Hello,

I'm male, 21, and have had moderate acne since I was about 18. I've only really begun to try treating it over the last year or so, as it's slowly dawned on me that it probably isn't going to go away any time soon - in fact, it only seems to be getting worse!

I haven't been following a strict regimen, but I think it's about time I start, and so really I'm just after a few tips regarding products I can get in the UK. I use panoxyl on and off, when things are particularly bad, usually alongside Simple-brand moisturiser. The panoxyl seems to help, but I'm not so sure about the moisturiser. It leaves my skin incredibly greasy, and so I only tend to use it at night when I go to bed, along with the panoxyl. In the mornings I just wash with bar soap.

I'm guessing I need to replace the moisturiser, and possibly also the bar soap with a proper cleanser - does anyone have any tips on either of these points, or general advice? I'm considering starting Dan's regimen, but the expense of importing is a bit excessive, so alternatives would be great. I know there are plenty of threads here, but it's a barrage of information to get through at once, and so many of the posts are years old. I've found myself looking for products that no longer seem to exist.

Any help would be great. Thank you!

I find Cetaphil really good, but it doesn't suit everyone. They have a gentle cleanser, a lotion, and a cream. I use the cleanser and lotion. You can get them from bigger Lloyd's Pharmacy outlets (£8.20 each) or from Pharmacy2u.co.uk (£7.65 delivered). The latter also sometimes give you money off codes. biggrin.gif

The lotion is a little bit more difficult to get to absorb than Dan's is, but I don't find Dan's agrees with my skin unfortunately, and you get used to working with the Cetaphil.

The Cetaphil cleanser doesn't lather, and that can be a problem for guys if they want to shave with it. Like many people I found Dan's cleanser a bit drying which was a shame because it's lovely. Hope this helps.
