Hey tonight is my first night of trying oral pills for my skin. Starting with Niaci. Ive read a lot about it on here. Im going to be taking 500 mg of Natures Bounty Flush Free Niacin Inositol Hexanicotinate (400 mg of Niacin and 100 mg of Inositol Hexanicotinate) Bottle says 1-2 capsules daily with a meal. What do you guys (Im a guy) recommend? Im also starting Pharmassure B Complete (Vitamin B Complex with Choline and Inositol) Do you guys need the ingredients? And what do you recommend on once or twice daily with those? Also with both those pills would it be ok (healthy)/beneficial to be taking Keflex (cephalexin). My derm prescribed me them.

Now last part. Would be applying topical 5% Niacin, Metazene, be ok to do? Mainly just at night before i go to sleep.

I have sooo many more questions/recommendations for daily mens skin care too (oily skin cleansers, exfoliants, toners and moisturizers, if all needed?

Thanks for all your help...Ive been dealing with skin issues for too long (ill be 21 in September). sad.gif

ive been taking the flush version niacin for about a week now. its too early to see if its working, but i havent had a breakout in a few days now. im noticing my red marks seem to be healing faster than they would have otherwise and thats a postive.

the flush is becoming more bearable too. its gone from being quite sickening (the first time), to just a temporary reddening of my face, arms and chest and upper back. it pays to sit down for a little bit after taking it.

im taking it every second day rather than every day. im hoping by doing this my body will not become dependant on it.

I am on day 3 of Niacin 500mg & am awaiting to see some results. I dont seem so have gained any new spots for the first 2 days so far, whereas usually I get new ones everyday. The burning sensation is quite strong though so I am taking them in the evening with dinner. Time will tell but def worth a try! I am all for curing acne from the inside out.

i'm not really sure if this helps, but recently i got some capsules that say 'vitamin B-complex with C' i guess they're used as a dietary supplement by most people. i was taking two on random mornings (i'm never good at remembering to take vitamins every day) i didn't really see much of a difference, but last night i thought i'd try breaking the capsule open and mixing the powder with a little water and applying it directly to my face. i had recently picked my face really really bad and it left some deep open wounds, they had scabbed and the scabs were starting to come off, i ended up removing the scabs (it may have been a tad early, because the skin under was still sensitive, but they didn't bleed or anything like that) i put the powder and water mix on these areas and some of my white heads and pimples that were hurting but not completely formed yet. it stung the areas that weren't completely healed, but not unbearably painfully. i woke up this morning and my new skin from the scabs looks almost completely healed, no scabs at all. it made the white heads shrink in size and the not completely formed ones hurt less and shrink too.

the pills have 300mg vitamin, 15mg thiamin(b1), 10mg riboflavin(b2), 50mg niacin, 5 mg b6, and 10 mg pantothenic acid.
like i said, not sure if this helps in anyway, but just thought it wouldn't hurt to throw it out there.

I am on maybe day 5 of taking 500mg of Niacin before bed? I added a whole lot of supplements at the same time so its hard to tell what's doing what lol Also I'm on antibiotics so I know that's probably doing the most of it but I am hoping to wean off those after about a month with the supplements. The kind I got don't say "flush free" (I've heard that you actually want the flush to be beneficial to your skin) but I haven't actually noticed a big flush or really rather a flush at all to be honest. It says on the package that this particular brand is designed so that the flush and the itching usually associated with Niacin is less. But that doesn't mean its flush free? I don't know... but anyways best of luck to you with the niacin! I didn't even know they made it topically?

I've personally been taking 1g (1000mg) for a week now and have noticed NO results. I've realized however that acne can have many causes and cures. It is unique to every person and what works for one person isn't guaranteed to work for everyone.
