Hey everyone! A little background. I am 24 and when I was 22 I began the journey of a long and grueling medical problem. I broke my leg, it turned into a SEVERE bone infection, and ultimately I was amputated below-the-knee. I'm okay now and feeling better then ever, minus the little thing we like to call ACNE!
I actually don't know what "Acne" consists of. While I don't have cysts or any kind of breakout on my forehead, cheeks, or chin (minus the 1 I get during my period), my jawline is a MESS! If you look at me straight on, my skin looks flawless. My profile? I look like a different person!
I made the mistake of covering my face with BP every night thinking it would help, but that just left me with a lot of redness making the acne look a million times worse. Now I probably have 6 active pimples on each side, and they are pretty big. They aren't cysts, but they are gross to say the least.
So, after months and months of trying everything I could think of, I broke down to a guy I work with. I could tell he suffered from severe acne as a boy due to scars on his face and was desperate to confide in someone who I wouldn't fell embarrassed with. He tried telling me that my acne wasn't even noticeable when I'm wearing makeup, but I HATE wearing makeup all the time! Anyways, he gave me a book about vitamins, minerals, and how they can help you obtain perfect skin.
He told me for his cystic acne, he mega-dosed on vitamin C in crazy, outrageous numbers. He said after years of spending thousands trying to clear it up, vitamin C is what did it. After reading the book and doing lots of research, I decided to give it a shot.
I'm currently taking:
Women's One-A-Day (Vitamin Shoppe brand)
Zinc (100mg a day, 2 50mg pills, one in the AM, one in the evening)
Vitamin B5 (1,000mg, 2 250mg pills in the AM, 2 250mg pills in the evening)
Also, I use:
Kate Somerville Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
Kate Somerville Exfolikate
Kate Somerville Eradikate (it's a sulphur based spot treatment, works well to wear it under makeup)
After 2 weeks of taking these vitamins and minerals (just recently began mega-dosing on the B5 and I might mega-dose on vitamin C soon), things are looking better. My breakouts are further inbetween, the redness has gone away, and when I wear a light foundation everything is perfectly clear. I'm going to attach some before and after photos.

My acne is pretty similar right now where from straight on not so bad but from one side in particular it is going crazy. My skin and hair were so oily when I stopped birth control pills I ended up going back on them. The oil is controlled now but the acne is still there and gets better gets worse but just like yours in those areas: hairline, jawline, lower cheeks, mostly. I don't want to take birth control pills and want to find another solution like supplements, etc. Sooooooo frustrated and depressed.
