I've been on Doxycycline since 6/21. I take 100mg twice a day and will be taking it for a total of 3 months, I've missed one dose one morning on accident in the first week. I haven't really noticed a difference.

I have mostly cystic acne, I think I'd label it as severe. Lots of redness. Mostly on my face, I used to have a lot on my back but now it's mostly really tiny bumps and dark scars. A few tiny bumps on my chest and some light scarring.

I've taken it once before at least two years ago and I was clear (same dosage for same amount of time).

I'm 17 years old.

I am taking Doxycycline, 100mg once a day. I had pretty bad cystic acne around my jawline and cheeks, but it was hormonal. I find that Doxy works better for hormonal acne than any other kind... so if you aren't a girl who is experiencing acne due to her monthly cycle, Doxy may not be enough for you.

My acne was due to my cycle and my hormones freaking out. I've been taking my Doxy for about 2 weeks and my face is now perfectly clear... maybe you need something harsher like accutane?

my regimen:

Morning: St. Ives apricot face scrub, 1 Doxy
Mid-Day: Oil blotter sheets when needed
Night: St. Ives apricot face scrub

and I drink tons and tons of water throughout the day. That really helps.

I stopped taking doxy for a week and a couple days cuz it was drying out my skin...if i start again will it still work? or will the acne bacteria have developed an immunity to it?

I've been on doxy for the past 3 months and it really hasn't done anything for my skin. My skin wasn't that bad to begin with, but once I started doxy, I feel that it began bringing things to the surface so I have dark brown marks left. And still to this day i still break out. I am planning on weening myself off of doxy or going to the derm to ask for another antibiotic. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Oh yeah my regimen is as follows:
AM
1 Doxy 100mg
Aqua glycolic facial cleanser
Acanya gel
neutrogena oil-free spf 35

PM
Aqua glycolic facial cleanser
Aczone
10% BP as a spot treatment
cetaphil lotion.

naynay123 and desperatelyseekingclearing: if you havn't had any results on doxycycline after 3 months on treatment then it is very unlikely that it will ever satisfactorily improve your acne.

I would recommend Accutane.
