After the summer break everyone always looks refreshed and beautiful, and I come back with really bad skin. I am trying to convince myself not to wear any make up because then I will have to keep it up and my skin will go downhill again.

These pictures were just taken after shower today before applying the BP. I can't tell if it has gotten better or worse to be honest. *sigh* I will keep at it though.

Just went to the store and switching up some products starting tonight:
Wash: Seabuckthorn Tea Bar instead of Aloe Vera (which I used for the past 4 months, and its not really cleaning my face me thinks)
Treatment: 2.5% BP same
Hydrate: Seabuckthorn Berry Cream instead of Dr. Haushka Normalising day oil or maybe I'll alternate. Since I think the oil is kind of drying me out and looks greasy.
Internal: Seabuckthorn Tea everyday in addition to Cod Liver Oil
A lady at the store highly recommended these products since it is suppose to balance hormone, reduce inflammation, increase immune system, and also takes some of the itchiness away.
Cheers,
x

DAY 20

Cysts are getting smaller, 3 major nodule flared ups but there were there anyway. My mouth area is pretty clear, cheek bone area is clearing up, sides of face quite scarred, forehead has the most breakouts i've head for a while but slowly clearing up.

? hard and soft water.... when I was in UK (hard) this summer, my skin went from bad to worse... when I returned to Canada it just kept on getting good. Maybe it's the timing with Dan's Regimen? I like how it is getting better.

First 2 days of school - NO MAKEUP (mascara and eyeliner), it was brutal... everyone in my program has ridiculously perfect skin. One of my friends told me that I looked amazing but I think she met my figure... tongue.gif I went to a party last night with Jane Iredale Powder between my eyebrows and cheekbone area. There's another party tonight and I'm going to try my best NOT to wear makeup. My friends are all so good at not staring at my skin so I sometimes forget my crappy skin.

When I feel like picking on my face, which is ALLL the time, I just distract myself like going on the gallery pages here and seeing people with their progress photos and how amazing my skin can be if I just be abit more patient.

DAY 21

SLEEP - huge impact on my skin, past two nights of partying and drinking caused my skin to dehydrate and break out slightly, complexion not as nice. I will go back to sleeping before 12am.

DIET - really good when I eat at home, horrible when I'm at the parties munching on my friends' snacks. bought Apple Cider Vinegar today that I will go back taking morning and night.

MAKE UP - I have better complexion than my make up, even though it covers redness... I got new breakouts from where I wore my makeup...booooo......

5 major nodules on my face that's red, scars, small bumps that eventually fall out and heal, neck is better and less itchy.

DAY 22

Jawline, mouth area, and neck extremely dry and itchy again.... ??? I put on so much moisturizer and still flakes and looks wrinkly. Few more nodules got together and became cysts.

I don't know if this regimen is working now... but I will be patience and stick it out to at least a full month or two.

DAY 24

Workload is getting abit more intense at school and definitely affects my skin... but I think mostly is my hand touching my face.

More breakouts on my left cheek, forehead is clearing up but some decided to clump together and turn into nodules/ cysts...lovely. Jawline broke out with bigger bumps and same with neck. They do come and go more quickly now.....

Oh yah, just discovered little bumps on my lower back...? seriously? anyway, i'm leaving them alone.

I upped the BP tonight and no moisturizer for the night just to see what happens.

When will I have clear skin....??? Going out tomorrow and may have to wear makeup, bleh.

DAY 25

upped the bp last night and I think my face is red from that. Will put on moisturizer at night like before but less.

A lady befriended me this morning at the park and towards the end mentioned about my skin and suggested some things.....it's kind of annoying when this happens because it isn't like I'm eating crappy foods or never went to a derm. She was like, I bet if you go on some pills they'd be gone! And eating healthy.... grrr... anyway, she did it in good faith.

Commmmon skin, you can fight it!!

DAY 26

Added some jojaba oil last night to my moisturizer/ and this morning, and my face feels somewhat normal! woohoo! finally... and I will not skip moisturizing again, that's why my face was so red. This morning my face was very calm.

Skipping partying this weekend - really sucks, but I just don't want to smear on make up and come home to more breakouts!!! I hate coverup! And I need my sleep...

I went out biking in the morning and stayed out for 8 hours and got my glow is back! I have to stay active...My skin looked alright in the daylight today, big surprise. It's not good, but decent enough where I can look at myself!!! tongue.gif

Still a few cysts that just won't go away, but slowly clearing up in general. 3 painfull little ones popped around my mouth, maybe I should go for natural toothpaste or something....

Don't think there's much difference really... so far.

DAY 32

Thanks guys for the kind words...you are right - my skin looks a lot more calm. I also ran into someone yesterday who hadn't seen me for half a year told me that my skin was looking better with nicer complexion. smile.gif

Went to two parties last night, drank and had some chips (which I feel guilty about)...did my face routine late into the night before heading out, no makeup. Came home at 3am without washing and went to bed, is this okay? Because I didn't want to over-wash. My skin is fine this morning.

IGNORANT PEOPLE: there's this girl that I see at social events who just stares at my skin and not talk to me - very rude - esp. when all her friends are. No one else had a problem with my skin, why should they???!! *sigh*
